Overview

The Kia Forte proposes a stylish and respectable performance to the shoppers looking for it. Though the price is aggressively less, it lacks a certain attractiveness when compared to the rivals in the segment. On the basis of the different trim levels, the performance, fuel economy, and other accessories elevate with the price brackets. It is all garnished with the most liberal guarantee in the industry offered by the company and it makes it a worthy competition. Kia offers an I4 engine in the base models of the Forte that delegates 147 hp. The performance number increases with the more powerful turbocharged engine on the GT model of the Kia Forte, which pumps out 201 horsepower.

Buying Advice

We guide you to go with the GT Line variant of the 2023 Kia Forte if you are okay with the fewer powers in the rims. It provides almost the same features and accessories even in the optional packages with a less rice bracket than GT. It also gives good fuel economy figures and saves your extra penny to spend on fuel.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

In the new 2023 Forte, Kia is expected to not make any changes. With the same refreshed look as the last year, Kia Forte is predicted to change its name to Kia K3 in order to match the nomenclature. It is going to carry the updated exterior, wheel designs, and revised bumpers from last year. As usual, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will come as standard. The new Forte will be competing with the Honda Civic, the Hyundai Elantra, and the Mazda 3 Sedan.

Features
9.0/10

The whole lineup of the Kia Forte commences with its most popular and the base model LX and goes all the way up to GT. The base models are suited with the standard I4 engine that produces 147 Horsepower whereas the top variants GT carry a more powerful turbocharged engine that produces 201 horsepower. The LX, LXS, and GT Line models offer a CVT, whereas the GT comes with 6-speed manual transmission and 7-speed automatic transmission. The Standard 8.2-inch infotainment screen offers wireless Bluetooth with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity. This experience rises with the 10.3 -inch touch screen in the GT and GT line models. Ordinary trims like LX and LXS run on 15-inch and 16-inch wheels respectively, but it runs faster with 17-inch on the GT line and 18-inch on the GT models. All the models run on the same Front Wheel Drive (FWD) drivetrain.

It also debuts as the best range vehicle among the four, where it carries the range of 462 mpg in the city, 588 mpg on the highway, and 518 mpg combined. The 2023 Forte comes second in the row, despite having more curb weight than the Civic, it facilitates healthy mileage figures. Civic scores 31 mpg in the city, 40mpg on the highway, and 35 mpg combined. The new Mazda 3, scores least in both the mileage and range figures, all due to its more powerful engine and highest curb weight.

Interior
6.0/10

Indirectly marketed as a Stinger Sport-looking car at an affordable price, the new Forte competes for the interior features with its rivals. The base models are enriched with a faux leather interior. The seats feel comfortable and provide competitive roomy status to the shoppers looking for them. The standard 8.2-inch infotainment screen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. On the base models, for the first row, Kia offers 38.8 inches of headroom,42.2 inches of legroom, and 56.1 inches of room for the shoulder. For the second row, it provides 37.5 inches for headroom, 35.7 for legroom, and 55.3 inches for the shoulder.

Comes with 4-wheel ABS as standard, Forte is also concerned about the rear child safety locks and emergency braking assist. The minimalist cabin has ample room for the adults to go on a long drive. You get dual-zone automatic climate control, high-quality leather seats, and heated side mirrors with blind spot monitoring as an option in the LXS trim. However, if you want to have the fun of a clear sky, a sunroof is an option on the GT line and GT trims.

Exterior
7.0/10

In the 2023 generation of the Forte, Kia has cumulated the same upgraded look of last year. The appearance of the vehicle does not match the price it carries, all thanks to the sporty and performance-oriented design. It is manufactured on the same 106.3-inch wheelbase and it carries on a length of 182.7 inches. While enlightening the width of the car without mirrors, it measures 70.9 inches wide. It scores 56.5 inches in height. It has a ground clearance of 5.3 inches. LX, LXS, and the GT line dance with the same curb weight of 2769 lbs. Due to the turbocharged engine, the GT has an increased curb weight of 2989 lbs.

The new Honda Civic has the longest wheelbase of 107.7 inches whereas the Forte has the shortest wheelbase among all. As the rest of the three cars are composed of the same length, Forte remains behind with its 182.7 inches length. In terms of height for better headroom, Forte beats all. Since the ground clearance of the New Civic is unavailable, a practical approach finds it to have the same as that of Forte and Elantra, keeping Mazda 3 atop.

Some more exterior features that make the Forte more interesting-

  • 15-inch steel alloys on LX
  • 16-inch aluminum wheels on LXS
  • 17-inch aluminum alloys on GT line
  • 18-inch wheels on GT
  • 19-inch optional wheels for GT

Competition

2023 Kia Forte vs 2023 Honda Civic

With around an extra $ 5000, the new Civic neglects the New Forte. The Civic has a comparatively larger wheelbase. The 2023 Civic offers better fuel economy figures and it also transmits a healthier range than Forte. But in terms of height, Forte takes the deal. Forte facilitates a more sporty look with a less price bracket. It is also induced with good safety features as standard. If the priority of the shopper is a fuel-friendly car with a longer look and higher top speed, then New Civic is for them, unless you want a sporty-looking car, with less price range, Forte is a vehicle to go with.

2023 Kia Forte vs. 2023 Hyundai Elantra

The Forte and the Elantra resemble each other in almost every dimension, but Elantra has a slightly larger wheelbase. The ground clearance of the Kia will be definitely more than that of Hyundai’s, due to its best in segment height. With less cargo capacity, Elantra gives birth to a better room for the front and rear seat passengers. In the Elantra, Hyundai provides best-in-class fuel economy and range numbers despite having a shorter fuel tank. The Forte walks ahead with more cargo capacity and top speed. Both vehicles are good at their specific realms.

2023 Kia Forte vs. 2023 Mazda 3

If it's a matter of more horsepower and doing 0-60 mph in fewer time intervals, the 2023 Mazda 3 walks far away from the Forte but touring the more powerful engine results in more fuel consumption. Forte has better fuel economy and range than that Mazda’s, but it has a shorter wheelbase. Mazda is good at ground clearance and Top speed but lacks in cargo carrying capacity. The Forte steers with less curb weight. With 6 speed automatic transmission and a hike of $ 3000, Mazda is a good-to-go choice for the shopper seeking more horsepower.

Final Verdict

If the fuel economy figures do not matter to you, and you are cranky about a sporty-looking vehicle, then CARHP recommends you this sedan. With a lesser price bracket than the rivals of the segment, it delivers good value and various prominent features even in the usual trims. It comes with one of the best in class cargo carrying capacity and fuel tank. In terms of top speed, it beats many sedans in the segment.

              Great Car and Beautifully Too!

Pros - ["Comfortable seats", "Fantastic MPG", "Great tech features"]

Cons - ["Tire cost is crazy", "No included ashtray", "Small hiccups"]

My Kia is amazing and it has excellent handling as well as fantastic gas mileage. The color is a glossy candy apple red. It has excellent brakes and I could not have got a better car. Also I have never had a car this brand new in my entire time of driving and when I got my Kia I was over the moon with happiness.
