Overview

The 2016 Toyota Camry remains majorly unchanged as it was completely redesigned just last year. However, Toyota has added a new trim with Special Edition Package, based on the standard SE trim. The Special Edition Package adds several distinctive features like blue color interior accents, different gauge cluster and smoked taillights, making it stand out from the rest of the trim configurations. The 2016 Toyota Camry price starts at $23,070 and an additional $885 is levied as destination charge.

Featuring a 5-trim lineup of LE, SE, SE w/ Special Edition Package, XLE, and XSE, the 2016 Toyota Camry MSRP can be an expense of $23,955-$27,195 this season. Having said that, it simply translates to the fact that the range-leader 2016 Toyota Camry XSE will cost you $3,240 more than the 2016 Toyota Camry LE for enhanced specs and assets.

We Recommend

Considering the list of features and specifications, we would like to recommend the 2016 Toyota Camry XLE or XSE trims. The available V6 engine makes the deal even sweeter, adding performance to the comfort or sportiness of the above mentioned trims respectively.

The Camry 2016 gets a 2.5-liter engine with 178 horsepower. An optional 3.5-liter V6 engine offers 268 hp and is available on the XSE V6 and XSE V6 trims only. The 2016 Toyota Camry interior is spacious and offers a trunk space of 15.4 cubic feet. With gas mileage of up to 28 mpg (combined), the Camry is not the most efficient. The 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid offers up to 40 mpg (combined). The current model year has less problems, being recalled thrice and 145 complaints under its name. The Camry is more powerful than the Chevrolet Malibu, lighter than the Honda Accord and has a higher ground clearance than the Hyundai Sonata.

2016 Toyota Camry for sale

The 2016 Toyota Camry LE can be leased for a term of 36 months with $331/month and $2,397 due at signing along with an annual mileage limit of 10,000 miles. The same model can be financed for a term of 48 months for as low as 3.49% APR with $509/month and $2,396 down payment. The final APR can be lower or higher depending on the credit score profile of the customer, term duration and additional offers.

For budget-oriented buyers, the used 2016 Toyota Camry can be availed of with a base price of $8,500. Going for older model years like the 2015 Toyota Camry could be a matter of $2,999 and Toyota Camry 2014 can cost as much as $4,499 along with a listing of up to 23,754 in total.

Buying Advice

This answer is most of the time easy for us, but in this case, choosing a model is getting difficult thanks to the difference in the models. We might go with two models in this case; we would pick the XSE trim to satisfy our need for the car to look sporty and the XLE trim for complete comfort. However, there is a catch where we pay a bit more and get both of these in one model by opting for a V6 engine, and the car gets both sporty and comfy.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2016 Toyota Camry is priced at $23,070 for the base LE trim and goes up to $26,310 for the top-end XLE trim, and this is a very competitive price point that makes the car go against the likes of the Hyundai Sonata, the Honda Accord, and the Chevrolet Malibu. Although the car might not be something to attract you from its exterior, it has its individual identity to hold a solid spot in the segment. The Camry is a great offering from Toyota in the four-door sedan segment. The Camry has managed to become one of America’s best-selling cars, and that is no small feat. The Camry is not terrible in terms of performance, courtesy of its standard Inline-4 and optional V6 engines but is really a car that has a great practical interior along with lots of features. The 2016 Camry exterior is not too fancy or blingy, but it is not too dated or gaudy to look at either.

Buying Advice

This answer to the trim that we'd recommend is quite easy. We might go with two models in this case; we would pick the 2016 Camry XSE trim to satisfy our need for the car to look sporty and the XLE trim for complete comfort. However, there is a catch where we pay a bit more and get both of these in one model, which is the 2016 Camry XSE V6 by opting for a V6 engine, as the car gets both sporty and comfy too.

Features
8.0/10

The 2016 Toyota Camry is offered in 4 trims. The two middle trims viz. SE and the XSE trims are the more sporty-looking models, while the base and the top-most, i.e., LE and the XLE are trims are more luxury focussed. The 2016 Camry's base trim (LE) starts at a price of $23,070. At this price point, it seems a little more expensive than its rivals. Here is a list of the key features that are available with the trims of the 2016 Toyota Camry.

Also, Toyota introduces a new SE package, for the price of $25,715, which brings about further feature additions in the form of 18-inch alloys, a new meter cluster, and also a new Entune infotainment system.

Fuel Economy
8.0/10

The Toyota Camry offers a decent fuel economy and is among the best in class. The fuel economy with the standard Camry 2.5-liter inline-4 engine stands at 25 MPG in the city, 35 MPG on the highway, and 29 combined. Consequently, the more powerful 3.5L V6 engine gives 21 MPG in the city, 31 MPG on the highways, and 24 combined. Over the previous year's model, the overall fuel economy has gone down from 26 city/36 highway and 30 combined for the standard 2.5-liter inline-4.

The Camry, unfortunately, performs slightly below average than its rivals. Taking note of the figures provided, it is easy to jump from the Camry to the more fuel-efficient options. The base LE trim will make a great pick, however, the upgraded 3.5 L V-6 engine is sure to add the extra horsepower you'd want on a highway, although for a major dip in EPA estimates.

Interior
9.0/10

The 2016 Toyota Camry's interior is one of the best in this segment. The cabin is very attractive and filled with high-quality materials. The room inside the cabin is plenty in both the front and rear, this extra space makes sure that even the taller passengers don't feel cramped in the rear seats. The Camry's seats are wide enough to accommodate adults easily. The sedan comes standard with an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat with lumbar support. The driver's seat in XLE and XSE trims are heated as well.

When compared with its rivals, the Camry does really well in a few aspects like offering more rear legroom, shoulder room, and more rear headroom, etc. However, it is quite assertive that the Sonata has a lot more space than the Accord or the Camry, and is a great choice. But still, the convenience features offered in the Camry complemented by its safety record make up for an even greater buy. The 2016 Toyota Camry also has an impressive cargo capacity of 15.4 cu. ft.

All trims of the 2016 Toyota Camry come with an inbuilt Entune infotainment center. The infotainment unit on the Camry makes sure all entertainment needs are properly taken care of, along with several other perks. The important aspect of the Camry's infotainment system that separates it from the rest is the extensive level of customization it offers. It has Audio Settings, Phone Pairing, Bluetooth Connectivity, and Hands-Free Calling. There is Navigation with Traffic Reports, Weather Reports, and a Reverse Camera.

Exterior
6.0/10

The 2016 Toyota Camry's exterior silhouette is narrower and shorter than most other family sedans. There is very little variation in dimensions when compared to the competition, although it is difficult to note these in real-world scenarios. Just like all other mid-size sedans, the Camry also is easy to navigate into parking areas and through cramped spaces. It has a much better ground clearance than the rest of the competition. The midsize Camry sedan weighs 3,240 lbs, making it the second lightest option.

The Camry is a long vehicle, and the dimensions translate into better cabin space inside. The rivals like the Chevrolet Malibu and the Hyundai Sonata also have long wheelbases. The Camry is also the tallest when compared with its rivals and also offers better handling than the rest, with credit to the lower curb weight. On the whole, the Toyota Camry looks sleek and aerodynamic and showcases a sweet sense of luxury with its excellent exterior design.

This car’s basic safety blanket consists of Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Four Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes, Brake Assist, and Smart Stop Technology that automatically acts when in need and in case of emergency. 2016 Toyota Camry vs 2016 Hyundai Sonata

Falling into the accessible midsize sedan class, the 2016 Hyundai Sonata and 2016 Toyota Camry are fairly similar. Both options are impressively equipped, sport enticing exterior fascia, and are regarded for their defined ergonomics. But despite its slightly higher pricing, the Japanese sedan makes for a viable choice

Compared to Hyundai’s offering, the Camry is quicker, fairly efficient, and has better passenger space to offer. The ride quality with either engine option is more refined and even the cargo capacity offered is higher, which makes it a practical proposition.

2016 Toyota Camry vs 2016 Honda Accord

Part of similar cultural heritage, the 2016 Toyota Camry and 2016 Honda Accord finely represent bespoke Japanese engineering. They are boldly designed, have sport-oriented interiors, and are generously equipped when it comes to their standard feature list. However, when pitted directly against each other, Honda’s midsize sedan does gain ascendancy.

It is significantly quicker than its counterpart while vaunting better efficiency figures across the board. It is available in a coupe body style as well, which allows the vehicle to resonate with versatility. Though its infotainment system does lack slight intuitiveness, the 2016 Accord’s low-price tag allows the vehicle to deliver better performance for the buck.

Final Verdict

The 2016 Camry from Toyota is a great offering and is also considered a premium offering in certain markets outside the US. The car is really safe and is rated 5 stars by the safety authorities. The car is one of the most reliable offerings, and the comfort and feature levels are unmatched. The Camry also comes with the option of a V6 engine, which gives out a good sporty performance. The Camry might be slightly overpriced when compared to the competition, but is worth every penny.

              Hard Not to Love!

Pros - ["Superb Reliability", "Great Gas Mileage"]

Cons - ["Dated infotainment center", "Manual is vague on when to flush trans fluid"]

As a young college student living far from home, this car has pretty much everything I could ever need. I have a well loved 2016 Camry Hybrid SE and it offers a spectacularly reliable drive at currently a little over 130,000 miles. The AC is terrific, electronics are great, Ive never blown a fuse, the OEM Panasonic battery is still kickin, and all else is in perfect running condition. With a hybr...

              Awesome camry

Pros - ["Sleek look", "Dependability", "Interior lacks"]

Cons - ["Lacks power", "Leather seat cracked", "Seats don't cool"]

Great car. Has a very smooth ride. Lacks in power but more than nakes up for it in style. The MPG are awesome on the highway and in the city. I don't like the leather in the summer. No mechanical issues and 150000 miles still runs quite and smooth
