The 2024 Subaru Legacy remains mostly unchanged this year other than gaining a new upgraded Harman/Kardon stereo system for the Sport trim. It received a comprehensive makeover just last year and the standard AWD drivetrain makes it the most promising Subaru car to buy in 2024. The 2024 Subaru Legacy price starts at $24,895 excluding the $1,120 destination fee which translates to a price hike of $500 as compared to the previous model year, and yet it is one of the top sedans under $30k in 2024. The 2024 Legacy will be available for sale in the same 5 trim configurations as before and as per its release date, it should reach the dealerships by winter 2023. 

The Subaru Legacy 2024 reaches 60 mph from zero in 8 seconds on its base engine, which gets pumped up to 6.1 seconds with the 2.4L turbocharged inline-4. Depending on the powertrain, the Subaru Legacy can manage a fuel economy of between 31 and 35 mpg on the highway. In the competitive mid-size sedan segment, the Legacy faces stiff competition from other popular sedans like the Honda Accord, Kia K5, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Camry. 

Buying Advice

The 2024 Subaru Legacy Premium trim starting at $27,195 is the one to opt for. The Legacy gets plenty of safety aids as standard right from the base trim but also adds a ton of creature comforts to the mix. 

This trim also opens the door to 2 optional packages that are available with the Premium trim for $1,000 and $2,595. These packages get you a blind-spot monitor, LED foglights, a moonroof, a larger 11.6-inch infotainment system, keyless entry, and push-button start.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2024 Subaru Legacy offers great practicality to its buyers with the standard AWD drivetrain, optional 260 hp turbo-4 capable of doing 0-60 in just 6.1 seconds, a large 15.1 cu-ft trunk space, and plenty of creature comforts. The 2024 Legacy interior offers for all its passengers both at the front and rear and gets 3 interior color options along with 6 different paint color options.

It scores a perfect 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA and the IIHS awarded it with the "Top Safety Pick" accolade for the 2023 model year.  The Subaru Legacy reliability rating of 81/100 from J.D. Power is better than the Chevrolet Malibu but falls behind the segment leaders like the Kia K5. Expect the 5-year cost of ownership to be around $37,990 which is on par with the segment standards. 

The monthly payment for the Legacy 2024 begins at $463 for a period of 60 months at 5.9% APR and a $1,999 down payment. The lease deal for the Legacy sedan starts at $369/month for a 36-month tenure and a 12,000-mile annual limit with no down payment required. Subaru offers a 3-year or 36,000-mile basic warranty but there is no complimentary service program on offer.
