Overview

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 is all-new this year, complete with a fresh styling that looks dramatic and has more upscale interiors. The mid-size three-row QX60 redesign shows a new design language for the brand, "Elegant, distinctive, and butch," as previewed by the QX60 Monograph concept. Starting with a price tag of $46,850, the 2022 QX60 is a notch above the previous generation model. The QX60's interiors bring a new kind of luxury, thanks to the new design and added convenience features. Open-pore wood, chrome, hidden air vents, and haptic-touch controls along with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster make a clean and modern interior.

The 2022 QX60 has the same old 295 hp 3.5L V-6 engine, just like the Nissan Pathfinder. However, the former CVT has been replaced by the new 9-speed automatic transmission. You can choose among the 4 trims of the new Infiniti QX60: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and the Autograph. Front-wheel drive is standard while AWD costs an extra $2,000. The 2022 QX60 can tow up to 6,000 lbs that are 1000 lbs more than its predecessor. In the luxury mid-size SUV segment, the 2022 QX60 competes with the Acura MDX, Lexus RX 350L, and Cadillac XT6

Buying Advice

Considering the segment, the Sensory trim makes the most sense among all. The power-adjustable front seats with heat and massage functions are simply apt for one's comfort. The heating convenience is there for the 2nd-row seats as well. Further, it gets the17-speaker Bose Performance Series Sound System as a standard that keeps the musical notes high. Getting all such tech-ends and ease, hence, seems to justify the $56,350 price tag.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

"Infiniti's mid-size three-row QX60 is all new for the 2022 model year and aims to move significantly up-market to win the hearts of premium-SUV buyers"- Car and Driver

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 has undergone a major overhaul with a completely new exterior and interior design. Adding more luxury inside, the 2022 QX60 targets premium-SUV buyers. For 2022, the Infiniti QX60 is available in 4 trim levels, with prices ranging from $46,850 to $60,350. However, the AWD layout in these trims costs an additional $2,000 to $3,000 over the standard FWD. The 295 hp 3.5L V-6 returns under the hood, though feels unrefined at higher revs.

Considering the finance options, the destination fee for the 2022 QX60 comes around $1,025 while the yearly maintenance cost stands at $638. In addition, the insurance charges rest approximately at $ 1,747 every year. Also, the expected depreciated price, after 5-year of ownership with an average of 12,000 miles/year, will be reduced to almost $22,189. This balance sheet might go even higher if packages like the Tow Package at $900 and Vision Package at $1,500 are preferred.

Buying Advice

"Clever packaging in the doors, underneath the console, and in the cargo floor open up more space inside, but the true charm inside is the second-row seats." - The Car Connection

The interior of the 2022 Infiniti QX60 sees a complete makeover with a completely new design and convenience features that looks luxurious. The 2022 QX60 retains its three-row seating layout, making space for 7 passengers. The new range-topping Autograph trim offers a second-row captain's chair, reducing the seats for up to 6 occupants. This $60,000 top range QX60 model can be differentiated from the lower trims with exclusive 9-interior Semi-Aniline Seating accents with respective contrast stitchings. The QX60 gets power-adjustable seats with heating functions in the Pure and Luxe trims.

The 2022 QX60 also receives heat-assist for the 2nd-row alongside a one-touch release for easy ingress and egress for the 3rd row. The new QX60 offers a decent cargo space behind the third-row, at 14.5 cu-ft. The touchscreen can also be controlled by a metallic rotary knob on the center console. The new model offers a storage area built in the lower section of the center console.

It has also been given ProPILOT ASSIST with Navi-link as the tracking algorithm that begins from the Luxe trim. In comparison to the rivals, the QX60 has 8.3 cu-ft more cargo volume than the Lexus RX 350L. Even the legroom in all the rows is better in the former. "The previous SUV had an element of ‘90s bubble-era shaping to it, but the newest model ditches the bulbous lines and bloated look in favor of taut sheetmetal that looks vastly more modern"- Motor1

Infiniti has redesigned the 2022 QX60 and it looks fabulous, dramatic, and simply stylish. The brand's new design language is derived from the QX60 Monograph concept car. With a high head-turning quotient, the redesigned QX60 boasts a flatter hood, a new double-arch grille with a 3D look, and a higher shoulder line. Infiniti by adding piano-style headlights and taillights makes the new QX60 look modern. This luxurious 3-row SUV is available with 16-exterior colors such as the Moonbow Blue and Warm Titanium.

Speaking of the dimensions, the front of the 2022 QX60 gets a little wider while the overall length has decreased slightly. Apart from that, it has 18-inch wheels standard while 20-inch alloy wheels are optional. An optional Vision Package costs $1,500 for the Luxe and Sensory trims and adds an adaptive front lighting system.

But its ground clearance is less than the Lexus by 1.4 inches that can make a slight difference while cruising through a rough track. In addition to all these, some of the other notable features of the new Infiniti QX60 have been listed down:

  • LED Daytime Running Lights
  • Power-sliding tinted glass moonroof with one-touch auto-open/close, tilt feature, and sliding sunshade

"The QX60 brings to bear some of the best safety tech that Infiniti has to offer" - CNET Roadshow

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 has not been crash-tested by either of the federal safety rating agencies including the IIHS and NHTSA. The previous-generation QX60 received the highest 5-star rating from the NHTSA and a "Good" score from IIHS. On top of that, a host of driver-assistance features are standard on the QX60. Some of the safety features included in Infiniti's ProPilot Assist system are as follows:

  • Forward collision warning with automated emergency braking
  • Lane centering system
  • Advanced Cruise Control
  • Lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Semi-autonomous driving mode
  • Traffic light recognition system
  • The backup collision intervention system

Competition

 2022 INFINITI QX60 vs 2022 Acura MDX

The 2022 INFINITI QX60 has better acceleration while the MDX outperforms in quarter-mile drag. So, on the whole, they can be rated at par in performance parameter. However, with better range practicality the QX60 does take the edge over the latter. On the flip side, the interior spaciousness and volume favor the MDX. Therefore, both of them are equally desirable.

 2022 INFINITI QX60 vs 2022 Lexus RX 350L

The 2022 INFINITI QX60 has got an upper hand in range reach and interior space management over the Lexus RX 350L. Meanwhile, the RX 350L comes with better acceleration and a higher top speed that improve its performance dynamics. But it has to be QX60 between the two for its perfect balance between performance and premium luxury.

2022 INFINITI QX60 vs 2022 Cadillac XT6

The XT6 has a much more balanced cabin than the QX60. The same stands true for engine performance and relative top speed as well. Except for the range figures, the QX60 hardly manages to outclass the XT6. Therefore, the Cadillac should be given preference between the two.

Final Verdict

The all-new 2022 Infiniti QX60 is simply one of the finest luxury mid-size SUVs in the market, especially considering its $46,850 starting price. It has a perfect blend of performance and luxury at its disposal. The road presence and redesigned curvature of the 2022 QX60 offers an upscale appeal. But the market does include other must-try SUVs like the Cadillac XT6 and Genesis GV80. However, if you are looking for a premium mid-size three-row SUV, the 2022 Infiniti QX60 should be on your list.
