Overview
Competing in the fullsize SUV segment, the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban goes up against other notable names in the class, like the Ford Expedition MAX, the Nissan Armada, and the GMC Yukon XL. Spread across 3 trims, the Chevrolet Suburban starts off at a base price of MSRP $52,095 and carries on to $72,250. Not all trims are built equal, however, as there are 2 powertrains on offer. Starting off is the 5.3L V8 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Making 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, this engine makes the Chevrolet Suburban capable of accelerating from a standstill to 60 MPH in just 7.1 seconds and carries the capability to tow 8,300 pounds. One can also opt for a bigger 6.2L V8 engine that is paired to the 10-speed automatic transmission. With 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, this engine gets you a towing capacity of 8,100 pounds.
Buying Advice
The 6.2L V8 would certainly be our first preference, however, its availability on only the top-end Premier model won’t lure some buyers. In such a case, we would hop on the mid-level LT trim that packs in much more decent features and offers much flexibility with its optional upgrades. Just remember, to get the most out of it, the Max Trailering Package is a must.
