Overview

There is so much good stuff coming from Hyundai and one of them is the all-new 2022 Tucson, their best-selling model. Now in its fourth generation, the new Tucson shares the same design language that the Elantra and the Sonata have. The 2022 Tucson has a starting price of $25,350 and is now available in SE, SEL, N Line, and Limited trims only. It also gets a new powertrain which is a 187-hp 2.5L inline-4 engine.

    Buying Advice

The Tucson SEL trim is the trim to get as it comes with many good features like heated front seats, power-adjustable driver's seat, a choice of two interior color options, 18-inch wheels, SiriusXM satellite radio, push-button start, proximity keyless entry, two more USB ports, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. However, we do recommend getting the Convenience package for a better set of features.

    Comparative Analysis against Competition

With radical styling, impressive refinement and loads of tech, the new Tucson is a winner- Cnet

At least in America, the compact crossover segment is the most popular, especially the mainstream compact crossover segment due to their utility and very fuel-efficient powertrains. The Hyundai Tucson has always been one of the good options within that segment and for 2022, the Tucson is an all-new vehicle. It brings us to a new fuel-efficient powertrain, more technology, and much bigger and wider in size.

If you want to purchase the all-new Tucson, Hyundai is offering some good offers. The 2022 Tucson can be leased for as low as $301 per month for a duration of 36 months with a $0 downpayment. It is also offering a finance option of a 0% APR rate for up to 48 months. These offers expire on 3rd January 2022, according to the Hyundai official website. Grab those offers now if you don't want to miss them.

The Tucson’s value proposition was strong before and after the redesign is even stronger- The Car Connection

The all-new Hyundai Tucson is now available in four trims- SE, SEL, N Line, and Limited, discontinuing the outgoing Value, Sport, and Ultimate trims. Recently, Hyundai also confirmed that it will release the off-road inspired XRT trim very soon. The 2022 Tucson's price starts from $25,350, excluding a destination fee of $1,185. FWD is standard but AWD is available for an extra $1,500.

The new Tucson comes with a whole new set of features on each trim, including wireless connectivity, a larger touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and an array of the latest driver-assist technologies. Hyundai also offers some optional upgrades for some trims. There are not many packages, except for the SEL trim that comes with the Convenience and Premium packages.

    Fuel Economy
    5.0/10

We would also hope for higher figures given the Tucson lacks much in the way of acceleration- Edmunds

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson, with its new engine, has much better fuel economy than the outgoing model. The EPA estimated fuel economy figures are 26 MPG in the city, 33 MPG on the highway, and a combined 29 MPG. With AWD, the fuel economy reduces to 24 MPG in the city, 29 MPG on the highway, and a combined 26 MPG.

Compared to the outgoing mode's 16.4-gallon fuel tank, the 2022 Tucson gets a smaller 14.3-gallon fuel tank. But it doesn't affect the driving range due to improved fuel economy. Hence, the new Tucson is capable of delivering 414 miles of combined range while the AWD models can drive up to 372 miles only.

The fuel efficiency of the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4 is slightly better than the Tucson but the latter offers the best range here. The fuel estimates of the Mazda CX-5 are comparatively less but its large fuel tank helps it to stay on par with the Tucson in terms of range. Overall, the Tucson's gas mileage is really impressive for fuel-conscious people.

    Interior
    7.0/10

Excellent ergonomics and an abundance of interior space make the Tucson's cabin a very pleasant place to be- Edmunds

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson features an all-new interior as it starts a new generation. Modern touches and technology throughout the cabin will grab your attention. There are a lot of creature comforts and ergonomically, they are laid out pretty well. The design might feel familiar but obviously, the Tucson has its own unique look. Both cloth and leather upholsteries are available and the seats offer good comfort and support.

The front seats can be adjusted up to 8 ways with heated and ventilated functionality on higher trims. Passengers at the back can get comfortable too with reclining second-row seats. The new Tucson feels more spacious in both rows of seating thanks to its lengthened proportions. No matter the weather, the available panoramic sunroof provides great views and makes the cabin feel even more spacious.

The standard infotainment setup in the new Tucson is an 8-inch touchscreen that now features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Limited trim comes with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen. Both the displays have crisp graphics, the interface also seems fluidic and the menu structure is simple to understand. Higher trims also get access to an 8-speaker Bose premium audio system, which has terrific sound quality.

Due to much larger proportions, Hyundai was able to improve the cargo area. With the rear seats in place, you get 38.7 cu-ft., which is one of the best in its class. Folding the rear seats expands the space to nearly 75 cu-ft, which is pretty big for this class. You also get ample underfloor storage to store small things. Some important interior features are mentioned below:

    • Dual-zone automatic climate control
    • Heated, leather steering wheel
    • 8-way power front seats
    • Heated & ventilated front seats
    • Heated rear seats
    • Auto-dimming rearview mirror

The new Tucson, styled in South Korea, employs angular lines and a muscular stance- Kelley Blue Book

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson sports the new design language called ‘Parametric Dynamics’  which features a lot of angular lines around the body. However, the main attraction is the grille which takes up most of the front fascia of the and in a tasteful futuristic manner, integrates the headlights and DRLs on either side with the grille. It sits in an all-new platform that is shared with the new Elantra. Therefore, it is much wider, lower, and taller than the previous generation Tucson.

The new Tucson is stretched by around 6 inches at 182.3 inches and its wheelbase is also been lengthened by about 3 inches at 108.5 inches. That's going to give the car a significant amount of space in the back seat. The Tucson also has new taillights that are connected and span the width of the rear and also a roof spoiler and roof rails (only on the SEL trim). The wheels on the new Tucson range from 17 to 19 inches and get unique-looking wheel designs.

The Toyota RAV4 still offers the highest ground clearance in this segment, owing to its mild off-roading character. The Mazda CX-5's short overall length allows it to maneuver easily at tight turns. The short wheelbase of the Honda CR-V helps it to burn off quickly than the Tucson but it still offers respectable rear passenger space. Other exterior highlights are:

    • LED auto high-beam headlights
    • LED DRLs
    • LED taillights
    • Black grille
    • Chrome trim
    • Rear roofline spoiler
    • 17, 18 & 19-inch alloy wheels

We also like the Tucson's set of driver aids- Edmunds

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has not yet been tested by the NHTSA yet. As it is a new platform we expect it to be better than the previous generation. The IIHS has tested the 2022 Tucson and gave an overall 'Good' safety rating and also has been awarded the Top Safety Pick+ award, the top-most honor designated by the organization.

The 2022 Tucson comes equipped with an excellent suite of standard active and passive safety systems, as part of the Hyundai SmartSense Suite. The new Tucson currently offers more driver aids than ever before. As you climb the trim ladder, more safety technologies join the list, and hence, it is a safe SUV. These features include:

    • Forward & Reverse Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection
    • Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Following Assist
    • Highway Driving Assist
    • Driver Attention Warning
    • Rear Occupant Alert
    • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
    • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist
    • Safe Exit Warning
    • Adaptive Cruise Control

    2022 Hyundai Tucson vs 2022 Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 does make more power, offers better performance and towing capacity than the Tucson but its noisier engine might irritate you. Inside, the RAV4 lacks enough rear-seat space for adults and it also offers less cargo space. The Tucson's cabin is more tech-forward and also offers wireless connectivity features. The Tucson also won the Top Safety Pick+ award, which makes it a better pick.

    2022 Hyundai Tucson vs 2022 Honda CR-V

The on-road performance of the Honda CR-V is the best for a base engine in this class. It offers better agility and does not compromise on fuel economy too. Both the SUVs offer an upscale cabin but the Tucson offers wireless connectivity features in its infotainment system even in the base trim whereas the CR-V does not. In terms of safety, the Tucson got top safety ratings and offers more driver aids.

    2022 Hyundai Tucson vs 2022 Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5's driving dynamics and performance are way better than the Tucson. Its optional turbocharged engine delivers an agile acceleration and feels more engaging to drive. It also offers a long list of standard features and terrific safety technologies like the Tucson. Where it lacks is on the inside. its cargo space is below average for the segment and the rear row offers less legroom than the Tucson.

    Final Verdict

The all-new 2022 Hyundai Tucson does offer a good number of features across all trims. Even though its performance is not as good as the competition, it is the interior that makes up for it by providing a good amount of space and having a very attractive design, not to mention the many technology and safety features included as standard. However, if you are looking for more performance and more space, do look at the Honda CR-V.

                Kia and Hyundia.. hmmm

Pros - The Color is crimson red, The Interior is comfortable

Cons - All the Noises, Any problems that might arise

I was very happy to get this vehicle because I had a 2017 and loved it. But now with all the problems coming up with Kia and Hyundai. I don't know what to do or think of this company ? I am afraid that this will become a very big problem in the future. Love the cars they have but so many problems that are showing up .
