Overview

Mazda's second shot at the crossover segment after the highest-selling CX-5 is via the CX-50. The 2024 Mazda CX-50 continues its journey with some changes for the 2024 model year. The changes come in the form of revised steering and suspension setups for enhanced handling. Also, with the simplified trim lineup, Mazda now offers the premium 12-speaker Bose audio system and wireless charging from the Premium trim onwards as standard.

The 2024 CX-50 price starts at $30,300 and for that price it is one of the top 8 Mazda cars that you should buy in 2024. The Mazda CX 50 2024 model offers better handling and rugged styling without compromising on its dynamic handling capability. Also, it takes care of lower cargo space and practicality issue found on the CX-5. Check out the video by Car Confections to learn if the 2024 CX50 a better and upscale alternative to the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.

Buying Advice

Out of all the 2024 Mazda CX-50 trim configurations, we’d recommend the Preferred trim since it offers plenty of standard features along with some useful ones. The highlights include a windshield wiper de-icer, heating for the mirrors, armrests for both the front and rear seats, and heating for the front seats. For those looking for more performance, the turbo variant has the potential to take the power figures all the way up to 256 hp in its top spec. But regardless of what trim you pick, the Mazda CX50 will always be an engaging car to drive.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The Mazda CX-50 took notes from the best-selling Mazda CX-5 and made the entire formula of success even better. The 2024 Mazda CX-50 comes with mechanical changes to make the handling even better. However, like most of the 2024 Mazda CX-50 reviews, we would say that the upscale interior is something to look out for. It's certainly better than what many rivals could offer at its price point.

In terms of price, the 2024 CX-50 is offered in eight different trim configurations: S Select, S Preferred, S Premium, S Premium Plus, Turbo, Meridian Edition, Turbo Premium, and Turbo Premium Plus. The starting MSRPs of the above-mentioned trims are $30,300, $31,650, $34,000, $37,500, $38,000, $40,800, $41,300, and $43,300, respectively. On top of it, an additional destination fee of $1,375 is levied.

The 2024 Mazda CX-50 2.5 S Select can be financed for a term of 60 months at a low APR of 1.90% with $501 per month and $2,999 as a down payment. The same model can also be leased for a term of 36 months, with $383 per month and $3,382 due at signing. The annual mileage limit is limited to 10,000 miles. Under the hood is a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine making 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. However, for better performance, the same engine is turbocharged to produce 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.

With premium gasoline of a higher octane number, the same output increases to 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. The 2024 Mazda CX-50 0-60 sprint 6.6 seconds, courtesy of higher output figures. In the J.D. Power Consumer Rating, the CX-50 2024 model received an overall score of 78/100, which is on the lower side for a Mazda. For reliability and resale, it scored 70/100 and 84/100, respectively. For driving and dealership experience, it scored 79/100 and 88/100, respectively. Stay tuned for a complete review.
