2023 Mazda CX-50 Ride and Handling
A Mazda generally offer better handling than most small crossovers, and that's true in this model as well. The CX-50's skidpad performance of 0.87 g isn't anything special, but it feels smooth and stable when cornering steadily. As Mazda's AWD system manages weight transfer electronically and which feels natural. If you know you're going to corner, the CX-50 might adjust torque a little to shift more weight to the front wheels. The CX-50's drive doesn't change drastically in Sport mode, but its gears hold longer under quicker acceleration and it downshifts sooner when braking. The steering becomes more responsive as well. Furthermore, the Off-Road mode does not become obvious until you turn into a corner on a dusty track or an undulated terrain.
2023 Mazda CX-50 Braking Performance
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 comes with vented disc brakes on all four of its wheels. The brake pads last about 35,000-65,000 miles depending on the nature of the driving. It comes with 12.8 in and 12.8 in brake rotors in front and back respectively. The SUV experiences minimal nosedive which is acceptable for a car of this segment. The brake pedal is firm but comes with a longer travel. The additional braking features are Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control, and Electric Parking Brake. The ABS, however, undergoes a lot of pulsating while under the action, but certainly fulfills its purpose.
