The Titanium trim at $26,895 is the best trim in the lineup. Be it ActiveX perforated heated seats or the Bang & Olufsen Sound System, the Titanium gets them as a standard along with exclusive wheels designs. Also, the standard intelligent 4WD with AdvanceTrac and Roll Stability assists it in easy maneuvering. On the whole, this trim is self-sufficient and does not need any further expense on additional packages.

The 2022 Ford EcoSport has a 4-trim production lineup that begins with S at an MSRP of $22,040. This configuration gets SYNC with a 4.2-inch display and a 4-speaker audio unit as standard. Along with that, the seats are manually adjustable and are cloth-trimmed. But, the EcoSport SE trim at $25,455 upgrades these features to SYNC 3 and heated front seats respectively in pairing with an added electronic automatic temperature control. The EcoSport Titanium trim further enhances the interior engagement with the 10-Speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system (optional) and ActiveX with perforation, heated front bucket seats. It also gets exclusive 17-Inch premium Dark Stainless-Painted machined aluminum wheels over the standard 16-inch wheels. 

The EcoSport SES trim that costs $28,205, is armed with sport-tuned suspension and BLIS safety features on the outside. It also offers 6-way powered driver's seat, second row 60/40 split-fold rear seats, seven-speaker audio system and voice-activated touchscreen navigation. Just like the Titanium trim, the SES also gets a power moonroof with sunshade. The SES trim adds steering mounted controls, chrome insert with unique stitching, ano-gray colored isntrument panel applique and center fold console with armrest. 

Ford also offers various packages like the Trailer Tow Prep Wiring, Cargo Management System and Sport Decal Package for every trim. The Interior Protection Package is offered across every trim, excluding the base S trim. The SE Convenience Package includes blind-sport information system with cross-traffic alert, touchscreen navigation with voice control, ambient lighting and 110V/150W AC power outlet.

The 2022 Ford Ecosport offers an EPA-estimated gas mileage of 23/29/25 mpg in city/highway/combined driving conditions. With a gas tank size of 13.8 gallons, the Ecosport 2022 can travel up to 317/400/345 miles in city/highway/combined driving conditions. The rivals come with FWD as standard and offer better fuel economy and driving range than the Ecosport.

The EcoSport is 6 MPG less efficient than the Mazda CX-3 resulting in 52 miles lesser combined range reach. Whereas the Chevrolet Trax has 3 MPG more efficiency and a 0.2-gallon bigger fuel tank than the EcoSport that helps it to have 47 miles extra. The Honda HR-V comes close to it but owing to smaller gas tank, delivers less range. The Mazda CX-3 is the most fuel efficient and delivers better range in combined conditions despite having a smaller gas tank.

Step inside the EcoSport 2022 interior and a practical spacious cabin serves you a melange of cloth and leatherette finishes. Right from the Medium Light Stone cloth-trimmed seats in the S trim to Ebony Back ActiveX Perforated seats in the SES, it undergoes massive changes as we move up the trim scale. However, the hard plastic finesse of the inserts remains constant across the lineup and some buyers would be disappointed. The front seats are decently spacious but the rear ones feel cramped. 

Considering the comfort of the 2022 EcoSport cabin, the heated seats begin from SE trim onwards. But the 6-way driver's seat power adjustability and heated steering wheel are integrated for the Titanium and SES trims only. Also, it does have a flexible cargo space that can be varied from 20.9 cu-ft to 50 cu-ft. Alongside that, comes a Cargo Space Management as well that costs an additional $110 that can be availed of. The cooled glove box helps to keep your refreshments chilled.

The Ford EcoSport has been arranged to have almost 3 cu-ft extra cargo space over the Mazda CX-3. But the Honda HR-V has more cargo capacity than EcoSport by nearly 3.3 cu-ft that increases to 6 cu-ft against the Chevrolet Trax. The Mazda CX-3 offers the least cargo capacity and rear seat legroom. The Honda HR-V offers the best rear seat legroom, followed by Ford EcoSport, Chevrolet Trax and Mazda CX-3. 

Speaking of the infotainment system, the 2022 Ford EcoSport gets SYNC with a 4.2-inch display and FordPass Connect as standards in the S trim. The SYNC 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen display further introduces itself in the SE and respective higher trims. The 6-speaker audio unit in the S trim upgrades to an exclusive 9-speaker Bang & Olufsen Sound System in the Titanium trim. Not just that, the Navigation unit and SiriusXM are also added to the standard list of features in the range-topping models.

The 2022 Ford EcoSport is dimensionally unchanged and its front fascia remains unchanged in its farewell model. The eight standard exterior color options such as Smoke and Blue Metallic and two optional ones including the White Platinum and Ruby Red at $395 are also available to choose from. In addition to that, the Quad-Beam Signature LEDs have been incorporated for long-range high-intensity lighting.

The 2022 EcoSport rides on a range of different wheels ranging from 16-inch alloy to 17-inch alloy ones of different accents. Even the top has been given consideration with a power moonroof for the SE, Titanium, and SES trims. Apart from these, there are some appearance packages too such as the SE Appearance Package at $495 and the standard SES Black Appearance Package on offer.

In terms of dimensions, the EcoSport is 7-inch shorter than the HR-V that helps it in easy maneuvering in the cities and while parking. Whereas the Chevrolet Trax is 200 lbs heavier and 6-inch longer than the Ford making it difficult to handle on tight corners. The Honda HR-V sits on a longer wheelbase, offering better stability at high speeds and is followed by Mazda CX-3 with a 1.6-inch shorter wheelbase.

The safety rating of the 2022 Ford EcoSport has not been marked by the NHTSA and IIHS for the 2022 and 2021 model years yet. Considering the 2020 model year, the EcoSport has scored a 4-star NHTSA rating that can be expected to be true for the upcoming model as well. But the latter takes the lead in fuel economy and corresponding range along with better spaciousness inside the cabin. Even the HR-V is much more appealing in its exterior styling. So, the Honda gets the preference between the two. 

2022 Ford EcoSport vs 2022 Chevrolet Trax 

The 2022 Chevrolet Trax has better acceleration and fuel economy than the 2022 Ford EcoSport. But the Ford gets a more balanced cabin and more cargo space for storage. It is also more compact that helps it in its handling. On the whole, both of them are at par with each other and can be preferred. 

2022 Ford EcoSport vs 2021 Mazda CX-3

The 2022 Ford EcoSport has got more roominess inside the cabin despite being relatively smaller and more compact. This allows it to have easy maneuvering and comfort seating. However, it lags behind the Mazda CX-3 by a wide margin in performance parameters and fuel practicality. Also, the Mazda CX-3 has that styling that gives it a slight edge over the practicality index. Therefore, the Mazda gets the favor here.

The 2022 Ford EcoSport is one spacious subcompact SUV at an affordable price tag. The added tech-ends in the higher trims are also content as per the expenses. However, it lacks the performance virtues that its rivals have on offer within the same price range. Therefore, it is advisable to have to go through other aforementioned rivals as well before finalizing.
