The 2013 Ford Fusion feels sportier and enthusiastic in terms of performance too apart from styling. The Fusion S and the Fusion SE trim come with a 2.5L inline-4 engine as standard that produces 175 hp of power and 175 lb-ft of torque. This engine is offered only with a six-speed automatic transmission and an FWD drivetrain configuration.
The SE trim can be optioned with either a turbocharged 1.6L inline-4 that produces 178 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, or a turbocharged 2.0L inline-4 generating 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Both these engines are paired to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, with the smaller engine being able to pair up with a 6-speed manual as well. The Titanium trim comes in standard FWD configuration with optional AWD.

The Nissan Altima is the only car in question to have a CVT transmission; the rest of them come with 6-speed automatics. With the 2.5L engine, the 2013 Fusion provides a respectable performance that is comparable to its peers and covers the 60 MPH mark in just 8.8 seconds, with the quarter-mile done in 16.5 seconds. The Kia Optima is the quickest of the lot covering 0-60mph in just 7.8 seconds.
After replacing the V6 engines of its previous model years, the 2013 Fusion receives an impressive rise in its fuel economy figures. The base engine on the Fusion S and SE trims returns a decent mileage of 22 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highways resulting in a combined efficiency of 26 MPG. Opting for the 1.6T with the 6-speed automatic on the SE trim gets you 23/36/28 MPG in the city/highway/combined driving cycles respectively. On the other hand, the same engine with the manual transmission improves fuel economy by 1-2 MPG.
The 2.0L Turbocharged EcoBoost engine on the Titanium trim returns 22MPG in the city, 33 MPG on the highway and 26 MPG combined. The Eco Boost engine provides better performance than the base engine without sacrificing efficiency. However, the AWD variant will drop these figures by 1 MPG.

Even with the recent improvements in fuel efficiency, the Ford has not really caught up with its rivals. While the highway figures are comparable to that of its rivals the city MPG figures fall lower than the competition. Also, the car has a smaller fuel tank compared to its rivals resulting in a lower driving range.
The 2013 Ford Fusion offers sufficient room for five people inside its cabin with good support, comfort, and quality. The rather stark interior with decent materials for the class is a clear deception of the company’s efforts to raise the passenger environment. However, the soft-to-touch materials used in the cabin feel really good when rested upon. The dash is uncluttered and well organized. With a power-adjustable driver seat and tilt and telescoping steering wheel, you could find a suitable driving position easily.
The rear seats are also supportive and have enough head and legroom. While the first two trims may feel bland in terms of interior, opting for the Titanium trim gets you leather upholstery, heated power front seats, 10-way power driver and 4-way power passenger seat with memory settings, dual-zone automatic climate control and a leather steering wheel. You can also opt for a sunroof in SE and Titanium trim. 2013 Fusion also offers a decent cargo capacity at 16 cu ft.

This vehicle gets about 25 miles to the gallon was expecting a little better when I purchased it. The interior dirties really easy and the side panels started to come off a year after owning on the interior. It definitely needs a transmission recall but overall it's been a decent car.

Full tank will last someone 3 days when using Cruise control. Will take ypu long distances no problem. Trunk can hold a good amount of items. Enou to hold up to five people in the entire car. Had carswat bars to lock in all models
