The 2016 model year of the Ford Edge will offer 4 trim levels to choose from mainly known as SE, SEL, Titanium, and Sport. The base trim costs from $28,700 and goes up to $40,900 for the top-tier trim. It gets additional driving aids and safety features that get better with each higher trim.

We recommend you go for the Titanium trim as it is an upgrade from the SEL trim and adds a vast variety of new features that will make the car make more sense and also satisfy customers as well. However, the main highlight of this trim is the leather upholstery that makes this car more premium and value for money. 

The 2016 Ford Edge is available in three engine options. Most of the trims will carry a 2.0 Liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine with 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque which will be hooked to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line Sport trim will carry a 2.7 L turbocharged V6 engine with 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque regardless of the transmission. 

The SEL and the Titanium trims can also be equipped with an optional 3.5 L naturally aspirated V6 engine making 280 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. Now coming to the acceleration the base 2.0 Liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine can do 0-60 in 7.2 seconds and a quarter-mile in 15.7 seconds.

Here the Jeep Grand Cherokee is slightly ahead of its competition in the 0-60 and the quarter-mile race. The Hyundai Santa Fe on the other hand is the slowest in terms of its performance. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has better torque when compared to its competitors which is useful for city rides.

The 2016 Ford Edge does a decent job in terms of fuel economy. The base 2.0 Liter turbocharged Inline 4 cylinder engine provides 20 MPG in the city, 30 MPG on the highway, and 24 MPG combined. Opting for the AWD variant the Ford Edge becomes a bit less efficient. However, the fuel tank capacity could have been better which would have increased its overall range. 

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most fuel-efficient when compared to its competitors followed by the Nissan Murano coming second on the list. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Santa Fe falls way behind its competitors in terms of the mpg department.

The 2016 Ford Edge has used upscale materials in the interiors with soft-touch materials throughout the car. The dashboard of the car is simple and clean but is made of hard plastics which is the only downgrade in the interiors. All the buttons and controls are well built with excellent fit and finish. 

The space in the front is good so there are no issues for taller folks getting in and out of the car. The 2016 Ford Edge seats 5 people in two rows. Cloth seats come standard which can be upgraded to leather seats. The seats are very comfortable for long rides. The armrest is comfortable and wide enough for both the driver and the passenger. Towards the back, there is sufficient space for two adults and a child. Overall the entire interior layout of the car is excellent and feels premium. 

The Ford Edge has an edge over others when it comes to interior space but only up to two rows. The Hyundai Santa Fe has additional third-row seating which is a bonus. The Ford Edge offers more than enough passenger space. Apart from this it also has a larger cargo trunk as compared to its rivals. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has the worst legroom space in the second row. Meanwhile, Hyundai Santa Fe has the least cargo space available.
