Overview

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis is a mid-size sedan offered in 2 trims, starting off at a base MSRP of $38,000. For that price, it mainly competes with the BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and the Audi A6. Between 2 trims, the Genesis offers 2 powertrains. The base engine is a 3.8L V6 capable of making 311 horsepower and 293 lb-ft of torque. If more power is required, there is also a 420 horsepower-making 5.8L V8 engine. Both engines are mated to an 8-Speed Automatic transmission.

The Genesis reaches 60 MPH from zero in 6.6 seconds on its base engine, which gets pumped up to 5.3 seconds with the 5.8L V8. Depending on the powertrain, the Genesis can manage a combined fuel economy between 18 and 22 MPG.

Buying Advice

Instead of spending $51,500 on Genesis 5.0, we think you should opt for Genesis 3.8 and save $13,000. It is punchy enough and gives you the freedom to select either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive powertrain. You also have the choice to select desirable optional packages.
