2022 Ford F-150 Tremor

The 2022 F-150 Tremor is only available with a SuperCrew cab body style with a 5.5 feet bed at the back and is expected to be continued for the 2022 model year. The Tremor is expected to be offered with three different levels with varying levels of capabilities but most of the things are expected to be standard right across the lineup which includes the updated suspension and powertrain and the massive 12-inch infotainment system.

As there aren’t any trims as such to choose from, our job here is done. That being said, opting for the options could still be tricky as many optional features are available on offer which although increases productivity but also ends up being really expensive. 

2022 Ford F-150 Tremor Release Date

Although there aren’t any changes expected for the 2022 model year and the current 2021 model is available right away, Ford has announced that the bookings for the 2022 model would start from September 2021 with deliveries beginning soon in the next couple of months. 

Large sums of power and torque served by any engine usually result in high fuel consumption, but that is not the case with Ford's new generation of engines. The F-150 Tremor’s EcoBoost V6 engine is one such exception as it manages an EPA-rated figure of 25 mpg of combined city and highway driving. Ford also employs a large 30-gallon fuel tank which translates to a driving range of over 700 miles on a single tank of gas.

The competition is in no way close to Tremor in this regard as they mostly employ large naturally aspirated engines. The RAM truck with its hybrid motor manages a pretty decent 21 mpg combined but has a much smaller gas tank on offer. The Toyota Tundra TRD Pro has the highest fuel consumption with just 14 mpg of combined fuel economy and hence employs a much larger 38-gallon gas tank to compensate for the lower driving range. 

The cabin of the F-150 Tremor is pretty much identical to the regular redesigned F-150 and hence expect the same quality and fitment all around the cabin. There is an abundant use of premium materials all around the cabin with decent number of storage and cubby holes in place to help make the cabin more comfortable as a mobile workspace. 

The 2022 Tremor is available with only SuperCrew body style and hence has a pretty spacious cabin to seat 5 adults comfortably. The front seat folds flat to provide a place to sleep while the rear seats fold up to make a place for covered storage space inside the cabin. There is plenty of creature comforts and functionality on offer which includes the 2.0-kW onboard generator that can power the tools at a job site or support needs at tailgate parties.

The Nissan Titan Pro-4X is clearly the most compact truck of the lot, although it isn’t cramped by any means, it does not match up to the spaciousness of the Tremor. The Rebel on the other hand has a much more spacious rear seat but compromises on the front row legroom. Both the Tundra and Tremor have a similarly sized cabin with the F-150 offering marginally better legroom and headroom.

How intuitive is the 2022 Ford F-150 Tremor’s infotainment unit?

The Tremor jumps over the standard 8-inch unit and employs a much larger 12-inch horizontally oriented infotainment system, unlike the vertical one we are seeing in the F-150 Lightning, to match up to the premium cabin of the RAM 1500.

Ford also offers the optional B&O sound system as standard with the Tremor package which makes the drives back home that much more enjoyable. There is plenty of technology on offer with navigation, real-time traffic and weather updates, mobile hotspot, and smartphone integration all offered as standard.

On the outside, although the overall design is pretty similar to that of the conventional F-150, the Tremor gets some obvious updates to distinguish it from its regular counterparts. To begin with, the updated suspension makes the Tremor ride higher as the Tremor now sits an inch higher at the front and an inch half higher at the back. Then there are the new set of matte finish 18-inch wheels which are wrapped with massive 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires.

In terms of design, the front looks more imposing with the black-finished grille instead of the chrome finish and the hood now bulges a bit more too, providing a butch feel to the front end. Then there are the orange highlights on the grille which are well integrated with the headlamps and also compliments the interiors. Then there is the Tremor badging and graphics all around that make it stand out in the crowd of F-150s. Ford has also added dual front recovery hooks finished in an orange accent that helps in case the going gets tough on sticky terrain.

The Ford Tremor and the RAM 1500 Rebel are both similar in terms of dimensions with the RAM being marginally wider and also offers a higher ground clearance. The Toyota Tundra TRD Pro offers the highest ground clearance and the Tremor travels the closest to the ground in this comparison. Both the Nissan and Toyota off-roaders are similar as well in dimensions but the Tundra offers a much longer wheelbase and hence has a more spacious cabin to offer.

Ford has paid a lot of attention to the safety aspect of both the occupants and the truck as well considering the conditions in which this truck is expected to be driven. For starters, underneath the truck, you’ll find a Raptor-style bash plate for protection of front end components and with the approach angle of 27.6 degrees, a break-over angle of 21.2 degrees, and a departure angle of 24.3 degrees, one is sure to get over a lot of rocks with all those Trailbox features in store. 

As far as the safety ratings are concerned, there aren’t any. Both the NHTSA and the IIHS are yet to test the conventional F-150 for the 2021 model year, and we expect the 2022 rating to come in soon around the time of launch. That being said, Ford offers plenty of the latest safety and driver assistance features that work in tandem to offer a safe haven for you and your friends and family whether you are out on the streets or dune bashing in Colorado.

Ford F-150 Tremor vs Nissan Titan Pro-4X

Both the Tremor and the Pro-4X are priced very close to one another and also have identical power output, but there is no competition to the superior torque generated by the Tremor and the towing capacity which is class-leading.

The Tremor is far more frugal than the Titan and also offers almost twice the driving range. The Titan offers a much more compact cabin and also does not have the latest bells and whistles in terms of safety and technology that Ford has to offer. Therefore, the F-150 Tremor is undoubtedly the obvious choice here. 

Ford F-150 Tremor vs RAM 1500 Rebel

The RAM 1500 Rebel, although priced very close to the F-150 Tremor, has considerably flower engine output to offer from its hybrid V6 powertrain which affects the towing capacity by a huge margin. Though it is quite frugal as well, the Ford truck is superior in this regard too.

The F-150 offers a more balanced front and rear seat space as the Rebel feels a bit tight at the front row for taller passengers. The superior ground clearance, lightweight construction, and premium cabin do even things out in this comparison. Therefore, it is a matter of personal preference, whether you prefer the luxurious cabin with average performance or the other way around. 

Ford F-150 Tremor vs Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

The Tundra TRD Pro is the most expensive of the lot and yet cannot match up with the acceleration and towing performance of the Tremor. The F-150 Tremor is also leaps and bound more frugal than the Tundra which would make a huge difference in the long run, while the larger gas tank too cannot come close to the driving range of the Ford truck.

Although both have a similarly sized cab, Ford feels more modern and stylish compared to the Tundra. Tundra offers a superior ground clearance but can not cope with the wide range of technology on offer, which makes the F-150 Tremor the better option amongst the two. 

Ford offered the F-150 Tremor with an intention of taking on the niche market of adventure junkies of the country who weren’t satisfied with the Ranger’s off-roading skills. It is not only a lot more capable, but it also strikes a perfect accord in the minds of the people who have already loved the F-150 badge for over 40 years, making it the most popular vehicle in the country. 

The 2022 model year does not see many changes and yet it outshines all its rivals and although people wanted to see a monster like Tremor similar to the Raptor, the current offering is all set to get the bodies rushing with adrenaline once you decide to take it in its real habitat. Expected to arrive in September this year, you have very little to think about before grabbing hold of this one.
