Overview

The Audi A4 is a beautiful car with great features. This German-designed car is high in style, performance, technology, and quality. The A4 is one of the valuable packages in mid-range sedans which offers various features and gives a comfortable cabin. It comes in a total of three trim levels and a variety of transmission options. The engine feels quite underpowered, but it performs quite well on tracks.

Buying Advice

If you need a blend of luxury and power, the Prestige trim is the best and we also recommend going for it. Here you will get features like leather upholstery which makes the cabin much more premium, heated and memory seats for additional comfort, Bang & Olufsen sound system for immersive sound experience, and much more, which you’d find totally worth buying. In the Prestige, the Quattro will be the best choice to opt for, which enhances your driving pleasure and performance of the car.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The Audi A4 delivers a sense of speed, performance, and crisp handling not only in the luxury car segment, but also on highways, country roads, and city streets. With a more aerodynamic shape, it looks as good as it performs. Its 8-speed automatic transmission now becomes much more refined which delivers excellent fuel economy. The 2015 Audi A4 starts from $36,000 and goes all the way up to $43,000, and competes with Mercedes-Benz C 300, BMW 328i xDrive, and the Cadillac ATS luxury.

Features
9.9/10

The 2015 Audi A4 is offered in three trim levels, namely, Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. In these three trims, you have a variety of options for the drivetrain and transmissions. Engine and Performance
8.0/10

The 2015 Audi A4 has only one engine option which is the 2.0L turbocharged motor, which makes 220 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. However, you have three transmission options to opt from. The 8-speed automatic, CVT, and manual are the options you’d get, in which the automatic unit has much impressive performance and efficiency as well. All the trims are offered in FWD and AWD drivetrains. The engine is not the fastest in the class, but able to perform in acceleration tests quite well. It takes 6.2 seconds to accelerate from 0-60 MPH, and 13.2 seconds to complete a quarter-mile.

Although all have similar capacity engines the A4 feels quite underpowered. Whereas the power output of the Cadillac ATS is the maximum. The acceleration of the A4 is not much impressive, but surprisingly, it is the fastest to cover a quarter-mile, and also has a top speed of 155 MPH which is the best in the class.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

Although the engine is not much impressed with its power output, it definitely impresses you with its refinement and economy. The 2015 A4 delivers a class-leading fuel economy, and the credit goes to its efficient 8-speed automatic transmission which shifts at perfect revs. It delivers 22 MPG in the city and 31 on the highways and a fuel capacity of 16. Gallons will easily manage your driving range over 350 miles in the city of 500 miles on the highways.

The A4 and the 320i deliver great fuel economy, while the C 300 is less economical. The fuel holding capacity of the Mercedes-Benz C 300 is maximum and it can easily manage the range of over 480 miles on the highways. The A4 has a decent-sized tank and has a superior driving range as well.

Interior
7.0/10

The 2015 Audi A4 features a premium-looking cabin with a combination of dark brown leather and some wooden treatments. It has a dual-tone interior that looks plush and the beige-colored seats give a roomier feel inside. The dashboard doesn’t look that appealing with its design but it has an absolutely premium fit and finish. The center area is quite cluttered with lots of buttons and knobs which are of high quality and don’t feel cheap. The center console also has lots of buttons and knobs to control various features of the car.

Coming to its seating and comfort, it can accommodate five adults but it is suitable for four comfortably because of the center tunnel which eats up space at the rear. The seats are wrapped in beige leather upholstery and have excellent bolstering. The front seats feature 10-way power adjustments along with the heating function and have a decent amount of room. And you get a roomier cabin at the rear as well. Along with that, the A4 doesn’t compromise the boot space on offer. It has a trunk volume of 12.4 cu-ft. which can easily hold luggage for 4.

All the sedans provide seating for 5, however, the BMW has a much roomier cabin. The A4 also has enough space and you don’t feel cramped here. In the rear, all have almost the same room on offer, but the trunk volume of the BMW is best-in-class. And the Cadillac ATS has the smallest trunk on offer. Some of the standout interior features are as follows:

  • Tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Premium leather upholstery
  • Three-stage heated seats at the front
  • S-line styling (optional)
  • Auto-dimming IRVM

How intuitive is the 2015 Audi A4’s infotainment unit?

Audi continues its infotainment unit in the model year 2015 as well. It features a 6.5-inch TFT display that has crisp graphics. The unit comes with satellite navigation as standard and has various features. This panel can be controlled with the steering wheel or with the buttons and knobs provided at the center console. This unit supports various connectivity like Bluetooth audio streaming, USB, AUX. Some of the highlights of the infotainment system are as follows:

  • 14-speakers Bang & Olufsen sound system
  • 550-watts amplifier
  • Satellite navigation
  • SiriusXM traffic info

Exterior
8.0/10

The 2015 Audi A4 is an elegant-looking sedan with a minimalistic design approach. It has sharp cuts and creases but is kept very minimal all around the car. Starting up front, it got projector headlamps with the DRLs, and Audi’s signature hexagonal grille still denotes the Audi family. At the bottom, it has LED fog lamps in a boxy design. The overall front look of the car is very simple and yet looks quite attractive.

From the side profile, it doesn’t look too long but still, it has ample space inside. Here also, the design is kept very minimal. It has only 2 cuts which enhance its looks as well as the aerodynamics of the car. The 18-inch 5-spoke alloys are the major highlight here which are covered with low-profile tires, and look very attractive. And from the rear, the LED tail lamps and dual exhaust tips enhance its looks.

With this, you don’t have to worry about bumpy roads. Some of the standout exterior features are as follows:

  • Bi-xenon headlamps
  • 18-inch alloys
  • S-line sporty elements
  • Heated wiper jets

Safety
8.0/10

The Audi A4 is built on the VW Group's MLB platform which gives it excellent strength to withstand collisions. The proof of its robustness is given by agencies like NHTSA and the IIHS. NHTSA awarded it 5 on 5 stars for its overall safety, while the IIHS gives the tag of ‘Good’ in the majority of the areas. Apart from the excellent build, it also features a wide range of active and passive safety features, among which some of the features which are worth mentioning are:

Final Verdict

The 2015 Audi A4 is really an impressive package of performance, comfort, and quality materials. The power figures of its engine might look underpowered, but it has quite a good performance on road.
