In 2013 the Ford Focus kept itself away from any major upgrades but little tweaks have been done to improve the overall experience.
You should avail of the SE trim as it will cost you less than $20,000. It looks much better than the base trim and gets various additional features. You can add the optional packages as well for $2,640 where you get the 17-inch dark painted alloy wheels, leather steering and gear shifter, leather upholstery, SiriusXM satellite radio, power driver seat, rear spoiler, and other stuff which extend its overall presence. Even with that, the price will remain under $22,000.
Starting at a competitive price of $16,200, it rivals the Kia Forte, Chevrolet Cruze, and the Nissan Sentra. The figures and appeal are so intense among them that they all have their supremo in one of the important aspects of this segment about which we will discover as we proceed.
The Ford Focus comes in three trims namely S, SE, and Titanium within a price range of $16,200- $23,200. The level of sophistication in the Focus tends to enhance as we up the trim tree. The manual air conditioning in the lower trims is replaced by the dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control along with rear seat ventilation. There are some common features as well which are basic yet important for daily commuting and usage like the Quad beam headlamps, SecuriLock passive anti-theft system, and telescopic steering column. Apart from these features, it is quite evident that the S trim is pretty disappointing regarding its infotainment while the other two siblings just manage to miss that stint image. The SYNC infotainment system and MyFord touch are among those assets which could have been incorporated into the S trim. On the whole, it is generous but the Base needs a little more updating.

The 2013 Ford Focus has a single powertrain option with its sedan model. It is a 2.0L I-4 with flex-fuel capabilities. With its FWD drivetrain, the engine outputs 160hp power at 6,500 RPM and 146lb-ft torque at 4,300 RPM. The engine can be mated to either a 5-Speed manual transmission or a 6-Speed powershift automatic transmission depending on the trim level. As far as performance is concerned, the base engine sprints from 0-60 mph in 8.8 seconds with a quarter-mile run of 16.2 seconds at 123 mph top speed. The figures are impressive considering its segment and has high prospects.

The Ford Focus is offered at a competitive price. Being the most powerful affordable compact car, it is quite impressive in terms of driving impressions and handling. If you want better performance, the powershift automatic transmission will save you 0.2 seconds in its 0-60 mph acceleration adding another hallmark in its already glorious sheet. On the other hand, the Kia Forte is the closest competitor with similar performance numbers of 156hp and 144lb.-ft torque, whereas other rivals are comparatively slower.
With its 2.0L I-4 engine, the 2013 Ford Focus can run on both gasoline and ethanol with which we get 26 MPG in the city, 36 MPG on the highways, and a combined economy of 30 MPG. These figures have their relevance as they are achieved without any compromise in its performance curve. Moreover, when they are viewed with a 12.4-gallon fuel tank, the range becomes as much as 446 miles which is decent but could have been increased.

As compared to the rivals, Focus has a great fuel economy. It competes with the Nissan Sentra with a similar highway and combined economy whereas the Sentra is slightly ahead when it comes to the city averaging 27 MPG. The third spot is taken by the Chevrolet Cruze while the Kia Forte sits at the bottom of the list. Even with an amazing fuel economy, the Focus falls behind others as they are capable of hitting more than 450 miles quite easily.
As mentioned before, the third generation has been given so many touch-ups to cater to the incoming generation that one can find himself/herself at ease when entering the cabin. Though the Ford Focus has cloth-trimming for its lower trim, it still has that nice feel which further enhances once we dissect the leatherette clouding on seats, gear shifter, and steering wheel inside the Titanium. On top of that, the Titanium even gets power-heating and power-adjustability for its front seats and rear-seat heat ducts. The ambient lighting and dual-zone automatic temperature control are also entailed in its list. The bottom line is that it is Titanium trim which gets most of the features that are worth mentioning, the rest are generous but inferior to the former.

All the rivals have a similar 5 person seating capacity but the rear row is kind of cramped particularly for the Ford Focus. The 2013 Focus is a typical Ford design language that has got both appearance and functionalities throughout its silhouette. The chrome-accented grille on the front fascia is surrounded by the quad beam headlamps with which it has that sober persona bestowed to its expression pursuit. The 2013 Ford Focus has that fresh and modernized appearance which makes it more appealing than its rivals. In terms of weight and dimensions, the Focus comes in the middle as it is lighter and smaller than the Chevrolet Cruze but bigger than the Kia Forte with the least ground clearance among all. Affordable in all possible ways and that too with some exciting additional package by which the appeal can be taken onto the next level. If you want a great car I recommend getting the ford focus. You will have to clean it often but it is great on fuel and a nice looking car. Had the car for years and barely have any problems. It's a safe car with safe features.
