The 2019 Jaguar F-Type comes in 6 different trim options to choose from based on your requirements. There are three different engine options and four different powertrain options for the 2019 Jaguar F-Type. The base P300 F-Type is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo inline-4 engine and is only available in rear-wheel drive. It comes with all the standard features like the updated 10” touchscreen infotainment system, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, 12-way Power-adjustable seats with memory function, and 18” alloy wheels to name a few. You can get all these features with a more powerful 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine in the P340 trim.

Things start to get interesting from the P380 trim as it gets more power under the hood with the same 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine that comes with the P340 option. This is also the entry trim if you want to buy an AWD drivetrain variant of the 2019 F-Type. It also gets adaptive suspension and bigger 19” wheels with upgraded braking hardware. The top two options R and SVR get better features and more power but become very expensive.

The base trim of the Jaguar F-Type is enough for your daily tasks, but it will not be able to deliver the thrill of driving. You can prefer upgrading to the P340 trim as it doesn’t cost that much and comes with a more powerful V6 engine for a better driving experience. The upgrade to P380 is very expensive and we only recommend it if you want to buy an AWD variant. 

The 2019 Jaguar F-Type gets a standard 2.0-liter turbo inline-4 engine. The engine produces a peak power of 296 horsepower and a peak torque of 295 lb-ft. The engine produces sufficient power for your daily drive and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It takes 5.5 seconds to reach 0 to 60 mph and the quarter-mile comes in 14.1 seconds. Although the acceleration is good, the competition offers better acceleration figures. If you want more performance, then you have the option to upgrade to a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine that produces 340 horsepower. 

The same engine is also available in a different powertrain option with the P380 trim where it produces a healthy 380 horsepower. The upgrade to the 380 hp engine seems the most significant as you can not feel much difference between the standard four-cylinder engine and the 340 hp V6 engine. The most powerful engine on offer with the 2019 Jaguar F-Type is a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that produces 550 horses with the R trim and 580 horsepower with the SVR trim.

The 2019 Jaguar F-Type has multiple engine options on offer to cater to different types of audiences. If we consider the base engine of all the vehicles in the segment then the F-Type produces the least power and takes the highest time to reach 0 to 60 mph. How well does the 2019 Jaguar F-Type handle?

Jaguars are known for their sporty handling and engaging drive experience and the 2019 Jaguar F-Type is no exception. It handles very well for the most part. The driving position is very comfortable and changing lanes is very easy. The steering wheels lack the heft and feel light at higher speeds, but it is a communicative steering wheel. The steering responds very precisely to your inputs and it does not feel confused at any point. The only thing that the steering lacks is the feeling that you expect from it.

The 2019 Jaguar F-Type gets an all-new bigger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The screen looks fine and the visibility is also good but the user interface has the scope of improvement. The audio system is not compromised though, and you get a 10-speaker Meridian audio system as standard across the trims. There is no voice recognition on offer too. The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray offers a lot more cars for the price. It comes with a more powerful standard V8 engine and the acceleration is also good. The looks are also not compromised at all from the outside. Still, the Jaguar F-Type stays ahead in driving dynamics and it is not easy to match the driving characteristics of the Jaguar. The Chevy Corvette Stingray offers more space but the F-Type compensates for that with a more premium interior.

The Porsche 718 Cayman offers slightly better performance compared to the Jaguar F-Type. The handling is also better with the Porsche 718 Cayman. Though it is the shortest car in the competition, it is wider than the Jaguar F-Type which feels comfortable from inside. Both these coupes are very close in every aspect and the choice depends on personal preference.
