The 2022 Mazda 3 is the right car for those who want something more than a daily commuter for a reasonable budget. With athletic driving dynamics, fine interiors, sharp bodywork, and something to offer for both the hatchback as well as the sedan body preferences. CarHp ranks the 2022 Mazda 3 sedan in the top 5 choices of its class.

The Mazda 3 Sedan lineup proves itself as a reliable daily commuter with low figures for recalls and complaints. Although the 2022 Mazda 3 problems range from collision avoidance system malfunctions to consumers losing their side-view mirrors, they are limited in numbers. The sedan rivals the likes of the 2022 Kia Forte, the 2022 Hyundai Elantra, and the 2022 Honda Civic sedan

2022 Mazda 3 User Complaints and Problems

Since its introduction in 2019, the 4th generation Mazda 3 lineup has not seen many recurring complaints or serious problems with the vehicle. Although customers have reported complaints now and then, there have been no major complaints with the lineup. Reported complaints have ranged from users losing their side-view mirrors to cases of engine stalling and twitchy starts. Mentioned below is a quick read-through of the 2022 Mazda 3 issues:

Mechanical Complaints

  • Engine Stalling- Abrupt loss of engine power and drive has been a common complaint from Mazda 3 drivers. User complaints have stated cases of loss of drive which induces engine stalling while driving at respectable speeds. Engine stalling under driving conditions puts the passengers at risk of being rear-ended.
  • Jerky starts- The problem of starting from a complete stop with significant jerking has been a rare but known issue with the Mazda 3 lineup. Moving with a jolt may risk passenger injury and affect the transmission mechanism of the vehicle. Reported complaints state users experiencing twitchy starts while trying to move from a red light or a complete stop, both of which involve the engagement of the auto start-stop feature.

Electric System Complaints

  • Vehicle fire- Vehicle fire cases have been the rarest reported complaints about the Mazda 3 lineup. So far the 2 cases reported ended up with a total loss of vehicle but no casualties or major injuries. Both the cases mention the vehicle being in a parked state while abrupting in a fire.

Structural Complaints

  • Rear door expansion- Although not as rare as cases of vehicle fires, rear door expansion has been an uncommon complaint among Mazda 3 users. Users have experienced the rear door expanding under high temperatures resulting in loss of structural integrity and damage to the vehicle body.
  • Fragile windshield- The Mazda 3 lineup has records of customer complaints stating chipping and cracking of the windshield as a result of minimal external impact. Few user complaints state damage to the windshield due to impact from small-scale objects like gravel and pebbles. A Fragile windshield drops the structural integrity of the vehicle and can risk passenger injuries.
  • The side-view mirrors fall off- As amusing it may sound, Mazda 3 users have often complained about losing their side-view mirrors due to minor impacts and in some cases with no impact at all. Losing side view mirrors restricts the rearward vision for the operator and may result in a crash. While in motion, a side-view mirror that acts as a projectile can put other motorists at risk.

Safety Complaints

  • Forward collision avoidance malfunction- The most common problem with the Mazda 3 lineup has been forward collision avoidance malfunctions. Forward collision avoidance malfunction leads to abrupt activation of auto-emergency braking which presents the danger of a crash. Most user complaints have stated the forward collision avoidance system is malfunctioning at lower speeds and citing no threat of collision. No records state any cases of casualties or major injuries.
