Overview

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox MSRP of $23,800 expands to changes with newly standardized automatic emergency braking, Lane Departure Warning & Assist, Forward Collision Mitigation, and Automatic High Beam Assist. Not just that, it has discontinued the diesel engine but now welcomes the recently added Midnight Edition Package for its LT trim along with Redline Edition for the Premier variant. Having the thump to tow up to 3,500 lbs across its trim level of L, LS, LT, and Premier, the 2020 Equinox MPG stands unaffected at 31 MPG(combined fuel economy).

Chevrolet Equinox Buying Advice

The 2020 Equinox has got an inspiring extension in its safety build that is similar to its successors. That being said, it even boasts its optional 2.0L 252 hp engine on offer that seems to be missing in the 2021 and 2022 MY. Therefore, one should definitely prefer 2020 MY over all.

Jolted by the 252 hp 2.0L turbo I-4 engine and the 170-hp 1.5L turbo I-4 powerhouse inside the belly, the 2020 Equinox can be sufficient for your daily city commutes and bride highway flooring. Also, a cargo capacity of up to 63.9 cu-ft, once all seats are folded, provides you to be content while loading your stuffs. Having all these features all at once makes it a direct competitor to Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Mazda CX-5 at the same time as well.

2020 Chevrolet Equinox for sale

The 2020 Chevy Equinox LS is up for sale with a lease deal as high as $589/month for 42 months alongside a downpayment of $1,999.

Buying Advice

The 2020 Chevy Equinox LT is the one that is recommended, simply for its holistic offering. With enhanced comfort and convenience and an impressive safety build, the LT comes out to be a complete package. Its availability with an optional engine means a better driving persona as well which further strengthens its case.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2020 Chevy Equinox has been introduced with an enhanced safety suite alongside a decent practicality and utility combination of 1,500(170 hp I-4)-3,500(252 hp I-4) lbs towing and 1,190 lbs payload capacity respectively. Moreover, the Chevy Equinox price range from $23,800-$33,000 is not simply an increment but a testament of superior quality stature that is concreted by its 84 J.D power rating, thereby, making it one of the most reliable ones in the segment.

As far as finances are concerned, the Chevrolet Equinox features to have an expense of $4,226 at the least on its base L configuration in 5 years. While the Equinox LT takes the investment to $4,686 for the same maintenance priority. Apart from that, we have resale depreciation of $12,481 for the L, $12,951 for the LS, $13,712 for the LT, and $14,413 for the Premier Edition as well after those 5 years, all of which have FWD and 1.5T I-4 engine in common.

Features
7.0/10

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox L is one among the 4 trims that growl on the streets with a base price tag of $23,800. The Automatic Emergency Braking, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System, and 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make up for the inherent virtues. While the Equinox LS 2020 gets within your limit after spending an extra $2,500 for the FWD layout with which Forward collision mitigation and 17-inch aluminum wheel come right at your service.

Go for the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox LT and you are asked to pay a bare minimum of $27,500. Once done, the standard features such as the HID LED headlights, 4.2-inch color driver’s display, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat tend to introduce themselves. The most feature-rich in the lineup is the Premier trim that can cost you $31,400 for inspiring assets including the functionalities of heated front seats and an 8-inch diagonal HD color touchscreen.

Fuel Economy
5.0/10

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox MPG can be as high as 31 MPG on the highways and as low as 26 MPG in the city. And its 14.9-gallon fuel tank along with an FWD layout pushes it to go for a distance of up to 462 miles. However, the more powerful 2.0 T I-4 engine returns nothing more than the 22/29/25 MPG in the city/highways/combined situations.

The economy can get a blow of 1 MPG dip for the AWD configuration for both engines and as a result, the combined range in that condition ceases to cross 421 miles. Considering the rivals, the Equinox MPG on average is less than the CR-V and RAV4 by 2 MPG which makes it suffer for a lower combined range of 3 miles and 18 miles respectively.

Interior
7.0/10

There's plenty of support for all-day driving, and overall comfort is on par with many rivals – Cars.USnews.com

The 2020 Chevy Equinox interior has been arranged to have an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat from LT onwards. However, one does not find any variation in the Jet Black cloth upholstery that continues to be as it is just like the ambiance of the Equinox LS and L having manual adjustment for the seats at the best. But as we climb the trim level, the perforated leatherette seats in Jet Black and Jet Black/Maple Sugar accents make themselves called upon inside the Premier.

The Equinox 2020 has been fitted with single-zone climate control as well for all except the Premier configuration which has got an exclusive dual-zone automatic climate control to regulate temperature. The standard feature of the Equinox Premier does not end here as the heated front seats are also there for you to comfort along with a cargo capacity of 29.9-63.9 cu-ft. This cargo volume stays consistent for all irrespective of their corresponding asset lists

Flashing on the figures hints about the Chevrolet Equinox cargo space deficit by 9.3 cu-ft against the Honda CR-V. While the Mazda CX-5 cargo volume is just a cu-ft larger than the Equinox. Regarding the seating organization, there is no major gap among them, thereby, neutralizing the comparison. Swaying a little from this parameter will guide us to the Equinox 2020's standard Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System on offer.

The 2020 Equinox interior can be equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the L, LS, and LT trims. And the Premier integrates the top-notch 8-inch diagonal HD color touchscreen for the same purpose. In terms of common stance, all of them have got a similar 6-speaker audio system. There is a level of upgrade available at your hands too with the Infotainment Package costing $895 that flaunts you with its Connected Navigation.

Looking the part of a younger and smaller sibling to the midsize Chevy Traverse, the new Equinox retains a fresh look all its own–Kelley Blue Book

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox design philosophy has been kept similar in its attraction glowing in Blue Glow Metallic, Mosaic Black Metallic, Iron Gray Metallic, and 5 other exterior colors. Moreover, it rides with ease on its 17-inch aluminum wheels when you prefer the L, LS, and LT variants. However, the 18-inch aluminum wheels are fitted for the Premier trim.

A sober appearance of the 2020 Equinox is achieved by its halogen headlights in the L and LS format that are replaced by the HID headlamps for the rest of the lineup. Having said that, the deep-tinted rear glass is available too for the LT and Premier while the optional sunroof can be a beneficial add-on just like the standard roof rail.

Meanwhile, the RAV4 has been designed to be more lively in going through valleys which is achieved by its 0.5 inches better ground clearance than the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox.

2020 Chevrolet Equinox vs 2020 Honda CR-V

There is no denying the fact that the 2020 Honda CR-V is one of the best SUVs in the segment. It flaunts an easy-to-understand infotainment system and best-in-class storage space. The CR-V additionally has a rich lodge that offers two lines of seating and has enough space to oblige grown-ups. Its power performance is also better than the Chevy Equinox 2020. Hence, one should prefer the CR-V over Equinox.

2020 Chevrolet Equinox vs 2020 Mazda CX-5

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 and the 2020 Chevy Equinox have got parallel fuel mileage returns along with similar handling dynamics. The cabin spaciousness is at par for both of them alongside an almost equal cargo space. One can hardly make any difference between their infotainment as well. So, one can go to either of them.

2020 Chevrolet Equinox vs 2020 Toyota RAV4

The 2020 Toyota RAV4 is easily a better option when it comes to the overall balance among power dynamics, fuel economy, and towing prowess. Its cargo capacity is also superior and so is the cabin spaciousness and interior tech-ends. All in all, it has to be RAV4 for now over the Chevy Equinox 2020.

Final Verdict

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox lacks the power surge and overall practicality. It fuel economy could have slightly more improved just like its interior comfort and cargo volume. The thrill is also missing in its drive. Hence, one can ditch for this year.
