Overview

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne is an all-new model with a 335 hp V6 engine, an increase of 35 hp from the 2018 Cayenne, that can thump a 5.9-second 0-60 MPH sprint within a few blinks. Though the new styling looks pretty familiar, however, the new 15%bigger Porsche Cayenne interior blended with 11 classic interior accents is simply a stature of its own costing an MSRP of $65,700.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Buying Advice

Porsche completely redesigned the Cayenne for the 2019 model year. The new Cayenne improves significantly on major complaints in the 2018 Porsche Cayenne. Also, it has got better power surge and better dynamics to control altogether which, thereby, continues in the other successive models besides that bigger touch screen which makes the cabin more refined, thanks to those eliminated physical buttons. So, it is advisable to go for the Porsche Cayenne 2019 without a doubt.

Further elaborating its overall build with a cargo capacity of up to 60.3 cu-ft and with well-defined safety integrity and features, the 2019 Cayenne specs to challenge the Audi Q8, BMW X5, and Maserati Levante. And, it is accompanied by even more powerful spirits such as the 434-hp Cayenne S and 541-hp Cayenne Turbo with breath-taking performance.

2019 Porsche Cayenne for sale

The used Porsche Cayenne configurations available for sale in our own inventory begin at $5,495. While the Used 2019 Cayenne's average listed MSRP may range from $68,888 to $117,216, depending on the vehicle’s condition, mileage, features, and location. Apart from that, one can even go for other luxury beats as well including the $79,900 priced Cayenne E-Hybrid and $82,900 priced Cayenne S.

Buying Advice

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne Base is surely enough for you in terms of both comfort and performance. The newer powertrain comes with more thrust and better handling equipment which further helps in a more isolated cabin. The tech-ends and upgradable options are also up to the mark for the Base Cayenne 2019.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne has been introduced with such impactful upgrades this season that its inspiring Porsche 4D Chassis Control and Porsche Traction Management are capable to withhold its persona in this competitive segment. That being said, a balance of Porsche Cayenne towing capacity of 7,700 lbs along with a top speed of 152 MPH may seem to get a little hampered due to a mediocre 79-J.D power rating, which dents its reliability index majorly.

An average J.D power rating also translates to a pretty high maintenance charges of $12,918 and repairing expenses of  $11,424 in 5 years of ownership. On top of that, there is a depreciation of $32,961 at the least in its resale value after the same time period. In addition to that, there are some other pay-offs too such as an insurance of $8,468 alongside a fuel cost of up to $20,774.

Features
7.0/10

The Porsche Cayenne 2019 has been packed with Porsche4-D Chassis Control and Porsche Connect as its technology front. We have got the partial and full leather finishes on those heated/ventilated/massage functioned seats too alongside Porsche Traction Management.

The Porsche Communication Management and 10-speaker Hi-Fi Sound System are also a part of the Cayenne 2019 and its holistic outplay. And the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 19-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires further elongate the feature list.

Fuel Economy
4.0/10

The 2019 Cayenne MPG has been rated at 19 MPG in the city, 23 MPG on the highway, and 20 MPG combined by the EPA. With a 23.7 gallons gas tank size, the Base Cayenne range comes around 450-545 miles in the city-highway tracks respectively.

The new Cayenne offers better fuel economy than its predecessor which could be attributed to the newer cylinder deactivation tech and more modern nannies. In comparison to the rivals, the BMW X5 is slightly better, with an EPA rating of 21/25 mpg city/highway.

Interior
9.0/10

For 2019, the new Cayenne's interior boasts a much cleaner appearance.  Porsche's Direct Touch controls on the center console replace the individual buttons in the previous model. The analog center tachometer is flanked by dual 7-inch digital gauges and a massive 12.3-inch touch screen looks stunning on the center stack. The flat surface panel delivers a sleek look and haptic feedback to control vehicle, climate, and infotainment functions. Overall comfort is on point and Porsche claims that the new Cayenne gains 15-percent more interior room, mostly in the cargo area and rear seat.

The Cayenne uses top-quality materials inside such as soft, stitched black leather covering the dash, center console, door panels, and seats. It's cabin but also opens up a lot of space both in the front and the rear to keep even the taller occupants happy. Space in both rows is sufficiently comfortable, even with three adults across the back. However, there is no third-row option in the Cayenne. Both front- and rear seats are supportive, with options for heating, and ventilation.

The Cayenne also offers a generous 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row that expands to 60.3 with the rear seats folded. The Cayenne Turbo models drop those numbers to 26.3 and 59.3 cubic feet, respectively. In comparison, the BMW X5 offers a maximum cargo capacity of 72.3 cubic feet.

Some of the interior features on the 2019 Cayenne are:

  • Leather upholstery
  • Cruise Control
  • Climate control
  • Keyless ignition
  • Universal door opener
  • Internal air filtration

The large 12.3 Inch Porsche Connect Plus Infotainment System on the Porsche Cayenne is a definitive highlight as it is a pleasure to operate. The touch response is extremely fluid while the user interface feels intuitive to navigate and upmarket to look at. The 10-speaker standard audio setup on offer is more than enough for most as it offers great sound separation and thumping bass, but if you are an audiophile at heart, then upgrading to the 14 Speaker Bose system or the ear-shattering 21-speaker Burmester System might be something you want to look at.

The 1455 watts of the combined power output of the Burmeister system elevates the overall infotainment experience to the next level and portrays a sound signature that is tough to replicate in the segment. Although the system does come shod with Apple CarPlay, the lack of Android Auto does appear to be a very strange omission.

Some of the more notable infotainment features are mentioned below:

  • Apple CarPlay
  • Sirius XM
  • Wifi Hotspot
  • 12.3 Inch Infotainment Display
  • Porsche Connect Plus System
  • 10-Speaker Hi-fi Audio System/14 Speaker Bose System/ 21 speaker Burmester System

Exterior
8.0/10

The redesigned 2019 Cayenne runs atop a stronger platform, and this 2019 Porsche SUV is almost 2.4 inches longer and an inch wider than the previous model. Also, the new car is lighter and more rigid, thanks to the increased use of aluminum throughout the body. And it is complemented by those better-equipped LED Matrix front headlights integrated with 4-point LED DRLs and relative automatic headlight activation.

Speaking of the Cayenne 2019 color options, the likes of the Palladium Metallic, Jet Black Metallic, Biscay Blue Metallic, Lava Orange, and many more are there for the portrayal. Following the same footsteps of those colors are the 19-inch, 20-inch, 21-inch, and 22-inch wheels and optional packages like the Sport Design Package.

All of the vehicles in question offer some great-looking exteriors, but we would have to point out that the coupe-like design of the Audi Q8 does stand out quite a lot. Even though the Q8 sports the humblest badge amongst the lot, the designers at Audi have certainly made the Q8 extremely pretty and it certainly sits well with the likes of the Porsche and Maserati.

The Levante is a very pretty vehicle to look at too, but in our eyes, we do believe that the design of the Cayenne is much more graceful. The cars come close in terms of dimensions, and it's the ground clearance that makes the cars appear taller or shorter. Some of the other exterior features that make the Porsche Cayenne stand out are as follows:

  • LED Headlights and 4-point LED DRLs
  • 3D LED Taillights
  • 19-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires
  • Rear-wiper Privacy glass for rear windows
  • Aluminum accents on body panels
  • "PORSCHE" logo and model designation on the rear hatch in High Gloss Silver
  • Integrated rear spoiler
  • Twin single-tube tailpipes in brushed stainless steel
  • Active Aero Flaps in the Front

Safety
9.0/10

Like many other higher-end vehicles, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne hasn’t been crash-tested by the NHTSA or the IIHS. The Cayenne does offer some great active safety features. All Cayenne models get a rearview camera, forward-collision warnings, and automatic emergency braking. The available optional safety features include adaptive cruise control, active lane control, surround-view cameras with off-road modes, LED-matrix headlights, and night vision. Some of them have been mentioned below:

  • Automated Emergency Braking
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Night Vision
  • Infrared Camera
  • Front and Rear Parking Sensors
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alerts

Competition
7.9/10

2019 Porsche Cayenne vs 2019 Maserati Levante

The diminishing reputation of Maserati coupled with a lukewarm interior and high price tag serves to make a very weak argument for the Levante. Yes, the Maserati is quicker by the tiniest of margins, but the moment you step to the Cayenne, the Maserati Levante is blown to smithereens.

Moreover, Porsche's racing DNA and exquisite interior quality are unmatchable. It is tough to recommend the Levante over the Cayenne as the latter is not just a better product, but also offers a significantly better after-sales experience as well.

2019 Porsche Cayenne vs 2019 Audi Q8

This comparison goes neck-to-neck, as both the Audi and Porsche come with an AWD and handle the twist and turns with ease.  Yes, the Q8 lacks the sheer power in front of a Porsche, but the Q8 offers the third-row of seating.

Though both the vehicles offer an opulent interior and a comfortable ride, we would recommend going to the Cayenne in case you want that extra oomph. It is pretty evident that Audi has managed to create a fantastic product that would go on to serve as a threat to vehicles even a segment above.

2019 Porsche Cayenne vs 2019 Jaguar F-Pace

The Jaguar F-pace has consistently impressed us in the past when it comes to handling and performance, and even in front of the cayenne, it doesn’t disappoint. Yes, the Cayenne does sport a richer badge on the bonnet, but when it comes to brass tacks, the Jag manages to be significantly faster in its S guise when compared to the base Cayenne while also being significantly cheaper.

Yes, the overall luxury quotient of the Cayenne is a step above, but the Jaguar F-Pace is still a very worthy opponent. The Jaguar may not offer agility around the corners, as good as, Cayenne, it offers a good value for money.

Final Verdict
8.2/10

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne is everything that the Cayenne has stood for in the past and is more for the future. The third generation of the Cayenne features lavish interiors, striking exteriors, and some very meaty mechanicals. The Cayenne can be shod with plenty of technological features, though some of them can be a tad bit too pricey for our liking.

Although there is some stiff competition in the space, as the Cayenne leans more towards performance than practicality, we certainly believe that the Cayenne is the perfect buy for an individual that wants to get a 911 inside his heart, but needs a practical vehicle to lug the family around too!
