Overview

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is the latest addition to the Tucson lineup. It showcases exceptional design, top-notch quality, and utmost passenger safety. Betting on all advantages of Hybrid technology, Hyundai has crafted a unique line-up for 2022. In its fourth generation, the Tucson Hybrid comes in three options, the Hybrid Blue, SEL Convenience, and Limited models. The price starts at around $29,050 and goes up to $37,350 for the Limited trim. Moreover, the performance is taken care of by a robust set powertrain underneath. It gets a 1.6-Liter Intercooled Turbo engine along with a 44.2kW Electric motor.

Buying Advice

Priced just $2600 more than the base Blue trim, the SEL Convenience trim offers great features at the price of $31,650. Although the base Blue trim is quite the bargain in itself, the SEL Convenience ups the ante. So, that is what we’ll recommend. The Limited is a little too pricey.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The exterior design of the new Tucson resembles a tough persona with a sporty stance. With bigger 17-inch alloy wheels, a sporty lip spoiler, colored grille, roof back rails, LED DRLs, and deep-tinted glass, the new Tucson Hybrid is destined to stir the segment. The interior space is equally impressive with ample passenger room, heated front seats with 8-way power adjustments, and an updated infotainment system. The car also equips a wide range of advanced safety systems and driver aids to ensure complete passenger protection.

Features

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has been offered in three trim levels- Blue, SEL Convenience, and Limited. Each trim comes from HTRAC AWD. The base level, Blue, starts at $29,050. The SEL Convenience HEV starts at $31,650. The most expensive hybrid trim package, the Limited, costs $37,350. All three trims of the Tucson hybrid come equipped with a 1.6-Liter gas turbo engine.

It works in conjunction with an electric motor to develop 226 hp and 258 feet of torque.

All three versions of the Hybrid SUV get the same powertrain setup. The new all-wheel-drive system is also common across all the trims. The new Tucson will offer a combined mileage of 38 MPG thanks to the efficient hybrid engine. All these figures are EPA estimates though. Moreover, with a massive 13.7-gallon fuel tank and hybrid technology underneath, the SUV offers a staggering 520 plus miles of range.

The best driving range is delivered by Ford Escape Hybrid followed by Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. The CR-V comes in a very close third in terms of the overall range. However, the Tucson Hybrid lacks both in range and efficiency when compared to the rivals in the group.

Interior
8.9/10

The interior of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid features modern design elements alongside an array of premium and high-quality materials. Multi-Air Mode technology, which is Hyundai’s way of describing multi-zone climate control, maintains ambient cabin conditions to make you feel relaxed at all times. Moreover, the comfort is elevated with extended support and premium leatherette upholstery.

There are also a few additional packages like the SEL Convenience package. This adds a Panoramic sunroof alongside other creature comforts that make the new SUV more versatile and practical. Rest assured, meticulous attention to detail has been given at every corner of the cabin.

The Tucson amazes consumers with its capacious cabin. Both rear and front occupants can relax with ample legroom and headroom. The seats are well-bolstered and get extended support. Competitors like RAV4 Hybrid and Escape Hybrid also showcase impressive interior space and ample cargo volume, however, Tucson feels the most well-balanced of the group.

The displays on the screen are quite intuitive alongside smartphone-like controls. However, the center stage is taken by the new 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation that includes smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SUV also features a new Wireless charging deck with a 15-watt charging pad. Some exclusive features like Hyundai Digital Key and Bluelink Connected Car can also be added.

The infotainment is paired with a standard 6-speaker audio system, Sirius XM Audio System, and Bluetooth Wireless Phone Connectivity.

Highlighted features inside Infotainment and Connectivity are:

  • 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation
  • Sirius XM Audio system with a 6-speaker audio
  • Hyundai Digital key
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Bluetooth Wireless Phone Connectivity
  • Wireless charging
  • Bluelink connected car technology

Exterior
8.9/10

The new Tucson Hybrid flaunts a unique front design and a sporty rear. From the outside, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid does appear futuristic with a highly detailed design. In addition to that, the angular design also gives it a mean and aggressive stance. Moreover, the higher trims come with massive 19-inch alloy wheels as standard.

Other stand-out features on the exterior include a lip spoiler and sophisticated DRLs, both in the front and rear. This makes Tucson stand out against the competition. Also, the build quality seems to be exceptionally good.
