2022 Jaguar I-PACE Electric

The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace now comes with a single trim to offer which is named HSE and it is priced at an MSRP of $71,050. The price of the new HSE is just $50 more than last year’s base SE variant and about $11,000 cheaper than the previous edition’s HSE trim. The car comes with a twin electric motor powertrain and standard AWD. The SUV provides a plethora of features like 16 way power adjustable seats, adaptive air suspension, Apple Carplay, and Android Auto integration, etc. The brand has featured a new onboard charger with a reduced charging time. With this edition, the SUV also gets an upgraded Infotainment system with a complimentary 4G data plan, a 360-degree camera system, and wireless charging.

The Jaguar has reduced its number of variants and total configurations since the last edition. The 2022 version features a single configuration but comes with a number of packages for customers. The appearance can be enhanced by the Black or Bright exterior packs that cost $550 and $350 respectively. Some of the additional packages are Premium Upgrade Interior Package priced at $2,650, Park Assist Package which costs an additional $900, and the Cold Climate Package which is priced at $550.

With a single trim available with the 2022 I-Pace, HSE is the sole option. The trim, however, is loaded with features and provides a comfortable ride to the occupants. In addition to that, one might prefer adding the Park Assist Package that comes with 3D surround Camera and Park Assist.

Release Date

The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace has already been released.

The SUV comes with a twin electric motor setup that makes 394 horsepower and 512 lb.-ft of torque. The motors are placed concentrically to save space. The 90-kWh battery which is made up of 432 high energy density lithium-ion pouch cells powers the electric motors in the Jaguar I-Pace. Moreover, the I-Pace's low center of gravity is the result of the battery pack being placed on each axle and mounted low in the body, which improves its handling characteristics. The SUV provides quick acceleration and reaches the 60 MPH mark in 4 seconds from a standstill. The car also has an impressive quarter mile timing of 12.3 seconds.

The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace offers a better power delivery as compared to the Audi E-Tron. The 2022 BMW IX comes with a better torque output, followed by the I-Pace and the E-Tron. The data for the Tesla Model Y is yet to be determined. The I-Pace stands at par in terms of acceleration and covers the 0-60 MPH mark quicker than the E-Tron. The SUV also has better quarter mile timing than the E-Tron and the IX. The I-Pace has a top speed of 128 MPH which justifies its segment.

2022 Jaguar I-Pace Ride and Handling

The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace comes with an adaptive air suspension which includes Double Wishbone Front Suspension w/Air Springs and Multi-Link Rear Suspension w/Air Springs. The SUV automatically adjusts the ride height and ensures a composed driving experience. The car maintains comfort over bumpy roads. Furthermore, the maneuvering around the corners is also impressive, despite its heavy weight. The body roll is also negligible due to the presence of Front And Rear Anti-Roll Bars. The Electric Power-Assist Speed-Sensing Steering is responsive to the input. Additional stability features include Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and ABS And Driveline Traction Control. 

2022 Jaguar I-Pace Braking Performance

The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace comes with vented disc brakes on all four of its wheels. The SUV comes with a 13.8 in front brake rotors and 12.8 in at the rear. The previous editions of the I-Pace had an issue with the abrupt stopping of the brakes, which seems to be resolved in this version. However, The SUV's regenerative braking doesn’t bring you to a complete stop which makes a big difference in everyday driving. Additional braking features include Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist, Hill Descent Control, Hill Hold Control, and Electric Parking Brake.

The I-Pace comes with bigger front brake rotors than the BMW IX. However, it has the smallest rear brake rotors as compared to the E-Tron IX and the Model Y. The Tesla Model Y and the Jaguar I-Pace are significantly lighter than their rivals, which helps in reducing the overall momentum while driving. The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace can stop from 60 mph to the rest on wet pavement in 136 feet and dry pavement in 142 feet. The data for the other SUVs are yet to be determined.

In accordance with EPA ratings, the Jaguar I-Pace will achieve 80 MPGe in a city, 72 MPGe on a highway, and 76 MPGe combined driving and can travel for 234 miles between charges. It can be fully recharged in 8.6 hours using the 11-kW onboard AC wall box charger (with a 240-volt power supply), as well as at 80 percent in under 90 minutes using DC rapid charging at 50 kW. The charging time is, however, longer than the average. If the SUV will charge on a 100KW supply for 15 minutes, it can travel up to 63 miles.

The Jaguar I-Pace offers a better economy than the Audi E-Tron. On a highway, the Tesla Model Y is the most efficient among the four, followed by the BMW IX, Audi E-Tron, and the I-Pace. The range of travel data in a city and on a highway is not yet available for cars. However, the Audi E-Tron has an estimated range of travel of about 204 miles, and the Tesla Model X, around 295 miles, while the I-Pace can travel about 234 miles.

The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace looks attractive and futuristic with its streamlined dashboard and lack of knobs and buttons. The SUV comes with a massive windshield and panoramic sunroof which elevates the luxury of the cabin. Windsor Leather sport seats are standard on the HSE trim in Ebony, Light Oyster, or Siena Tan. Furthermore, last year's Mars Red seats have been discontinued. The bucket seats are comfortable with leather upholstery and a 16 way electrically adjustable feature. Other standard features include two-zone climate control, ambient interior lighting, an interactive driver's display, keyless entry, etc.

The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace leads front legroom as compared to the Audi E-Tron and the BMW IX. It dominates the Tesla Model Y in terms of the rear shoulder room. The I-pace offers the least cargo capacity as compared to its rivals. All four SUVs offer futuristic and attractive interior styling. However, the I-Pace and the Model Y stand out in terms of their layout and arrangement.

Additional features include voice control, Bluetooth connectivity and audio streaming, HD radio, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The SUV comes with a 750 watt producing 15 speaker audio system.

On the other hand, the E-Tron offers a better highway economy as compared to the I-Pace. Furthermore, it also provides the occupants with better rear headroom and legroom.

2022 Jaguar I-Pace vs 2022 BMW IX

The Jaguar I-Pace comes out to be less expensive than the BMW IX. It leads in the quarter mile timing as compared to the IX. Whereas, the BMW comes with better performance figures such as more power and torque output. The IX is also more fuel efficient than the I-Pace in all three aspects(city, highway, combined). The exterior of the IX looks more futuristic and stands out in the segment. Both cars reach 60 MPH speed mark in about 4 seconds.

2022 Jaguar I-Pace vs 2022 Tesla Model Y

Both the electric SUVs come with a similar price tag. The Tesla Model Y looks sleek and futuristic, while the I-Pace carries a crossover look that looks robust and attractive. The Model Y provides a quicker acceleration in terms of the 0-60 MPH mark and the quarter mile timing. Furthermore, the Model Y is significantly more efficient than the I-Pace in all three aspects(city, highway, combined). The interior of both cars looks stylish and premium. The I-Pace, however, provides a better front shoulder room.

The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace is a dependable electric SUV with a slick interior design. The ride is comfortable and the cabin looks futuristic. The powerful electric motors deliver impressive power and torque output. The SUV offers quick acceleration, and that too with nimble handling capabilities. The economy of the I-Pace is decent and justifies its segment. The exterior of the car looks attractive, but not the best among the rivals. The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace comes with a sufficient amount of safety features to protect the driver and passengers in case of an emergency. Also, the brand carries an image of reliability and trustworthiness. The best choice would be to go with the available HSE trim added with the Park Assist Package which further adds useful features.
