Overview

The 2022 Toyota Camry remains largely unchanged as compared to the 2021 model year. Apart from certain feature updates across trim levels, such as the dual-zone automatic climate control being offered as standard, and also the Icy Edge exterior shade now offered with the LE, SE, and the XSE trims, the 2022 Camry has been carried over. The 2022 Toyota Camry hybrid trims now get access to the Nightshade appearance package. Toyota has hiked the price by $800 and the 2022 Toyota Camry price starts at $25,845 and an additional $1,095 destination fee is levied across all the trim configurations.

Featuring a 6-trim lineup of LE, SE, SE Nightshade Edition, XLE, XSE and TRD, the 2022 Toyota Camry MSRP can be an expense of $25,845-$32,910 this season. Having said that, it simply translates to the fact that the range-leader Camry TRD 2022 will cost you $7,065 more than the base LE for enhanced specs and assets.

We Recommend

With a good balance of desirable features and an msrp of $32,240, the 2022 Camry XSE V6 can be considered as the most desirable trim option. A more powerful V-6 engine and a long list of creature comforts make the XSE trim our recommendation.

The Toyota Camry 2022 offers three different powertrain options, depending on the trim configurations. The 2022 Toyota Camry LE and SE models are equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine, offering 203 horsepower. The XLE, XSE trims can be equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, offering 301 hp. The 2022 Toyota Camry mpg of 32 mpg combined (LE, SE and SE Nightshade Edition) is impressive. The 2022 Toyota Camry interior might not be modern but a trunk space of 15.1 cubic feet is decent. The Camry is more powerful than the Honda Accord, offers better gas mileage than the Mazda6 and better rear seat legroom than the Nissan Altima

2022 Toyota Camry for sale

The base lease deal for the Toyota Camry 2022 starts at $373/month for 36 months considering an annual drive of 12,000 miles with $3,023 due at signing the deal. The Camry 2022 SE can also be financed at an APR of 3.49% at $454/month with $2,000 down payment. Toyota is also offering a $500 rebate for graduates and military personnels.

For budget-oriented buyers, the used 2022 Toyota Camry can be availed of with a base price of $13,950. Going for older model years like the 2021 Camry could be a matter of $11,950 and Toyota Camry 2020 can cost as much as $9,950 along with a listing of up to 23,754 in total.

Buying Advice

There are plenty of Camry trims to choose from. We would suggest opting for the XSE as it offers an array of features compared to the other trims. It gets major design enhancement along with the sport-tuned suspension. The XSE trim gives you offerings like blind-spot monitoring, leather upholstery, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also offers creature comfort features like heated seats and a panoramic sunroof.

Fuel Economy
8.0/10

The four-cylinder Camry SE's EPA fuel economy rating is among the best in its class at 32 mpg combined- Edmunds

The Toyota Camry 2022 mpg ratings are competitive but not the best in the segment. With an EPA-estimated gas mileage of 28 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 32 mpg in combined cycles, the Camry is an efficient sedan. The powerful V6 motor is a gas guzzler meaning it consumes more fuel, so the mpg figures dip down to 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. With a gas tank size of 15.8 gallons, the standard Camry can deliver a driving range of up to 442/616/506 miles in the city/highway.combined driving conditions.

The Mazda 6 sedan has the biggest gas tank followed by the Nissan Altima, which offers the best range in class thanks to the combination of a big fuel tank and the superior MPG figures which are identical to the Toyota Camry. The Honda Accord takes the lead when it comes to the city MPG figures but it is pushed to second place while on the highways. The highway mpg leaders are the Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima.

Interior
8.1/10

The Camry serves a purpose: deliver reliable and practical transportation for families - Motortrend

Inside, the 2022 Toyota Camry offers you one of the most spacious cabins in the segment. The dashboard design is ergonomic but the central design might be uninspiring for some. The quality of materials used are acceptable but the higher trims like the Camry XLE and XSE get the best interior trim elements and quality. The 2022 Toyota Camry interior also offers one of the best front and rear passenger seats. Coming to interior features, Toyota has been generous and now even the base Camry LE trims come with dual-zone climate control as standard. Some other features like remote keyless entry system, 4.2-inch TFT MID, fabric-trimmed seats, 3-spoke steering wheel with controls, wood inlay interior trim and silver door handles are standard.

As you climb the trim ladder, features like 7-inch MID, leather upholstery, multi-stage heated front seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel, optional 10-inch HUD, ambient lighting, and rear seat reading lights offer enhanced convenience. The interior upholstery can be had in Black, Ash and Macadamia depending on the trim. The 2022 Camry XSE interior also offers Cockpit Red color for a more sporty ambiance matching its dynamic handling. The cargo space is also competitive in the Camry as the standard cargo space on offer is 15.1 cubic feet, which can be increased further thanks to the 60/40 split-folding rear seats. Also, there is storage space in the covered center console, armrest, and door pockets.

The front legroom in the Toyota Camry might be slightly smaller than the others, but overall it offers more space in the rear, and also has an adequately spaced trunk. The 2022 Honda Accord, however, wins this round with ease with better space in the cabin and a relatively large trunk. The Honda Accord is followed by Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry and Mazda 6 sedan.

The intuitive Entune 3.0 infotainment system is standard across all the trim levels. With general features like Bluetooth, AUX, and USB connectivity, the Camry’s infotainment system also offers a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. A set of six speakers is standard for a decent output. For better output a set of nine speakers from JBL, paired with the 9-inch screen of the XLE and XSE trims is available as well.

Some of the key interior features of the 2022 Camry are:

  • Heated front seats
  • Powered driver’s seat
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • 60/40 split rear seatback
  • Apple CarPlay
  • Android Auto
  • Leather upholstery
  • 9-inch infotainment touchscreen

Exterior
8.1/10

The Camry has a long nose and a short trunk that give it rear-drive proportions more in line with the European luxury cars - The CarConnection

The 2021 Toyota Camry has received a much-appreciated upgrade to the front fascia which brings in a blacked-out grille, LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs. Having said that, the Sedan has received much appreciation for the looks and the 2022 Camry is expected to get just a few minor updates which will make it even more aggressive than the previous model. The 2022 Toyota Camry inculcates the perfect combination of elegance and an outright aggressive stance. The prominent Camry grille in the front is partnered up with the flared arches to the side.

The range-topping XSE trim also comes with big 19-inch wheels, that further add some character. The 2022 Camry is no longer that boring midsize sedan that screams a mid-life crisis and has become a striking-looking car over the years. To match the striking exterior design, Toyota offers multiple exterior colors like Blueprint, Celestial Silver Metallic, Ice Edge, Midnight Black Metallic, Predawn Gray Mica, Ruby Flare Pearl, and White from the base trim itself. The Camry XSE trim gets additional colors like Supersonic Red, Windchill Pearl, and dual tone colors like Celestial Silver Metallic/Midnight Black Metallic and Supersonic Red/Midnight Black Metallic.

The 2022 Toyota Camry is slightly shorter than the rest of the cars, but that does not necessarily reciprocate into a smaller cabin space. It is also the heaviest, which might be due to the more features on offer as standard which could increase the weight of the car. The 2021 Mazda 6 sedan has the highest ground clearance which makes it easier to maneuver over bumps and rough roads.  The Honda Accord and Mazda 6 sedan share a longer wheelbase, helping with better stability at high speeds.

Some of the key exterior features of the 2022 Camry are:

  • LED headlights
  • LED taillights
  • Dark Gray or Black front grille
  • Heated, power outside mirrors
  • Power tilt/slide moonroof
  • 16-19-inch wheel sizes

Safety
9.1/10

The list of safety features and driver aids is a long one for the 2022 Toyota Camry, and these come right from the base LE model of the Camry. Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is now standard across the trim lineup. NHTSA gives the 2021 Camry a five-star safety rating in their test, and IIHS gave it the title of their Top Safety Pick+, further helping it win over its rivals in terms of safety with these excellent scores and ratings. Apart from the standard safety features like airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, and stability control, Toyota has equipped the 2022 Camry with some advanced driver aid features.

Some of the key advanced safety features of the 2022 Camry are:

  • Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Automatic high beam headlights
  • Forward-collision warning system
  • Lane departure warning and Lane-keep Assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane trace assist
  • Traffic sign recognition

Competition

2022 Toyota Camry vs 2022 Honda Accord

The Honda Accord is considered the arch-rival of the Toyota Camry. The 2022 Honda Accord has sharper steering, a more upscale interior, and a large trunk. Whereas, the 2022 Camry offers a more powerful engine and an optional all-wheel-drive system which is rare for the segment and compensates for the lack of performance from the standard engine. The Honda Accord offers a choice of turbocharged four-cylinder engines and it comes to a choice of personal interest and liking, to choose between the two.

2022 Toyota Camry vs 2022 Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima is less powerful than the Toyota Camry. However, it offers nearly the same performance and is equally fuel-efficient as well.  The Nissan Altima is equipped with a larger gas tank, offering better driving range. The Toyota Camry offers better ground clearance and better rear seat legroom as well. The Nissan Altima offers slightly better trunk space. Considering specs, features and resale, the Toyota Camry would be out pick.

2022 Toyota Camry vs 2021 Mazda 6 Sedan

The 2021 Mazda 6 sedan is one of the prettiest looking sedans in the segment and it also is the most fun to drive. The 2022 Camry, on the other hand, might not be the best to drive, but looks just as good, and also offers a fuel-efficient hybrid variant, something absent in the Mazda. The Toyota Camry further offers a more spacious cabin and more features coming right from the base model making it a better choice over the Mazda 6 sedan.

Final Verdict
8.0/10

The 2022 Camry has not received any major upgrades which seems liable as the sedan seems to be perfect in almost every way. It comes with a spacious cabin, the upper trims come with upscale materials and a powerful V6 engine with an optional AWD system. In short, there is something in store for everyone and the 2022 Toyota Camry can help every buyer get what they want, making it one of the most desirable sedans on the market.

Pros - ["It is a hybrid", "It has heated seats"]

Cons - ["It's color", "The non leather seats"]

Overall I love the car. I love the heated seats and let's not forget the sunroof. It performs well it has 16000 miles on it. The interior quality is excellent. I love how it has side door air bags I generally love that extra safety.

Pros - ["The speed insane", "Handling. Insane"]

Cons - ["Gas mileage", "Low exhaust noise"]

I love the 2023 Toyota Camary XSE. Its by far one of the fastest and most reliable vehicles toyota has ever manufactured. For the price, its unbeatable in performance compared to Bmx or Mercedes. It has 301hp and goes fro 0to60 in less than seconds. It also has automonus driving and for the price of under 40k, you cant beat that, in my opinion. Its the most slept on vehicle for 2023..
