Overview

The 2010 Toyota 4Runner SUV is a rugged and capable midsize SUV that has earned a loyal following among outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. Despite being more than a decade old, it still holds up well against newer competitors in its class. Let's take a closer look at what makes the 2010 4Runner stand out. The 2010 Toyota 4Runner competes with other midsize SUVs such as the Honda Pilot, the Nissan Pathfinder, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, the 4Runner stands out for its off-road capabilities and durability, which are unmatched by many of its competitors.

The 2010 4Runner comes in three trims: SR5, Trail, and Limited. The SR5 is the base model and comes with features such as a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and a six-speaker audio system. The Trail trim is geared towards off-road enthusiasts and adds features such as an electronic locking rear differential, crawl control, and skid plates. The Limited trim is the most luxurious of the three, with features such as leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a JBL sound system.

The 2010 4Runner is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine that produces 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with rear-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive available as an option. The 4Runner's towing capacity is up to 5,000 pounds, making it a great choice for hauling a trailer or boat.

The 2010 4Runner's handling is solid, with a comfortable ride both on and off the pavement. The off-road features on the Trail trim make it capable of tackling rugged terrain, while the Limited trim offers a smoother, more refined ride for daily driving.

The 2010 4Runner's fuel economy is decent for its class, with an EPA-estimated 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway for the rear-wheel drive model, and 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway for the four-wheel drive model.

The 2010 4Runner's interior is spacious and functional, with plenty of room for passengers and cargo. The materials are durable and of high quality, and the controls are well-placed and easy to use. The Limited trim offers more luxurious features such as leather seats, heated front seats, and a navigation system.

The 2010 4Runner's exterior is bold and rugged, with a design that emphasizes its off-road capabilities. The Trail trim adds unique features such as black wheels and exterior badging, while the Limited trim features chrome accents and a power moonroof.

The 2010 4Runner comes with standard safety features such as antilock brakes, stability control, and front-seat side airbags. The Trail and Limited trims also come with a backup camera as standard, while the Limited trim adds a rearview camera.

Overall, the 2010 Toyota 4Runner is a solid choice for anyone in the market for a midsize SUV. Its off-road capabilities, towing capacity, and spacious interior make it a great option for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of newer models, the 2010 4Runner's durability and reliability make it a smart choice for anyone looking for a vehicle that can stand up to the test of time.

Buying Advice

For 2010, we would recommend getting the midrange trail trim of the 4Runner lineup. For the added bump in price, you get a hood scoop, off-road-oriented tires, smoked head- and taillights, a backup camera that displays in the rearview mirror, upgraded gauges, water-resistant upholstery, power front seats, a sliding rear cargo deck and an upgraded audio system with satellite radio, a USB port with iPod connectivity and Bluetooth phone and audio functions, on top of the other features available in the base trim. We liked the new Shoreline Blue Pearl, Magnetic Gray Metallic and Classic Silver Metallic exterior paint options of the 4Runner for 2010.
