In the 2019 Chevy Tahoe, you would find a 5.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 motor which powers the whole line-up. It produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft. of torque. This engine is mated with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and channels power either to the rear wheels or all the wheels depending upon the drivetrain.
For the ‘Premier’ trim, you have an option for a 6.2-liter V8 motor, which surely has even better power figures and has tremendous capability. The 6.2L V8 comes mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Despite being the bulkier structure, it manages to make a 0-60 mph sprint in just 6.7 seconds and covers a quarter-mile distance in 15.2 seconds. These numbers are for the 5.3L V8 Motor, however, the 6.2L V8 motor offers even better performance.

All the aforementioned SUVs have truly a strong powertrain, but Tahoe has the least power figures in the competition. The Expedition on the other side has the smallest engine but got fitted with a twin-turbocharger. This results in impressive power figures and is also the quickest in the segment. The Tahoe manages its 0-60 mph sprint quite well, and the Sequoia takes much longer to do the same.
How well does the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe handle?
The Tahoe's ride and handling characteristics are second-to-none. Chevy is offering a new Trail Rated badge, which is designed to appeal to the outdoorsy types who will be able to take their Tahoes on more trails than ever before. Being a full-sized SUV, the 2019 Tahoe suffers quite a bit in sharp curves, but still, it manages its body roll quite well.
The SUV doesn’t feel that bulky while driving and has decent agility which makes driving easier. The suspensions are tuned to provide a softer ride and the steering response is quite impressive. Being the rear-wheel-drive vehicle, it truly gives a fun-to-drive experience and the AWD is better for off-roading and towing capabilities.
2019 Chevrolet Tahoe Braking Performance
The 2019 Tahoe along with the powerful engine has an impressive braking performance as well. Despite being bulky, it manages to decelerate from 60-0 mph in just 121 ft. Disc brakes are provided at both front and the rear which are of 13.0-inches and 13.6-inches respectively, which are best to handle this massive structure.

The Tahoe has decent-sized brake rotors which were doing their duty very well. Weighing over 5300 lbs, it has quite a good stopping distance. The Sequoia has the largest front rotors which handle that bulky SUV well. The Tahoe and Ford Explorer stop from 60 mph first, while the Sequoia needs about 10 feet more than the Tahoe to stop.
