Overview

With growing concerns over environmental pollution and global warming, the market is now exploring alternatives to conventional ICE engines. Electric cars are now slowly being considered as an apt replacement and also the undeniable future. Audi too joined the league and is now all set to introduce the all-new 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron SUV in the US market. The Q4 was not the first electric in the brand’s line-up. The automaker assures that this is definitely not a half-cooked product to hastily complete the EV lineup.

Buying Advice

The Audi Q4 e-tron is expected to arrive in two different models. The 50-grade model with the dual-motor setup and increased power output in the e-tron AWD configuration would be the best option to choose. The vehicle is expected to feature different interior trim options as well as sports seats with different available leather options.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

While this is not the flagship of the electric-powered segment, it will continue to offer an extremely luxurious and premium cabin in addition to impressive driving dynamics. The vehicle is expected to be priced aggressively and will be featuring a long list of features. With this, the new Q4 e-tron will definitely challenge the very best of rivals. With that being said, what can we expect from the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron? Read on to find out.

Features

The Q4 e-tron is expected to come in two different options in the US. The differences as we know now are only in powertrain as well as battery capacity and we expect the feature set to remain the same. The Q4 e-tron will be available in a 40-grade model with a single motor setup and a 50 grade model with a dual motor setup. Both models will come with the same 77 kWh battery pack. Engine and Performance
7.5/10

Powering the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron will be an all-electric setup. The Q4 e-Tron will feature 295 hp output from the motor that channels power to all four wheels. The peak torque output from this motor is expected to be around 339 lb-ft with a single-speed automatic transmission on offer. Just like other electric vehicles, the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron too will be extremely easy to drive and will have huge reserves of power and torque right from the get-go, making it an extremely powerful and fun-to-drive vehicle.

The Q4 e-tron will be available with two powertrain options in the United States which are termed as 40 and 50. Both variants come with the same single-speed transmission. The 40-grade model would feature a 77-kWh battery pack and a single electric motor in the rear axle while the 50-grade model will feature the same 77-kWh battery pack but this time along with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration delivering the earlier mentioned combined power output of 295 hp and maximum torque measuring 339 lb-ft.

With an overall 0-60 mph time of 6.1 seconds in the highest spec model, the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron is definitely not the fastest car in the segment. But overall, the performance from this powertrain is sufficient and more than enough for everyday usage. In comparison, when it comes to sheer power through the motor, Tesla is still the top dog of the EV world.

How does the 2022 Audi Q4 e-Tron Handle?

The older models of the Audi Q4 e-tron SUV did struggle with the driving dynamics, however, the suspension setup was pretty well-balanced. The heavy body shell does take a toll on the overall dynamics of the car and the steering too is not very responsive. Overall, the Q4 e-tron definitely leaves a lot to be desired, especially for those who like to push the vehicle through the corners. The models equipped with the e-quattro AWD system are expected to provide more grip and stability around corners as well in straight lines.

The brand is expected to improve the overall handling characteristics of the vehicle with the launch of the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron model. The fact that the Q4 e-tron is also built upon the Volkswagen ID.4 platform does imply that the usual strategy of keeping the battery pack in the lower central section of the vehicle has been used in this case also to improve handling as well as stability.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

Powering the 295 hp motor is a 77 kWh battery pack. While we are still waiting for the official figures, the car is expected to have a 230-mile range. More details will be uncovered post the launch of the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron. The battery pack can be charged at speeds of up to 150kW through the high-speed DC charging stations while slow charging is possible using home chargers. Audi provides the batteries with a warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles and also claims that the batteries will have at least 70 percent capacity even after eight years of operation or 100,000 miles.

The 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron faces stiff competition in the segment and the rivals definitely offer a decent maximum range. The comparison however will be more decisive once we have the official figures with us. The chance for an extended range version to be offered in the future is also a possible probability.

Interior
8.0/10

In simple words, the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron is expected to have a cabin that is loaded with all the modern gizmos and features, just like its other siblings in the brand’s line-up. In addition to this, the overall quality levels inside the cabin are expected to be top-notch and the space inside too will be impressive and better than most of the rivals. A modern and sophisticated design language will be seen in the dashboard layout, making it extremely premium in terms of quality.

The front seats are expected to feature a power adjust feature in addition to various ventilation functions. Moreover, the car will have a large touchscreen infotainment system alongside the Audi virtual cockpit. In addition to that, the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron is expected to offer other features like automatic multi-zone climate control, steering mounted control, seat memory function, and a lot more.

  • 10.1-inch + 8.8-inch Infotainment screen
  • Navigation with real-time traffic display
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • SiriusXM satellite radio
  • Audi's online services

Exterior
9.0/10

We are expecting the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron to feature an aggressive and imposing design language. The vehicle will feature an SUV-coupe-like silhouette and will have an extremely elegant and sophisticated side profile. Moreover, 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels are expected to complement the design. The fit and finish levels are expected to be top-notch and the paint quality too will be on-par with the best rivals.

On the features front, the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron will sport an all-LED setup as it will help the engineers decrease energy consumption from the battery. Other notable features on offer will be heated ORVMs, front and rear parking sensors, and rearview camera, rear wiper, etc. A sunroof too is expected to be a standard part of the package.

In terms of dimensions, the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron is smaller when compared to the rivals by a small margin. Although, it will most likely offer a similar road presence. Smaller dimensions however will take a toll on the overall interior space offered inside the cabin. But the Audi Q4 e-tron does look elegant and beautiful from the outside and certainly more beautiful than the Tesla Model Y. Some of the exterior highlights of the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron include:

  • 18/19 diamond-cut alloy wheels
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Heated ORVMs
  • Panoramic Sunroof

Safety
9.0/10

The 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron will feature regenerative braking along with the Audi pre-sense safety suite of features. The Q4 e-tron is also expected to be equipped with a set of high-tech safety features as standard along with some available optional safety tech. The following are the prominent safety features expected to be in the Q4 e-tron:
