Overview
Introduced as a replacement for the Kia Optima, the Kia K5 brought about an impending change to the brand’s lineup. As an all-new option launched in 2021, the 2023 Kia K5 gets only minor changes this year. The base LX trim has been discontinued while the new base LXS trim also loses the AWD option. All trims apart from the base get sound-reducing acoustic front windows and there's a new option package on offer for the GT-Line trim. Check out the video below by "The Mount" for a closer look at the 2023 K5.
Having been in production for just two years, Kia has kept the changes this year to a minimum. While the K5 GT-Line gets a new package that adds a panoramic roof with LED interior lighting and gloss-black body molding, the AWD models get a standard heated steering wheel. Available for sale in 4 trims now, the price for the 2023 Kia K5 starts at $25,290 for the base model and goes all the way to $31,690 for the 2023 K5 GT, making it one of the cheapest in the segment.
The Kia K5 2023 gets only a single powertrain excluding the K5 GT. Under the hood, the 1.6-liter 180 hp turbo-4 is capable of doing the 0-60 MPH run in just 7 seconds flat and yet offers a maximum of 37 MPG on the highways. While the K5 sedan offers an option for the AWD, it misses out on a hybrid model which is available with most of its rivals. In a very competitive mid-size sedan segment, the K5 faces tough competition from the likes of the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Camry.
