Coming to the exterior we don’t see any changes for this year as the changes are all under the skin.
For those who are looking for a sporty daily driver that can run errands and do occasional highway runs, we recommend sticking to the Supra 2.0 trim. As for under forty-five grand you get essential features and won’t miss out much except for the more power and performance from the turbo-six. For those who can spend fifty grand on a Supra, our recommendation is to take the Supra 3.0 as it is the most value for money trim with a turbo-six.
While the interior follows the same suit except for the touchscreen infotainment system which has now grown in size from 6.5-inches to an 8.8-inch unit. Overall the cabin space is tight and the infotainment system is still not the best. As for the cargo area, it is pretty decent and can gobble four carry-on suitcases with ease. That said, the 2021 Toyota GR Supra has a starting price of $43,090 and rivals the likes Audi TT and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
The 2021 Toyota GR Supra comes in four trims and two engine options. The Supra 2.0 is the base trim and is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four while the trims above it get a 3.0-liter turbo-six. The Supra 2.0 starts at $43,090, the Supra 3.0 starts at $51,090, and the range-topping Supra A91 Edition will set you back by $54,795.
Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, active exhaust, launch control, integrated rear spoiler, 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Supra Command, Black Alcantara / leather-trimmed sports seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, 6-lens auto-leveling LED headlights, automatic high beam, lane departure warning, and a few more.

While the 3.0-liter inline-six powered Supra returns 22 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg combined. Regardless of the engine you chose, all the Supra come with a 13.7-gallon fuel tank. The turbo-four Supra manages a combined range of 383 miles and the turbo-six Supra manages a combined range of 342 miles from a tankful of gas.

As for the rivals, none are as fuel-efficient as the Toyota GR Supra. While the Mercedes-Benz C300 manages to beat the Toyota GR Supra with one mpg better gas mileage on the highway. Although it loses out to the Supra in the city and combined gas mileage by the same margin. The Audi TT with 23/31/26 mpg in city/highway/combined respectively returns the lowest figures among all.
Step inside the cabin of the 2021 Toyota GR Supra and immediately you will recognize that the vibes aren’t like the ones which you generally get from a Toyota vehicle. Look at anything be it the steering, gear shifter, or the overall dash layout you will find all of these heavily inspired from the cabin of BMW Z4. On a plus side, the cabin feels premium and the layout is focused on the driver. The little bulge on the roof ensures sufficient headroom but tall passengers would still be a tight fit here.
Overall the ergonomics are spot on and the seats, although only manually adjustable, save weight, offer good support and sufficient flexibility to ensure the occupants are at ease. While there was hardly anything that’s complaint worthy but we will nitpick on a few issues. We found the ingress and egress a bit of a hassle as you sit very low to the ground. That said, the rearward visibility is also not that great.

The Toyota GR Supra is the only car here that offers seating for two while the other two offer seating for four. But we suggest you take that with a pinch of salt. As the rear seats of Audi TT are not adult-friendly while the Mercedes-Benz C-Class can sit two adults at the back, the legroom isn’t sufficient to stretch yourself comfortably on a long drive. That said, the Audi TT offers 12 cubic feet of trunk space which is the best in this comparison while the Toyota GR Supra offers 10.2 cubic feet of trunk space which is the least in the segment. The 2021 Toyota GR Supra gets an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that runs on the Supra Command system. The standard setup gets four speakers, AM/FM, SiriusXM, Bluetooth. The infotainment system is not the best in business and is more of a shoddy re-skinned iDrive infotainment system.
The system has not been calibrated or optimized well and makes it very frustrating to operate due to its laggy nature. But you don’t have much of a choice as this system is standard across the trim level. While optional upgrades are limited to a 12-speaker 500-watt JBL sound system, navigation system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a few more. Highlights of infotainment system include:
The exterior design of the 2021 Toyota GR Supra hasn’t changed much since it was re-done last year. The redesign last year was well executed and we don’t find any reason for Toyota to change the design for at least a year or two more. That said, the Supra gets an aggressive front look with large angular intakes and sharp LED headlights. The double-bubble roof at the beginning although looks odd but with time it grows on you.
On the side, you get 18-inch alloy wheels in the base trim while the higher trims get 19-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels. Moving to the rear you get a ducktail spoiler and dual exhaust which gives the Supra a sick look from the back. New for this year is the A91 Edition trim that gets few differentiating exterior highlights like matte black finished alloy wheels, carbon-fiber side mirrors, black satin double hash special decal on the C-pillar.

Regardless of that Toyota has given a bevy of safety features to make the 2021 Supra the safest coupe in its segment. The 2021 Audi TT except for the extra two seats at the back has nothing in its kitty to score against the superior Toyota GR Supra. The Toyota GR Supra is not only cheaper than the Audi TT but also is much more powerful, faster in 0-60 mph and quarter-mile run, and returns a better fuel economy. If that isn’t enough to convince you on the Supra then what it is.
Just like the Audi TT the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has the extra two seats at the rear to ensure better practicality than the Toyota GR Supra. But it is nowhere close to what a Supra is under the skin. The mechanicals of the Supra are solid and you would enjoy driving it hard. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is more of a comfort-oriented coupe that will carry four occupants in style and luxury. So choose your poison based on your priorities.
The 2021 Toyota GR Supra has everything you need under one roof. A fuel-efficient turbo-four or a powerful turbo-six to choose from. The starting price undercuts all the rivals and even then it offers better performance and rides and handling without a compromise on the fuel economy figures. Although the cabin space of the Supra is a bit tight we can let this one thing pass, as the pros outweigh the cons by a margin. That said, the Toyota GR Supra is a go-to vehicle for anyone who is looking to have a sporty coupe that can double up as a daily driver too.
