Overview

If you’re buying a car for a whole new level of futuristic and premium experience then get a Kia or a Hyundai. And Genesis if you’ve got the budget!

That’s what everyone thinks about Hyundai manufactured cars and there are good reasons to believe so. These days, Hyundais are the definition of advanced technology while keeping the car supremely reliable. And the 2025 Hyundai Tucson is not an exception either.

Yes, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson is here and it has come with some mild yet effective updates this year. The prices have gone up by $755 as the base 2025 Tucson will come at an MSRP of $28,355, but we think the updates are worth more than just that.

Buying Advice

To us, the 2025 Tucson is incomplete without most of its tech features. If you’re getting one we’d suggest you go for the highest spec because that’s where you get all the bells and whistles of the new generations of Hyundais.

But, we understand that spending over $38,000 can be a bit too much for quite a lot of people, especially on an SUV. In that case, you can go for the SEL Convenience model which comes at a starting MSRP of $32,665.

What I always suggest is to get the AWD option if you can. It can be a bit costly and inefficient but it surely gives you a better level of confidence.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson gets a mid-life refreshment this model year. The overall look is changed, the vibe is a bit different this time and the interior gets a major upgrade this time.

Most importantly, Hyundai has listened to some of our previous criticism. But that does not make it a bulletproof product, does it?

Even though the 2025 Hyundai Tucson is one of favorite SUVs in the market, it may not please every type of buyer. For a family, it’s a perfect fit. For someone who wants their car to be relevant 10 years down the road, it’s the best they can get.

But if you crave for a fun-to-drive machine even if it’s a family car, then the Tucson is not for you. You’ll find the 2.5-liter engine to be sluggish. You can get the self-charging or the plug-in hybrid models for more power but they also have a similar vibe.

So, comfort is there, tech is there, but if you want fun, get something else but a Tucson.

Engine and Performance

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson comes standard with a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that churns out 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. To be honest, it’s not fast, definitely not happy in the corners if you push it.

If you’re someone who loves to drive gently, then the 2025 Tucson will serve you the best. 0 to 60 MPH is somewhere around 9 seconds and that’s fine for a regular car.

While the FWD drivetrain is standard in all the models, upgrading to AWD will cost you an additional $1,500. We drove both the FWD and AWD in mild rain, and yes, the premium does give you a bit more confidence for sure!

In terms of efficiency, EPA claims that the FWD will provide 25 MPG inside the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The AWD on the other hand, is supposed to deliver 24 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.

But in reality, we could churn out a maximum of 31 MPG from the FWD while the AWD driving with a slightly heavy foot earned us a combined efficiency of 25 MPG. To be fair, it’s not bad, just that the claimed figures are a bit away from the actual reality.

Now, coming to the ride quality, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson retains its soft nature when it comes to soaking undulations and potholes. But as we mentioned earlier, push it into a corner and you’ll feel the underconfidence kicking in!

Rest, the ride is good overall, and we would’ve had no complaints if we didn’t try to drive it enthusiastically. Not all the cars are meant for going fast, some, like the 2025 Hyundai Tucson, are meant to take it slow and enjoy the drive!

Interior

The interior is where the 2025 Tucson outperforms almost every other competitor in its segment. It’s loaded with features and luxury and we think that’s why you buy a Hyundai these days. The best and most reliable tech in cars. And these are practical features that you will use during your ownership.

You can get the interior in three different theme options, one is black, then you have a gray and the last one is gray with green. In all the three options, you’ll find a lot of leather all around making you feel like you’re sitting inside a Merc or an Audi.

Moreover, the steering wheel is new with Hyundai’s new signature logo. At the back it’s got the 12.3 inch driver information display alongside the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. These have got quite faster this time and they’re easy to navigate through as well.

The center console has a few buttons, but Hyundai has gone for a minimalistic design, so the area isn’t crowded at all. What’s worth mentioning is that you get dedicated knobs for volume adjustments and Air-Conditioning from now on. Yes, that’s counted as a safety!

The 2025 Hyundai Tucsom comes with ventilated seats and that takes the experience to a whole new level. They’re comfortable as well! Plus, the leather all around including the doors and handrests, makes it feel very premium to be in.

Another important update in the 2025 Tucson is that they’ve added a column shifter type gear lever which just releases a ton of space in the center console. Now you have a storage compartment inside the middle armrest as well as underneath it. Plus, Hyundai has churned out another open storage in the passenger side of the dashboard, making it a very practical family car.

The back seats are comfortable too! The only thing is that you get slightly less leather on the doors compared to the front row. Rest, there’s enough headroom, legroom in the rear seats, and they also come with decent thigh support.

Exterior

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson is refreshed with a more rugged look than before. Earlier, it already had a bold and futuristic design, but this time it’s more squared off. The DRL designs received a similar update as well.

The headlamp however, looks pretty similar to what it was before. The 2025 Hyundai Tucson will offer LED headlamps as standard while the upper trims will come with projector headlamps.

In the top-end trim levels, the 2025 Tucson receives newly designed 19-inch alloy rims while the lower trims will come with 17-inch units.

Other than that, the side profile is pretty much the same, which is quite usual for a mid-life upgrade to any car.

At the back you get regular tail-lamp setup, but your turn indicators are on the bumper with the reverse lamp. That’s something we do not appreciate, Hyundai could’ve easily put it in the tail lamp setup up above, that way it’d get better visibility.

Final Verdict

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson is a well balanced SUV for the family or even an individual who wants a comfortable car under a budget. It’s spacious, plush, and has enough tech to survive the next whole decade without a flinch.

Only issue is that it's not for those who want to have a fun-to-drive experience from their SUVs. It’s not like it has to be there, but even the driving feel is a bit less reassuring in the corners as we mentioned earlier. So that’s about it, if you want a driver’s SUV then something like a Volkswagen Atlas can suit you better.

Great SUV for an affordable price

Pros - ["Smooth ride", "Great warranty"]

Cons - ["Fuel economy", "Sluggish acceleration"]

The Hyundai Tucson delivers a lot of value for the money, providing a comfortable ride and helpful technology features. I also like its upscale-feeling cabin and roomy cargo space. Unfortunately it's dogged by a sluggish engine that has trouble keeping pace when the traffic speeds up. Still, the Tucson is a thoughtful small SUV.
