Overview

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator gets a refreshed exterior this year while the interior is heavily influenced by luxury and technology. It now gets a 13.2-inch display featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and functions through the latest SYNC 4 interface. The 2022 Navigator interior options include improved massaging front seats, massaging rear seats, and like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the new Navigator also features a front-facing camera that recognizes bumps on the roads to adapt the suspension accordingly. All this for a price hike of just $565, the 2022 Lincoln Navigator price starts at $77,635 excluding the $1,695 destination fee.

Featuring a 3-trim lineup of the Navigator, the 2022 Lincoln Navigator MSRP can be an expense of $78,965-$107,965 this season. Having said that, it simply translates to the fact that the range-leader 2022 Lincoln Navigator Black Label will cost you $29,000 more than the base 2022 Navigator for enhanced specs and assets.

We Recommend

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator prices tend to appreciate considerably as we go up the trim ladder. Also, almost all the necessary safety features and interior creature comforts are offered from the base trim itself. But opting for the Reserve trim offers the most value to its buyers for the added cost.

The Lincoln Navigator Black Label also gets major updates such as two new interior themes, new interior chimes recorded by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and luxury-boosting features. A 450-hp twin-turbo V6 unit continues to power the Navigator 2022 which offers effortless acceleration and can tow up to 8,300 pounds. Another highlight of this mid-cycle refresh is the debut of Active Glide, Lincoln's semi-autonomous driving mode. It competes against the Cadillac Escalade, the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, the Infiniti QX80, and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer

2022 Lincoln Navigator for sale

The new Lincoln Navigator is available for sale with a monthly payment of $1,312 for 60 months at 3.9% APR along with a $7,896 down payment. The 2022 Navigator lease deals begin at $1,093/month for a 48-month tenure and 12,000 miles of annual mileage limit. It requires the same down payment along with an additional acquisition fee of $645.

For budget-oriented buyers, the used Lincoln Navigator can be availed of with a base price of $1,950. Going for older model years like the 2019 Lincoln Navigator could be a matter of $43,995 and Lincoln Navigator 2019 can cost as much as $94,170 along with a listing of up to 464 in total.

Buying Advice

With an array of features with the base model, it is hard to move forward to the higher trims. However, we would go with the Reserve trim as it is worth it. It gets advanced driver aids such as adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system. This trim also allows you to increase towing capacity through the exclusive Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

Buyers who choose the Black Label trim also enjoy a high level of customer service- Autotrader

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator specs three trim levels: Base, Reserve, and Black Label. The 2022 Lincoln Navigator price range lies between $77,635 and a whopping $106,635 which puts it against the premium European rivals. Except for the Black Label trim, both RWD and 4WD configurations are available for sale. The Navigator L is also available with a longer wheelbase for more passenger volume. All models of the 2022 Navigator get plenty of safety features as standard and the SUV also comes loaded with creature comforts right from the base trim.

Apart from its exterior refresh, the biggest update of the Navigator is on the tech side. The lincoln navigator 2022 price now packs a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration. Lincoln complements safety by debuting Active Glide in the Navigator which is available from the mid-tier Reserve trim onwards. The Lincoln Navigator Reserve model also features automatic park assist and a head-up display amongst other interior features. While the Black Label is the one that features all the bells and whistles, it crosses the six-figure mark and very quickly gets out of range for many buyers.

Fuel Economy
7.3/10

It doesn't matter which configuration you choose, the Navigator is a thirsty beast that drinks lots of gas- Carbuzz

In order to earn better MPG numbers, the 2022 Lincoln Navigator horsepower comes out of a V6 instead of a V8. The result turns out to be above-average gas mileage in its class. It returns 17 MPG in the city, 23 MPG on a highway, and 19 MPG combined. The 4WD-equipped Navigator lends a highway MPG of 20, which brings down its 17 MPG combined. The Navigator shells out a respectable combined driving range of 448 miles, all thanks to its humongous 23.6-gallon fuel tank. Its segment rivals deliver a much better driving range as they house a larger tank. The 4WD Navigator delivers up to 401 miles.

The Cadillac Escalade's fuel economy is mediocre similar to that of the Infiniti QX80. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer features a 4WD drivetrain as standard which makes it the least efficient one in this lot. It also features the largest gas tank capacity that brings its range on par with the segment. The large fuel tank capacity of the Infiniti brings its range much closer to the segment-best range offered by the 2022 Navigator. The Caddilac on the other hand will require more frequent gas station visits.

Interior
7.3/10

The Navigator has interior room in spades, and its smart design maximizes ease of entry- Edmunds

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator interior is well-built and gets lots of premium materials all around. Just like its exterior, the interior has a few adjustments up its sleeves as well. Two new Black Label themes- Central Park and Invitation offer unique styles that help elevate Lincoln's craftsmanship. All seven seats are wrapped in leather and the seats themselves are a practical haven with commodious interior dimensions. The 30-way power front seats get a revised massaging system. The leather-wrapped steering wheel gets heated and power adjustability as standard. Moreover, the pedals are also power-adjustable so that the driver can attain a comfortable driving position.

Rear passengers will find no trouble being seated in the roomy and opulent second-row seats. The second row gets massaging system as an option for the first time, in addition to now packing standard heating and ventilation. The spacious third-row seats are also a comfortable haven for any tall individual. Upfront is a new infotainment screen now measuring an impressive 13.2 inches with an updated SYNC 4 interface. The second-row occupants get a 5.8-inch display that lets them adjust climate and audio settings while a new 10.1-inch rear entertainment system offers all the entertainment you could need with extra onboard storage and wireless streaming.

The 2022 Navigator isn’t behind in terms of cargo space either. It offers 19.3 cu-ft. behind the third-row seats. This figure jumps to 57.5 or 63.6 cu-ft depending upon the position of the sliding second row. With the second row folded, you get 103 cu-ft of cargo space, which is one of the best in the segment. In the above competition, only the Grand Wagoneer beats the Navigator with better cargo space and passenger legroom while the other rivals muster less space. The Infiniti QX80 has the least impressive cabin while the Escalade feels the most luxurious.

Some notable interior features are:

  • Tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Power tilt & telescopic leather, heated steering wheel
  • Power adjustable pedals & Illuminated scuff plate
  • 30-way power front power leather seats
  • Heated, ventilated & massaged front seats
  • Heated & ventilated second-row seats

  • Wireless charging

Exterior
7.3/10

The 2022 Navigator makes a big impression from the first glance with an enormous grille- Kelly Blue Book

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator received a few styling updates. Since it's a mid-cycle refresh, the Navigator doesn't look that different from the car that precedes it. But, there are a few changes for keen eyes out there such as new headlamps and taillamps, new front and rear bumpers in addition to a few unique grille designs, one of which is specific to the Black Label trim. The long 122.5-inch of wheelbase is what opens up abundant cabin space for passengers and their cargo.

The 20/22-inch machined aluminum wheels represent an airplane turbine and the bold lines along the side draw your attention to the rear where LED wraparound taillamps bring everything together. It has an exceptional ground clearance of 9.7 inches which makes it a capable off-roader. Lincoln offers 7 paint color options with the Navigator 2022 and there are also a couple of exterior appearance packages to further spice up things.

The longer wheelbase of the Jeep SUV helps beat the Lincoln Navigator in terms of cabin space. It is also the largest and heaviest SUV in this comparison. The Infiniti QX80 is the smallest and yet weighs considerably more. In terms of design though, the Escalade and Navigator are the ones that will attract the most eyeballs on the streets, while the tough exterior treatment of the Grand Wagoneer will ensure utmost protection in the rougher terrains.

Some cool exterior highlights are:

  • 20/22-inch machined aluminum wheels
  • Auto high-beam LED Headlights
  • LED Taillights & LED DRLs
  • Power-folding, heated exterior mirrors
  • Chrome grille with active grille shutters
  • Illuminated Lincoln badging & Illuminated power-deployable running boards
  • Dual exhaust chrome tips & Chrome bodyside moldings

Safety
9.0/10

Lincoln also makes its Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assistance technology standard on the Navigator- CarAndDriver

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator did not undergo any kind of tests for its safety due to its high-value nature. However, the 2021 model received a 5-star rating from NHTSA. Therefore, we expect the same safety scores to carry over to the 2022 model. The Navigator still hasn’t been tested by IIHS since its generational change. Since it is built on the same platform as the Ford Expedition, it may earn great ratings.

The safety suite is bolstered with the addition of the Lincoln Co-Pilot360. The much-awaited semi-autonomous driving mode called ActiveGlide finally makes its debut this year. Also, Intersection Assist and Active Park Assist 2.0 are now standard. With so many safety technologies loaded, the Navigator is surely a safe vehicle. Some main safety features are:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Blind-Spot Assist with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Rearview Camera & 360-degree Camera
  • Forward Collision Warning & Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Head-up Display & Park Assist
  • Lane Keep Assist & Evasive steering assist
  • Road Sign Recognition & Lincoln ActiveGlide driving system

Competition
8.5/10

2022 Lincoln Navigator vs 2022 Cadillac Escalade

Both these SUVs have always locked horns in the battle for supremacy in the luxury SUV segment. The Navigator has the upper hand in terms of power and acceleration. However, the Cadillac Escalade’s independent rear suspension grants it greater freedom while handling around corners. The Escalade had the bragging rights with its tech suite, but this year things look bright for the Navigator on the tech side. The Escalade offers better utility but the Navigator seems more well-rounded.

2022 Lincoln Navigator vs 2022 Infiniti QX80

The Navigator ranks higher in the power and performance charts than the Infiniti QX80. Even in the all-important interior sector, the Navigator’s finely crafted interior outclasses the QX80. However, the QX80's tow ratings are slightly better. Also, there is a comparable difference between the price tags, with the QX80 emerging as the less expensive of the lot. The Navigator has the upper hand in fuel economy and the cargo department as well. The Navigator is justified as the winner here, with its well-rounded traits.

2022 Lincoln Navigator vs 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

While the Jeep is much more expensive than the Lincoln, it brings in a lot more sophistication and party tricks if you intend on taking it on the roads less taken. The massive V8 under its hood offers abundant grunt for both the towing and acceleration needs but also makes it a gas guzzler. The Grand Wagoneer also offers more interior and cargo space and has distinctive exterior styling as well. While the Navigator on the other hand is more reliable, easier to maintain, and also gets better safety ratings. With the two titans locking horns, we think its best to consider this battle as a tie and leave it to your preferences.

Final Verdict

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator looks set to exert Ford’s dominance in the luxury SUV market again. With its GM rivals turning on the heat with their well-rounded Escalade, the Navigator’s mid-cycle refresh proves crucial. The new interior and technological changes onboard the Navigator will surely set the roadmap for the rest of Ford’s future vehicles. For the incredibly high price range, the Navigator has everything that places it on the top charts.
