Overview

The 2022 Toyota GR Supra is all set to blaze the space with its all-new A91-CF Edition costing $63,280 alongside the pre-existing ones 2.0, 3.0, and 3.0 Premium. It also specs the newly standardized heat seats for the 3.0 trim and refreshing red interior for the 3.0 Premium configuration. Moreover, it has been released for sale at a starting base price of $43,190 with the same 255 hp 2.0L I-4 and 382 hp 3.0L I-6 Turbo engines.

The Toyota GR Supra comes with a prowess of 3.9 seconds for 0-60 MPH acceleration that marks the pure performance stance of its I-6 variant. Available in 7 exterior colors, it features an enriching customization at its disposal. In addition to that, it can be leased at $688/month for 36 months with a signing payment of $3,338. And it rivals the market share of the Porsche 718 Cayman, Ford Mustang, and Audi TT.

Buying Advice

The 3.0 Premium trim of the 2022 Toyota GR Supra is the best option among all. It has got all the things right from heating comfort to JBL musical rhythms along with Adaptive Suspension for top-notch handling. So, this trim is the most complete one in the lineup and worth spending $54,690.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

"The Toyota Supra is a car of two personalities: the sports car's two engines deliver very different driving experiences." - Motor Trend

The 2022 Toyota GR Supra is coming with minor updates along with a new edition. Its trim lineup begins with 2.0 priced at $43,190 that tends to be as expensive as $63,280 for the A91-CF Edition where the 382 hp 3.0L Turbo I-6 hosts itself from 3.0 configuration onwards. The 3.0L I-6 allows for 1.1-second quicker 0-60 MPH than the standard 2.0L Turbo I-4 making it the performance phenomenon in the segment.

Though the Toyota GR Supra has a J.D.Power rating of just 69 yet it only depreciates to a resale value of $33,269 after 5 years which is pretty impressive. And its insurance charges one to have an investment of $2,384 yearly. As far as its destination fee is concerned, that chunk costs $1,025. While the maintenance expenses are going to be nearly $5,000 despite having such constant high performance.

Interior
4.0/10

"The Toyota's cabin is snug and surprisingly premium, largely because it pulls from the BMW parts bin." - Car And Driver

Regarding the seating of Toyota GR Supra, the 14-way power-adjustable seats with memory functions fill in the space in the 3.0 configuration. However, the added heating functions are incorporated in the 3.0 Premium. This performance coupe also offers a cargo capacity of 10.2 cu-ft at its disposal.

These include the standard accents of the Tungsten, Nocturnal and optional Nitro Yellow at $425 as per trim specifics. Safety
6.0/10

"Toyota gave the Supra a fairly large power bump and an optional suspension that ostensibly tamed the car's somewhat wild, but always thrilling, handling characteristics." - Edmunds

The 2022 Toyota GR Supra has not received any safety rating either from NHTSA or IIHS. However, its platform is similar to that of the BMW Z4 that has already proven its mettle in terms of structural rigidity and soundness. Apart from that, it features an array of safety assets too that have been mentioned below:

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
  • ABS and Traction Control.
  • Lane Departure Alert.
  • Lane Keep Assist.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Warning.
  • Steering Assist.

2022 Toyota GR Supra vs 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman

The 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman has better power figures and corresponding performance than the 2022 Toyota GR Supra. But it lacks the range coverage where the latter outclasses quite comfortably. Regarding the spaciousness, both are almost parallel but accent-wise Porsche might have an edge. However, it costs an exuberantly hefty amount making Toyota GR Supra the preference here.

2022 Toyota GR Supra vs 2022 Audi TT

The 2022 Toyota GR Supra thrusts more power and higher top speed. The same is true for the acceleration parameter too. While the Audi TT has a better room inside the cabin and more passenger accommodation. In terms of ambiance, both can be rated at par. Therefore, one can choose any one of them.

2022 Toyota GR Supra vs 2022 Ford Mustang

The 2022 Ford Mustang has been employed with a higher performance curve than the 2022 Toyota GR Supra. Despite that, it matches GR Supra in range practicality. On top of that, it has more cabin space and is relatively far cheaper. So it has to be Mustang over Supra for now.

Final Verdict

The 2022 Toyota GR Supra satiates all the urges what this segment demands. The comfort, luxury, and performance indices are aptly marked in style by this 2-seater coupe. And most importantly it does these within a reasonable price tag. However, one can even check for Ford Mustang side by side for a better decisive buying conclusion.
