Among the competition, The Nissan Murano may lose out to all its rivals in terms of power output, but the crossover manages to annihilate some of its rivals in the speed charts. In the 0-60 mph run, the Murano’s 0-60 mph run just edges out the Buick Enclave which does it in 8 seconds flat, while the Hyundai Santa Fe is the fastest accelerating crossover. On the other hand, the Buick Enclave is the most sluggish car which maxes out at 117 mph.

Fuel Economy
6.0/10

The Nissan Murano’s powertrain is definitely one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the competition. With FWD, the crossover lends out a city MPG of 18. On the highway, it returns an MPG of 24. EPA rates its combined MPG at an excellent 20 MPG. These figures belong to the highest fuel economy estimates of its segment. With a 21.7-gallon tank under the body, the Murano returns a spectacular mileage of 390 miles in the city and 499 miles on the highway. However, equipping the AWD drivetrain drops the mileage by 1 mpg when it comes to highways.

7.0/10

Nissan has never compromised on the safety of its occupants, as every vehicle in its lineup offers great build quality and advanced safety features. Hence, the same applies to Nissan Murano as well. It procures an ideal rating of 4 stars from NHTSA and scores an overall Good rating from the Insurance Institute for highway safety. However, it scores marginally on only one front which is the Roof strength test. As standard, it gets features such as:

  • Brake Assist
  • Child Safety Locks
  • Traction control
  • Electronic stability control
  • Driver Airbag
  • Passenger airbag
  • Back-Up Camera

Final Verdict

The Nissan Murano turns out to be a decent family car in every aspect. To begin with, it offers a peppy engine with great fuel efficiency and a charming design language that sets it apart from its rivals. On the downside, it offers a dismal cargo volume and poor rear visibility. Apart from that, it ticks all the boxes to serve as a family car. If you want a good and comfortable crossover for your family, this could be the right car for you.
