Overview

The 2016 Hyundai Genesis is a midsize sedan offered in 2 trims, starting off at a base MSRP of $39,700. For that price, it mainly competes with the Acura TLX, the Dodge Charger R/T, and the Chevrolet Impala. Between 2 trims, Genesis offers 2 powertrains. The base engine is a 3.8L V6 capable of making 311 horsepower and 293 lb-ft of torque. If more power is required, there is also a 420 horsepower-making 5.0L V8 engine. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Genesis reaches 60 mph from zero in 6.6 seconds on its base engine, which gets pumped up to 5.3 seconds with the 5.0L V8 engine. Depending on the powertrain, the Genesis can manage a combined fuel economy between 18 and 22 mpg. While we’re on the topic of choices, the 9 striking colors the Genesis comes in really pull you towards itself.

Buying Advice

The base 3.8 Trim works for all the buyers unless you need more performance and thrill behind the wheel. Otherwise, the base trim is indeed the bang for your buck. Additionally, opting for the all-wheel drivetrain Genesis 3.8 would be a spot-on package, as the 5.0 trim doesn’t add much for the price it demands.
