The Volvo XC90 for its 2024 model year comes with a total of 6 trims out of which only 3 are powered by a gasoline engine supported by a mild hybrid system. These three trims offer two different powertrains from the same engine. The base trim comes with the B5 engine which is 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 delivering 247 hp of power and 258 lb-ft of torque. The two higher trims are equipped with the B6 engine with the same configurations but extract 295 horsepower and a torque of 10 lb-ft. There is also the plug-in hybrid powertrain that is more powerful but we will cover it in a separate review. The mild hybrid option is quick enough to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 6.8 seconds thanks to the 8-speed automatic transmission. The top speed of 137 mph with the base engine is impressive enough for an SUV from its segment.
