The 2025 Hyundai Tucson comes standard with a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that churns out 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. To be honest, it’s not fast, definitely not happy in the corners if you push it.
If you’re someone who loves to drive gently, then the 2025 Tucson will serve you the best. 0 to 60 MPH is somewhere around 9 seconds and that’s fine for a regular car.
While the FWD drivetrain is standard in all the models, upgrading to AWD will cost you an additional $1,500. We drove both the FWD and AWD in mild rain, and yes, the premium does give you a bit more confidence for sure!
In terms of efficiency, EPA claims that the FWD will provide 25 MPG inside the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The AWD on the other hand, is supposed to deliver 24 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.
But in reality, we could churn out a maximum of 31 MPG from the FWD while the AWD driving with a slightly heavy foot earned us a combined efficiency of 25 MPG. To be fair, it’s not bad, just that the claimed figures are a bit away from the actual reality.
Now, coming to the ride quality, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson retains its soft nature when it comes to soaking undulations and potholes. But as we mentioned earlier, push it into a corner and you’ll feel the underconfidence kicking in!
Rest, the ride is good overall, and we would’ve had no complaints if we didn’t try to drive it enthusiastically. Not all the cars are meant for going fast, some, like the 2025 Hyundai Tucson, are meant to take it slow and enjoy the drive!
