Overview

The 2020 Infiniti QX60 remains unchanged from the outgoing model and is on sale with a starting price of $44,350. It comes in three trims- Pure, Luxe, and Signature Edition that are powered by a 295-hp V6 engine. This engine's towing capacity is rated at 5,000 pounds and has a decent fuel economy for its size but it isn't quick.

The QX60's interior is handsome and luxurious but the fit and finish are not that great when compared to other luxury midsize SUVs. While its cargo room is pretty good, it lacks on the infotainment area. However, the QX60 earned top safety ratings in its class. The main rivals of the QX60 include the Lexus RX 350L, the Acura MDX, and the Volvo XC90

Buying Advice

Just go confidently with the Luxe trim as it is eligible for upgrading to additional comfort and technological features through optional packages. On that note, opt for the $1,950 ProASSIST package that adds top active safety features. However, to get this package, you also have to buy the Essential package.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The QX60 doesn't quite fit in as an Infiniti in the traditional way- Edmunds

Although the all-new QX50 is on its way, it's actually the QX60 that remains Infiniti's top-selling product in their lineup. It houses a robust V6 whose fuel economy is average but its boring handling won't excite enthusiasts. It is a luxury SUV but still, its cabin feels less upscale than other luxury midsize SUVs. It also misses on modern tech features. On the plus side, it is one of the safest SUVs in its class.

The QX60 will also enjoy good reliability and low ownership costs. Every year, the true cost to own the QX60 comes out to be around $10,400 which includes repair, fuel, maintenance, depreciation, etc. Also, the average cost per mile is less than its rivals. To be correct, it costs only $0.69, which is good for a 3-row SUV. Speaking of reliability, it scored 80 points out of 100 and has good resale values.

Buying Advice

Just go confidently with the Luxe trim as it is eligible for upgrading to additional comfort and technological features through optional packages. On that note, opt for the $1,950 ProASSIST package that adds top active safety features. In order to get this package, you also have to buy the Essential package. Basically, without equipping the Essential package, you cannot upgrade to any other package.

Features
7.0/10

Many desirable features are available, but only with the top two trim levels- CarAndDriver

The Infiniti QX60 is available in three trims namely Pure, Luxe, and Signature Edition. The Pure trim can be purchased at a base price of $44,350 while the top-end Signature Edition model costs up to $52,250. Both FWD and AWD configurations are available on every QX60. For its affordable starting price, the QX60 comes with a decent list of standard features. Hence, the Pure trim does not come with any optional packages.

The Luxe trim, on the other hand, offers several optional upgrades. The Essential package adds an 8-inch touchscreen with a navigation system, Amazon Alexa, rain-sensing windshield wipers, leather seats, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera for $2,900. You can also upgrade to the $2,150 Theatre package for dual 8-inch rear screens and a 120-volt power outlet but you need to equip the Essential package as well.

Fuel Economy
4.0/10

The 2020 Infiniti QX60 is thoroughly average in terms of fuel efficiency among three-row luxury crossovers- The Car Connection

The Infiniti QX60's fuel economy is not the best in the segment but it does the job pretty well. According to the EPA, the QX60 returns 20 MPG in the city, 27 MPG on a highway, and 22 MPG combined. The city and highway ratings of AWD models drop down by 1 MPG but the combined gas mileage is identical to the FWD models.

These figures are relatively competitive among the three-row crossovers while few rivals may outperform the QX60. Thanks to its sizable 19.5-gallon fuel tank, the QX60 can drive up to 458 miles combined while the maximum combined range for AWD models is 439 miles. Therefore, the QX60 can be an option for your interstate trips.

The Volvo XC90 is the most fuel-efficient SUV in this competition but keep in mind that it is also the least powerful among the lot. The fuel numbers of the Acura MDX are almost equivalent to the QX60 while both the SUVs delivers the exact range. The fuel economy of the Lexus RX 350L is not that bad either but is slightly less than the QX60.

Interior
9.0/10

If you’re looking for a roomy cabin that’s as handsome as it is comfortable, look no further than the 2020 Infiniti QX60- Kelly Blue Book

Infiniti has designed the interior of the QX60 luxuriously and thoughtfully. It not only looks rich but spacious as well. There are leather and wood finishes in the cabin although the dash showcases hard plastic. The seats are not soft but are still comfortable. The heated front seats offer a good amount of adjustment so the drivers may not have any difficulty in finding the right position. The power lumbar support however does not offer positional adjustment.

The QX60 also gets the option of ventilated front seats and heated rear seats for additional comfort of passengers. The second-row headrest might obstruct the rearview for the driver but the large window and 360-degree camera make things easy. We must appreciate Infiniti for making the third row easily accessible as the second-row tilts and slides without any fuss. Head and legroom are great in the front and second rows but feel a bit compressed in the third row.

The standard 8-inch screen functions on Infiniti's InTouch interface. A touchscreen of the same size is available with Amazon Alexa and a navigation system with outdated graphics. The infotainment system is user-friendly and easily navigable. Some of the control knobs are high on the dash and require extra effort to reach. There is no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay offered which is a big letdown. The Luxe trim gets a 13-speaker Bose premium audio system as opposed to 6 speakers on the Pure trim.

For a luxury SUV with three rows of seating, the QX60 boasts an above-average amount of cargo space. It comes with 15.8 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats up while the third-row splits 50/50 and folds to create 40.5 cu-ft. of space. You get a total of 76.2 cu-ft. of the cargo hold with all seats down. A power liftgate is standard while a hands-free liftgate comes as optional. Some of the main interior features of the WX60 are listed below:

  • Power tilt & telescopic multi-function leather, heated steering wheel

  • Power-adjustable & heated front seats
  • Ambient lighting
  • Tri-zone automatic climate control

Exterior
7.0/10

The 2020 Infiniti QX60 wears a more rounded and sleek look along with the company's signature headlight and the grille which works well with the overall design. From sides its sloping roof adds to the look but it does not hamper the QX60's striking roomy interior. We found the automakers signature Z-shape flair in the rearmost roof pillar which the QX30 also boasts.-Kelley Blue Book

The exterior design of the Infiniti QX60 looks fresh, though it remains unchanged for 2020. The QX60 is recognized by a double-arch grille with a chrome surround and black mesh in the middle. The headlights have been upgraded to LEDs instead of previous HIDs and that now matches with LED DRLs and LED fog lamps. The sharp body lines that run along the sides of the car and the crescent rear window keep things looking athletic.

The QX60 sits on 18-inch alloy wheels but it can be upgraded to 20-inch alloys. Compared to its rivals, the QX60 has a low ground clearance of 6.5 inches, for easy egress and ingress. The QX60 might be a crossover but it reveals how big it is when parked beside a smaller sedan or SUV. It has an overall length of 200.6 inches, which is more than many of its rivals. The QX60 has a sportier-than-expected stance at the rear set off by narrow LED taillights.

The Volvo XC90 has the highest ground clearance of 9.4 inches. Although not a dedicated off-roader, it can be a good mild off-roader. The short wheelbase of the Lexus RX 350L affects its interior room, especially the third row badly. The Acura MDX is the shortest SUV in this competition. Therefore, it will be easy for drivers to park the vehicle at tight spots. Some other exterior features of the QX60 are:

  • LED headlights
  • LED taillights
  • LED DRLs
  • LED fog lamps
  • Door exterior lights

Safety
7.0/10

From the IIHS, the QX60 earns Top Safety Pick designation- MotorTrend

Both the NHSTA and IIHS agree that the Infiniti QX60 is safe when banged against a wall. It gets a 5-star overall rating by the NHSTA. The IIHS gave the Top Safety Pick designation to the QX60 for its safety. It also received a 'Superior' rating for its front crash prevention and an 'Acceptable' rating for the headlights.

The QX60 gets limited driver aids as standard. Most of the advanced safety techs are bundled into the package and opting for one of these packages is not easy as they cost a lot. These packages include the $1,950 ProASSIST package and the $3,400 ProACTIVE package. Some of the driver-assist features available are:

  • Active trace control
  • High beam assist
  • Front & rear parking sensors
  • Distance control assist
  • Backup collision intervention
  • Lane departure prevention
  • Intelligent cruise control
  • Blind-spot intervention

  • Forward collision warning
  • Blind-spot monitoring

Competition
9.0/10

2020 Infiniti QX60 vs 2020 Acura MDX

The QX60 is a good value for money but the Acura MDX is a better option. Although similarly powered, the MDX is agile and offers sharper handling. The QX60 is a step ahead when it comes to in-cabin space and practicality but the MDX offers the latest tech features. The MDX finally wins the battle as it offers more standard safety tech and also has lower ownership costs.

2020 Infiniti QX60 vs 2020 Volvo XC90

The Volvo XC90 has a higher starting price than the QX60. It offers two engine options and offers a serene ride quality. Even with the base engine equipped, the XC90 is quicker and more fuel-efficient than the QX60. Inside, its cabin is more luxurious while its cargo room is one of the best. It also offers many tech features as standard. Furthermore, it is also loaded with plenty of standard safety techs.

2020 Infiniti QX60 vs 2020 Lexus RX 350L

The Lexus RX 350L is a bit more expensive than the QX60. Both SUVs have equal power levels but the RX 350L's tow ratings are very less. The RX 350L's cabin feels more upscale and offers more standard tech features but it falls short on passenger space in the third row and cargo capacity. Unlike, the QX60, the RX 350L offers a long list of standard driver-assist features.

Final Verdict

The 2020 Infiniti QX60 is one of the best value for money SUVs in the luxury segment. It fetches for thousands less than other luxury SUVs and delivers a smooth and comfy ride. The fuel economy is impressive and there is lots of space in all the three-rows. It also earns an excellent crash test rating and boasts a long list of features although the interior quality feels less luxurious than most in the class. Spirited drivers may also find the driving dynamics bland.
