Overview

The BMW X3 was redesigned just last year and the 2019 BMW X3 comes with minor changes. The X3 2019 price starts at $41,000 and an additional destination fee of $995 is levied. As compared to previous model year, the X3 2019 costs $1,650 less due to availability of sDrive30i with front wheel drive. BMW now offers some safety and driver-assistance features as standard. The 2019 BMW M40i trim gets a sport steering wheel, matching its sporty demeanor.

Featuring a 3-trim lineup of sDrive30i, xDrive30i, and M40i, the 2021 BMW X3 MSRP can be an expense of $41,995-$55,645 this season. Having said that, it simply translates to the fact that the range-leader M40i will cost you $13,650 more than the base sDrive30i for enhanced specs, assets and track-ready performance.

We Recommend

Looking at the specs sheet and an msrp of $43,995, we would recommend the 2019 BMW xDrive30i for its all wheel drive drivetrain, decent features and good performance.

The 2019 BMW X3 is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine under the hood, making 248 horsepower. The more-desirable and M-tuned 2019 BMW X3 M40i is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six engine with 355 hp. Although, the standard powertrain makes it slower than its rivals like the Porsche Macan, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60, the BMW X3 M40i smokes them all with a 0-60 time of just 4.4 seconds. The 2019 BMW X3’s towing capacity of 4,400 pounds is impressive. The 2019 BMW X3 interior is luxurious, comfy and offers a cargo capacity of 28.7 cubic feet. The 2019 BMW X3 dimensions and curb weight are well-balanced, enabling the X3 2019 to offer adrenaline-filled experiences.

2019 BMW X3 for sale

The 2019 BMW X3 sDrive30i can be leased for a term of 36 months and $565/month. The annual mileage is limited to 10,000 miles. The same model can also be financed for as low as 2.99% APR for a term of 60 months and $717/month. The down payment amount is $4,199.

For budget-oriented buyers, the used 2019 BMW X3 can be availed of with a base price of $21,995. Going for older model years like the 2018 BMW X3 could be a matter of $26,495 and BMW X3 2017 can cost as much as $12,750 along with a listing of up to 5,653 in total.

Features

Though the BMW X3 lineup has been granted with three trims: sDrive30i, xDrive30i, and M40i, the base model and the upper one are comparatively the same in order of sharing most of the features and options. The base model comes with a standard set of features: a 6.5-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, a USB port, a 12-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, proximity keyless entry, a power liftgate, tri-zone automatic climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, and 18-inch wheels.

Fuel Economy
7.6/10

BMW has always been reputed for the performance it provides in its crossovers. The previous model of the X3 was also reputed for the same. And the best part was that performance did not come at the cost of fuel economy. The engine that the X3 comes packed with is certainly fuel-efficient. It delivers 26 MPG of combined economy, which is decent. So, when it comes to forking out fuel costs, your pockets will be happier.

When it comes to fuel efficiency, the BMW X3 is grabbing its trophy with pride. It can run for 22 MPG in the city, 29 MPG on the highway, and 25 MPG combined. These numbers are close to the Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5, especially in the combined efficiency area. The Macan is the least efficient among these while the BMW leads the pack in the fuel economy department.

Interior
7.6/10

The interiors of the 2019 BMW X3 stay in sync with its reputation. There may not be many changes in the interiors of the new BMW from the previous model, but the luxury provided inside will still entice you the same. Inside, you get soft and plush materials to keep you comfortable. The dashboard also has a soft touch and feel, but it differs from trims. Intricate detailing inside is put together in perfect sync. And the feel of luxury is not lost in even one bit.

All the seats of the car have been dipped in leather upholstery. And 5 full-fledged adults can sit comfortably. Some adjustment options are provided that make it, even more, relaxing for you inside. In terms of space also, the X3 does brilliantly. The tall door apertures give you easy ingress and egress. It also offers you a great ride and handling quality, climate control micro-adjustments, and the suspension certainly soaks up heavy bumps.

Comfort-wise, the X3 is totally upbeat. With lots of adjustments provided inside and supportive seats, the car beats its rivals in terms of interiors. The cabin space may not feel enough but it’s much more than the Macan. The X3 also comes with a perfect trunk space of 28.7 cubic feet. All of the models compared here come with luxurious and high-quality interiors; however, the Volvo is the most spacious one. The following are some of the most important interior features of the 2019 BMW X3-

  • Nevada Leather Upholstery
  • Eight-way power-adjustable front sport seats with manual thigh bolster and power lumbar support
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Heated front seats
  • Dark Copper High Gloss trim
  • Heated rear seats

What’s there to keep you entertained?

The iDrive infotainment system that the 2019 BMW X3 gets offers you an array of features but leaves out features like auxiliary input jack and Android Auto integration. Exterior
7.6/10

Perhaps yes! The boxiness of the SUVs has been given away in the BMW X3. It’s different from the usual BMWs. The muscular X3, however, creates a dominating road presence. The wheels in the corner, wider intakes, and increased wheelbase add to the charm. The different-looking roofline of the X3 further adds to the style and sleekness of the car and makes it look more elegant. There are multiple wheel options on offer with the 2019 X3, sizes ranging from 18 to 20 inches and they come in different styles.

The X3 is offered in nine metallic shades and two non-metallic options to choose from. The kidney grille of the perfect size in the front-end accompanied by the projector or LED adaptive headlamps, crafted beautifully on both sides, the BMW X3 looks beautifully aggressive from the front. The available M Sport Package which is standard in the M40i trim adds even more aggressive bodywork and front and rear bumpers. Overall it is a treat to look at.

The 2019 Volvo XC60 is the heavier one among all of these machines, not by a huge margin, but still, all the others have managed to keep their weights very similar. The Volvo however, also offers the most ground clearance and also is the widest. Based on exterior beauty, all of these crossover SUVs look impressive but the Porsche Macan would be the most elegant one to look at. The BMW X3 is also an aesthetically good-looking machine with an aggressive-looking stance and front end. The following are some of the most important exterior features of the 2019 BMW X3-

  • Adaptive Full LED Lights
  • Automatic high beams
  • Double Spoke High-Gloss light-alloy wheels
  • Panoramic Moonroof

Safety
8.8/10

The NHTSA has rated the 2019 BMW X3 with 5-star ratings. Even in the IIHS tests, the car has performed well and earned the “Top Safety Pick+'' title. These outstanding scores ensure that the 2019 BMW X3 is a super safe machine. Some mention-worthy safety features integrated into the 2019 BMW X3 include adaptive cruise control, active lane-keeping assistant, heads-up display, a rear-view camera; all as the Driving Assistance Plus Package. The following are the prominent safety features in the 2019 BMW X3-

  • Active Blind Spot Detection
  • Active Driving Assistant
  • ACC with Stop & Go
  • Surround View
  • Speed Limit Info
  • Park Distance Control

2019 BMW X3 vs 2019 Volvo XC60

The Volvo XC60 must be cheaper than the BMW X3, but it comes with many great features. And the safety figures of the XC60 are great. In terms of looks, the X3 grabs appreciation. It is also the more engaging one to drive whereas the Volvo is more spacious. So, if you want a sporty one then choose the BMW, and for more comfort and space opt for the Volvo.

2019 BMW X3 vs 2019 Audi Q5

The BMW X3 will cost you less than the Audi Q5. The Q5 offers you more safety features as compared to the X3. And it also comes with Audi’s virtual cockpit. Both these SUVs come packed with a powerful lineup and offer you a sporty ride. But when it comes to the features and opulence, the Q5 does better. But the boot space and the overall interior luxury are higher inside the X3.

2019 BMW X3 vs 2019 Porsche Macan

Luxury-wise, the 2019 Porsche Macan comes out as more opulent than the 2019 BMW X3. In terms of handling and suspension setup, Porsche takes the better seat. The engine revs perfectly and it’s easy to go past the 60 MPH benchmark. The Macan, however, loses when it comes to ergonomics and interiors. Overall, for the much lower price, the BMW X3 is the best choice.

Final Verdict

When the title BMW comes, it’s not even a question. And with the X3, BMW has already upgraded its performance. But the car is also a family SUV, so you can surely get it. The inline-6 potent engine coupled with sports suspension in the 2019 BMW X3 M40i gives you the ideal performance that the enthusiast in you requires. Even without the high-performance model, the X3 is a very well handling vehicle offering a luxurious high-quality interior and adequate space, making it a great option in the segment.
