Though Porsche has a high cost of ownership, shoppers must be assured of Cayenne's above-average predicted reliability ratings. Inside, every Porsche features a luxurious cabin with attention to detail and excellent seating comfort. The 2017 Cayenne’s standard features list makes it a good choice for most shoppers and its 300-horsepower V-6 engine takes the SUV to 60 mph in less than 8 seconds.  The Cayenne S has 420 horsepower while the GTS model has 440 horsepower with a 5.1 sec 0-60 mph time. The Cayenne's plug-in hybrid version uses a combination of an electric motor and a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6. With a pair of Turbo models, the Cayenne Turbo offers 520 hp while the Turbo S offers 570 horses. Both turbo models go from 0 to 60 mph in under 4.1-second with launch control engaged. New for 2017, the Cayenne Platinum Edition trim builds on the base model and adds interior tech like Apple CarPlay and the Porsche Connect Plus app for a minor price bump.

2017 Porsche Cayenne Buying Advice

The 2017 Cayenne gets upgraded Porsche's latest (PCM 4.0) touchscreen infotainment system as standard. Platinum Edition Cayenne models also join the lineup. Further, Porsche has discontinued the Cayenne Diesel due to the Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal. The new 2017 Cayenne is a part of a generation that spans from 2011 through 2018. Other than the 2017 model which has an edge, the Used Porsche Cayenne shoppers can look at the 2015 model to save more money. The 2015 Cayenne received a facelift, tweaked suspension, and a small boost in horsepower but lacks the GTS and Turbo S models.

With a torque output of 295 lb-ft, the 2017 Cayenne is capable of towing 7716 lbs. The SUV has decent dimensions to offer comfortable seating and ample advanced safety technology and features to offer. Though the fuel economy ratings are average, that's not bad for a luxury mid-size SUV. It gets a tough time from its rivals such as the 2017 Audi Q7, with its outstanding performance, the Land Rover Discovery which comes around ten grand cheaper than the Cayenne SUV and yet offers more power and reliability. Lastly, the 2017 BMW X6 has a configuration set-up that is extremely similar to the Cayenne.

" The 2017 Cayenne's cabin layout is highly intuitive and well insulated, and it has excellent fit and finish." - Edmunds

The 2017 Porsche Cayenne accommodates 5 individuals, just like all the competitors other than the Audi Q7, which offers a passenger capacity of seven individuals. The Cayenne's interiors are extremely comforting and luxurious, having the best-in-class dimensions and creature comforts; the interior material quality is truly worth the asking price and includes finely stitched leather, real wood, and metal accents. However, Cayenne’s dashboard features many buttons and controls, which will take some time to master. Also, the base Cayenne's 7-inch touch screen is small compared to some newer rivals in the class.

With its ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.6 seconds the Land Rover loses out on gas mileage. The interiors of the 2017 Porsche Cayenne are no doubt more plush and opulent, the interiors of the Land Rover are comforting too.

The 2017 Porsche Cayenne SUV is one of the best-looking SUVs available in the segment currently. The 3.6L V6 is a decent option for the segment, as the engine produces a reasonable 300hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The car's premium quality interiors, spacious seating, commendable riding, and handling experience, and well-equipped features justify its high price. The 5-door SUV slightly lacks in braking, fuel economy, and power, when compared with the rivals through the upper trims, feature better capabilities at additional costs.
