Overview

Fresh off a redesign in 2021, the 2022 Honda Accord does not get any update this year. The only update this year is that the Accord hybrid is no longer offered in the EX trim and is replaced by the Sport trim. The powertrain front will be carried over, with the 2.0L naturally aspirated and the 1.5L turbo-4 engine running on point with no manual transmission on offer. The 2022 Honda Accord price starts at $26,520 excluding the destination fee for the base LX trim, which means a price hike of $1,630 over the previous model year

Featuring a 5-trim lineup of the Accord, the 2022 Honda Accord MSRP can be an expense of $27,615-$39,545 this season. Having said that, it simply translates to the fact that the range-leader 2022 Honda Accord Touring will cost you $11,930 more than the base Accord for enhanced specs and assets.

We Recommend

The 2022 Honda Accord Sport SE trim not only gets some added features but is also powered by a more powerful engine. Also, since the price does not hike considerably, it offers the most value to its buyers.

The 2022 Accord is available for sale in a wide array of 5 trim configurations to suit the needs of buyers with different budgets. Despite having a very affordable price tag, the car’s opulence matches some of the top luxury cars in this industry. The all-new Honda Accord faces competition from some of the best mid-size sedans in the market such as the frugal Toyota Camry, the affordable Nissan Altima, and the value-for-money Hyundai Sonata.

2022 Honda Accord for sale

Honda Accord buyers can reap the benefits of APR as low as 1.9% for up to 48 months. The monthly payments start at $487 for a 60-month duration. Lease deals begin at $309/month for 36 months with $4,240 due at the time of signing and an annual mileage of 10,000 miles.

For budget-oriented buyers, the used Honda Accord can be availed of with a base price of $1,500. Going for older model years like the 2019 Honda Accord could be a matter of $15,900 and Honda Accord 2019 can cost as much as $40,050 along with a listing of up to 3,367 in total.

Buying Advice

We recommend picking the Sport trim for the most bang for your buck with its 10 speed automatic transmission and turbocharged 2L engine. It's better to avoid the lower trims with the CVT transmission. For a more performance-oriented use case, the Touring packs a strong punch and is recommended over the Sport trims.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The new 2022 Honda Accord certainly grabs eyeballs, with acing in each and every segment, despite the tough competition from some of the older rivals. The interior of the Honda Accord is very spacious and has a premium feel to it and comes loaded with features. The trunk space is amongst the best in the business, while the impressive fuel economy figures shall come in handy with the steep rise in gas prices in the country.

The Honda Accord is one of the popular midsize sedans in the American market for its impressive efficiency and reliability. J.D. Power rates the 2022 Accord with a reliability rating of 83/100 which makes it the leader of the segment. The 5-year cost of ownership value of $30,325 is also on par with the segment standards. All these aspects have helped Honda in garnering huge sales figures with the Honda Accord despite the masses joining the SUV bandwagon.

Buying Advice

Out of the well-laden trim lineup of the 2022 Honda Accord, we would recommend you to go for the Sport 2.0T model. The valid reason behind this is, apart from the sumptuous feature list Honda has procured for you, you also get treated with the much more potent 252 hp 2.0L turbo-four engine. The Accord Sport was a pretty popular model, as it did come with a 6-speed manual transmission unit earlier on, but come the year 2022, one might have to let do with the CVT. Honda has also offered plenty of customization packages on offer, which makes this trim all the more worthy.

Features
8.5/10

Offered in over 6 trim levels, namely LX, Sport, Sport SE, EX-L, Sport 2.0T, and Touring, Honda delivers the latest features on offer with the 2022 Honda Accord. While the lower trims get the 1.5L turbo-4 engine with CVT transmission, the higher Sport 2.0T and the Touring trims get the 2L 252 hp turbo-4 engine with a 10-speed automatic. Honda Accord price range lies between $26,520 for the base LX model to a staggering $38,450 for the top Touring trim. As standard, Honda offers the Honda Sensing Suite of driver aids like front collision mitigation, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control, right from the base trim.

The Sport trim adds leatherette upholstery, an 8-speaker audio system, larger 19-inch alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler to the base model. The Sport SE trim gets you more creature comforts like a remote engine start, heated front seats, heated mirrors, and leather upholstery for an added $1,490. The EX-L model removes the paddle shifters, spoilers, and larger wheels from the Sport models and instead adds a blind-spot monitor, garage door transmitter, wireless device charging pad, front & rear parking sensors, a sunroof, and a premium audio system.

The Sport 2.0T builds on the Sport SE trim and further adds a sunroof, satellite radio with real-time traffic updates, a blind-spot monitor, and unique 19-inch wheels. The top-end Touring trim is built upon the EX-L trim and apart from the 2L turbo-4 engine, it adds premium features like adaptive suspension, rain-sensing wipers, head-up display, ventilated front seats & heated rear seats, navigation, and mobile hotspot, which takes the MSRP to $38,450. Honda does not believe in optional features and packages and hence the Honda 2022 Accord does not get any apart from the standard utilitarian features.

Fuel Economy
7.7/10

Those more focused on fuel efficiency should hope the Accord Hybrid sticks around for 2022—it probably will - Motor Trend

The 2022 Honda Accord is one of the most efficient sedans in the market today and it has been a major reason behind its success. The Accord is rated to return 30 MPG in the city, 38 MPG out on the highway, and 33 MPG combined, while the 14.8-gallon fuel tank offers an impressive 488 miles of combined range. Opt for the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, and the MPG ratings drop to 22/32/26 MPG in city/highway/combined conditions which also reduces the combined driving range to 385 miles with the same 14.8-gallon gas tank capacity. The 2022 Accord hybrid on the other hand gets an EPA rating of 48 MPG and offers a range of over 600 miles.

All cars in the competition offer more or less similar fuel economy figures which are about 1 MPG less than the Accord. But when it comes to range, the Nissan Altima takes the podium thanks to its larger 16.2-gallon fuel tank capacity. The Camry too offers a larger gas tank which takes its combined driving range over the 500-mile mark. The Hyundai Sonata on the other hand has the shortest range to offer.

Interior
7.7/10

We have no reason to believe the Accord's passenger or cargo space would change for the 2022 model year - Motor Trend

The interior of the 2022 Honda Accord has the potential to make you fall for it at very first glance, despite its low starting MSRP. The interior hasn't left any room for complaints, so it will continue with the same charm as its predecessor. Honda as a brand has never compromised on its quality, and its interior reflects its commitment to perfection. The seats along with the shift knobs and steering wheel are wrapped in premium perforated leather for comfort and luxury. The seats are very supportive, and headroom and legroom are abundantly available for both the driver and passengers. That said, Honda offers only Black interior color with most trims while the higher trims get an option for Beige upholstery.

Honda's 8-inch infotainment system is one of the slickest and most intuitive systems on offer in the market today.  The cargo space of the 2022 Accord had always been better than most of the competitors, as a result of which, the 2022 model won’t get any changes in the cargo capacity front. While the base model gets a 4-speaker audio system which is upgraded an 8-speaker unit from Sport trim onwards. The EX-L and Touring trims feature a premium 10-speaker 450-Watt sound system. The trunk shape and its width will remain the same for this model year, and the 16.7 cu-ft of trunk space is the best in the segment.

Other than that in this price range, it has the best luxury and comfortable cabin in the segment. Though the Hyundai Sonata is slightly more spacious than the Accord 2022, it is the final comfort and fitting that matters, and that is where the Honda Accord shines. It even leaves behind its Japanese counterparts such as Toyota and Nissan.

  • Heated/Ventilated front seats & heated rear seat
  • Power front seat w/driver seat memory
  • Perforated leather upholstery and dual-zone climate control
  • Head-up display & Head-up display
  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system w/10-speaker 450W audio system
  • Honda Satellite Navigation & Real-time traffic
  • HD Radio & Satellite radio
  • HondaLink and Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot

Exterior
7.7/10

The exterior of the 2022 Honda Accord looks very sophisticated and has a ton of similarities with the German luxury sedans. The 2022 model year has followed the same traits as its predecessor in terms of design, and no major changes were noticed from spy shots. As the 2021 Accord iteration did get a mild styling refresh, in the form of a new front grille, new alloy wheels, and new exterior color schemes, the Accord 2022 will carry forward those same changes without bringing about anything extra.

The design layout of its exterior is kept pretty modern and edgy, and it perfectly suits a family car hence there is no change to the dimensions of the car. Honda has poured all their engineering skills into designing the exterior which looks very expensive at the very first glance, although it is very affordable. The 17-inch alloy wheels are standard for all trims apart from the Sport models which feature larger 19-inch alloys. There are 6 different paint color options available for buyers to choose from.

All cars in the competition have almost similar dimensions, while Accord is significantly wider and longer. Honda also offers higher ground clearance than others in this comparison while the Altima rides the lowest. On the streets, it's the Sonata and Camry that looks the most striking. Some of the key exterior features of this car are mentioned below-

  • Chrome exterior trim
  • Speed-sensitive rain-sensing Wipers
  • Auto On/Off Projector beams w/front fog lights
  • Power sunroof
  • 19-inch Alloy wheels

Safety
9.9/10

It has been laid out with all the basic safety features that include airbags, stability control, rearview camera, traction control, and much more. Moreover, coming to the crash tests too, the 2021 iteration did get the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and the NHTSA 5-star rating. We can also expect the same from the 2022 Accord as well. Mentioned below are some of the standout safety features of the Accord that makes its cabin one of the safest place to be in-

  • Lane departure warning
  • Forward collision warning
  • Blindspot monitor
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Low tire pressure monitoring system
  • Emergency braking assist

Competition
9.0/10

2022 Honda Accord vs 2022 Toyota Camry

Both of these cars share a deeply laden rivalry every year. Talking about Camry, it comes out to be slightly better in features when it comes to comfort & safety. But the Accord has much better dimensions. Both cars offer a great driving experience, engines, etc.

But the plus point of the Camry is that it comes with a V6 engine option, which is not available in the Accord. In this comparison, we think Toyota is a clear winner by a slight margin.

2022 Honda Accord vs 2022 Hyundai Sonata

The Hyundai Sonata offers similar acceleration performance and yet costs considerably less. It's almost as frugal as the Accord and both also have a similarly sized trunk. Hyundai offers the best-in-class front row legroom but it compromises the rear seat space.

The Sonata looks more striking but the Accord has its own fan following in the midsize family segment. Hyundai offers a comprehensive 10-year warranty program but Hondas are a lot more reliable and get you better resale value.

2022 Honda Accord vs 2022 Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima doesn't seem to beat the likes of the Honda Accord, but it does have some good things about it which set it apart. Altima comes with an all-wheel drive option and a more affordable price point.

But Accord has better power, a more comfortable and spacious cabin as well as trunk space, and obviously great driving dynamics which is way better than the Altima. So, in this comparison between these two cars, the Accord seems to be a clear winner for us.

Final Verdict

The 2022 Honda Accord fulfills all the basic requirements that we usually expect from a family sedan like good comfort, spacious trunk and cabin, good driving dynamics, and fuel economy. When we compare the Accord side-by-side with its competitors, it lacks in certain segments such as cabin noise and tech features. At this price range, however, the Camry feels slightly better than Accord, but the driving dynamics, and responsive feedback of the latter are still unmatched. So we'll still stick with the 2022 Honda Accord, despite it not getting any major updates.

              Frequently Asked Questions

Does the 2022 Honda Accord get the 6-speed manual transmission as standard?
No, it is highly unlikely that the 2022 Honda Accord gets a 6-speed manual transmission again, at least for this year. The CVT and the 10-Speed auto will carry out the transmission duties effortlessly.
              Does Accord hold its value?
