... trash. In a magazine I saw in the 70s there was an article entitled "Power Windows Customer Need or Corporate Greed." I do not see any honest discussion about this anymore except for numerous customer complaints all over the web. Read More

The Camry has been out for generations and it has always proven to be a great option for middle-class American families. It can easily fit your family of 5 and it offers a decent amount of practicality as well, in line with the competition. Under the hood, you will find an inline-four engine that is decent for daily driving but it's nothing to write home about, however, fuel efficiency is usually the priority in such cars and in this regard, the Camry does not disappoint. The styling of the Camry is also quite eye-catching, as the old boring design has been taken over by a sleek and classy modern design that caters to modern buyers.

The 2022 Toyota Camry has 14 complaints on the NHTSA website but it has not been recalled yet, which is a good sign.

2022 Toyota Camry User Complaints and Problems

Engine and Mechanical Problems

  • Engine/Electrical System/Power Steering - One user complains that while they were driving on a highway, their car suddenly had multiple warnings appear on the dashboard, and the car suddenly ceased to move forward and lost all power. The power steering failed as well and it forced the driver to slow the car and bring it to a stop. On the dash, there were five warning lights that lit up, which included “Hybrid System Malfunction”, “Braking Power Low”, “Maintenance Required”, “Pre-Collision System Malfunction” and also “Check Engine”. The awareness of the driver and the speed of the car meant that there were no collisions but there easily could’ve been one. Such failures are completely unexpected and could also prove to be fatal.
  • Brakes - One owner mentions that they were driving down a steep hill when the brakes failed to work and the car failed to decelerate. After that, they put the car into neutral and then in reverse, but nothing actually happened. Even after a few tries, the brakes still failed to work, which was quite concerning.

Safety Problems

  • Forward collision avoidance - There are a few incidents and complaints where the owners mentioned that the brakes in the car were automatically applied even when there was no other vehicle or obstacle in front of the car. Because of this, there have been a few near-crash incidents but luckily, there hasn’t been an actual crash because of this. Nevertheless, the brakes failing due to the malfunction of the FCW can be quite dangerous indeed.
  • Tires - There have been two incidents in which the tires have been completely separated off the rim and the cars, in both cases, went out of control. There were no injuries but again, it could have been fatal.
