Release Date

The 2024 Chevy Trax was unveiled in October of 2022. The new model year is expected to arrive in the spring of 2023 at your nearest dealership. 

The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is going to bring a completely new powertrain option for the car with the launch of its second generation. The Chevy Trax will now be powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged Inline-3 engine. The engine produces a maximum of 137 horsepower and a peak torque of 162 lb-ft. The power and torque figures are less compared to the previous generation of the car which is a move to enhance the fuel economy of the car. The Chevy Trax uses a 6-speed automatic transmission to send power to the front wheel of the car. 

Since the 2024 Chevy Trax has not been launched yet and has not been tested yet for its acceleration, it is hard to comment on the acceleration timings for those who wish to know how fast it launches. 2024 Chevrolet Trax Ride and Handling

The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is not out yet so it is hard to comment on the ride and handling of the model year. Talking about the previous generation of the car, it was notorious for its ride and handling and Chevy needed to improve in that aspect if they wanted to succeed in the segment. The 2023 Nissan Kicks comes with small brake rotors compared to the rivals but the braking performance is not available for the same. The 2023 Hyundai Venue impresses with its braking performance. It comes with 11-inch brake rotors in the front and 10.3-inch brake rotors in the rear which helps it come to a complete halt from 70 mph in just 162 feet. The Kia Soul comes right after that taking 172 feet to stop from the same speed functioning on the same braking hardware.

The biggest improvement that we can expect from the 2024 Chevy Trax will include the fuel economy department of the SUV. The new engine produces less power and torque compared to the previous engine and that is a move taken to further increase the efficiency of the vehicle. According to the information available so far, you can expect the 2024 Chevy Trax to return 28 mpg in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg of combined fuel economy. The 2023 Nissan Kicks takes a lead in the fuel efficiency department compared to its rivals. The Nissan Kicks claim to return 31 mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway, and 33 mpg of combined fuel efficiency which is the best in the class. The fuel economy figures of the Hyundai Venue and the Kia Soul remain the same in city driving conditions but the Kia Soul manages to return a slightly better economy in highway driving conditions. The 2024 Chevrolet Trax still remains behind the competition in the fuel economy area but by a very small margin. 

The interior layout of the 2023 Chevy Trax will depend on the trim level you buy. But the practicality and the space inside the cabin will remain the same throughout the lineup. As you get inside the interior of the car, you will notice the beautiful and minimal design language in the interior of the car. Chevy has played smart with the overall interior layout. On the top ACTIV trim level, you will notice a beautiful two-tone finish in the interior which starts right from the door of the car. The dashboard also gets that two-tone finish with a beautiful metallic gray finish in the center of the dashboard that separates the upper and the lower part. The design of the ac vents does look cool for sure. The space is not a problem in either row and it can accommodate four adult passengers comfortably inside the cabin. The cargo area is also quite good and it becomes even better with the ability to fold down the rear seats. 

All the cars in the competition are compact SUVs and expecting a roomy interior might disappoint you in some cases. However, they are not that cramped either. Some of them prioritize passenger volume over the cargo area while others do just the opposite. All the cars in the competition can accommodate five passengers in the cabin but they are best suited for four passengers only. The 2024 Chevrolet Trax offers the best passenger volume in the class. The Nissan Kicks takes the second spot followed by the Hyundai Venue at the third position in terms of overall passenger volume with a small margin. The same is not available for the Kia Soul.

The infotainment system gets all the basic features that you expect from a compact SUV in this segment. The user interface is pretty easy to use and there is no delay in the touch response while using the controls. The 2024 Chevy Trax gets inspiration from its bigger sibling Chevy Trax in terms of exterior styling. The first thing that you will notice when looking at the front of the car is the long LED daytime running lights on the top of the car. As you go a little down, you will find the large LED housing that accommodates the LED projector beam headlights in the top trims and it gets a nice blacked-out effect in the headlight housing to give it a better look. The main attraction at the front is the massive black grille that is again inspired by the Chevy Blazer. The Chevy badge is placed right above the grille. That is quite evident when you compare the passenger volume of all these cars. The Nissan Kicks comes in the second position in terms of overall length and wheelbase followed by the Kia Soul. The Hyundai Venue is the most compact car in the competition when you look at the overall length or the length of the wheelbase. It is also the lightest of them all.
