Overview

Cadillac’s newest entrant, the midsize luxury SUV, the XT5 remains more or less the same for 2018, which marks its second running model year since its launch. This model year does see any considerable update to the equipment list apart from the inclusion of an optional exterior color rightly named harbor Blue metallic. Also, this year sees the EPA dropping official MPG ratings on this SUV for both RWD and AWD trims, while the complimentary scheduled maintenance package now gets cut down from 50,000-miles to just 36,000-miles.

The 2018 Cadillac XT5, like the previous year, is available in 4 standard trims namely the base, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum levels. Each trim will house a similar 3.6L naturally aspirated V6 engine that is coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The top Platinum trim comes equipped with a factory AWD system while the rest of the trims get it as an option for a minimum of $1,500 extra. The base price for the 2018 Cadillac XT5 is set to go from $39,995 and at this price range would it be going against the like SUVs like the Buick Envision, the Infiniti QX50, and the Volvo XC60

Buying Advice

If you are looking for a midsize SUV that stands out with its style and luxury, the Cadillac XT5, like its older siblings would be a perfect option for you. Even though the performance and handling department are not the best that we have seen in this class, the upmarket and airy feeling cabin combined with the cloud-like ride should work for most people. The base prices are a bit on the higher side, but that’s what you pay for all the modern gizmos and one of the best put-together cabins in its competition.
