Overview

Donning the F badge has been a matter of great honor in the Ford family and with this badge, the F 350 comes endowed with a 430 lb-ft producing engine that soars with power whilst working those 385 ponies under the hood. Best in class parameters combined with more than half a decade of staying at the top the F 350 delivers till the sun goes down and still manages to deliver a little more.

Buying Advice

The Limited trim adds a load of features that shall fit all the features needed to make a truck pseudo luxury cabin in feel. The plush leather seats and a redesigned infotainment cluster that was revised in 2017 are some of the best in class infotainment technologically wise.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

What started out as a cute and curvy truck is now a chrome-laden hulk that can tow anything you throw at it. Loosing its vintage colors and cute looks for raw power the 350 is the one for you if lugging heavyweight is what you do.

Features
9.0/10

The penultimate truck of the F series comes in a variety of trims that amass all the features available under this sun. Aimed to please all demographics the trims are bamboozling and confusing, to say the least.

The XL variant shall be enough for most people’s hauling needs as the F 350 is almost twice the size of the f 150. With its sheer size and power, the basic trim shall suffice most but if you want a literal small cabin on wheels the Limited shall satisfy thy wants.

Engine and Performance
9.3/10

"The current-generation Ford F-350, like the smaller F-150, has an aluminum body to help reduce the truck's overall weight." - MotorTrend

Engine and transmission

With the class-leading engine, the 6.2L engine V8 roars and the revv alone shall be able to make a dominating presence on the road. Intimidating daunting and boastful are just some of the words that may do justice to this behemoth. The V8 produces a staggering 430 lb-ft of torque whilst juicing the 385 horses present under the hood. The only minor complaint is the lack of transmission options across the whole range.

The triumphant winner of the best in class engine enjoys the pole position with only the Dodge coming close with 400 lb-ft of torque whilst having 2 fewer ponies to work with. The General Motor twins try to catch up but settle for a tie at the third position.

The strongest lugger sticks to its core job of pulling weight and falters when asked to run. We establish two things from this firstly if stuck in a post-apocalyptic countryside with a truckload of trucks (huehuehue) you know which one will rummage through debris the fastest.

Braking

With no official figures available and a good track record of all the companies, we expect them to be quite on par with each other. The big hauler's brake would size would be proportionate to the car.

Ride and Handling

Eerily responsive yet light steering is what describes the car's driving experience. Nimble, surprisingly easy to handle and genre-defying more or less like a David Bowie album is what describes this heavy duty automotive.

The F 350 is a behemoth but in a much-refined package. This truck is more or less like a tamed mammoth that lives peacefully with its contemporaries but will switch to a dominating mode in a split second when provoked to do so.

Being a mammoth has its downsides, day today urban drivability is severely compromised and highway maneuverability isn't the easiest. Parking presents a whole new area of problem that is partially solved by the Ford Driver Assist.

Maximum Towing capacity

America's best selling truck falls embarrassingly short on this front and well there's no covering up for it.

Seating and Comfort

The plush seating shall suffice most people's desire and the 2nd-row being able to fit adults is a plus point. The spacious interiors constantly serve us the reminder that you don't need to spend 100k plus for a decent luxurious cabin space in a car.

Dimensions and Weight

The longest and endowed with the largest wheelbase the F 350 looks more civil than its contemporaries. The driving is not the only trait that is attributed to the tameness of the truck. The looks also follow the same tame and lame looks but when you dig further you'll see the gem hidden underneath. As the saying goes "Nobody's found gold without getting their hands dirty".

The lightest among its brethren the Ford does not let a couple of hundred pounds deter its towing capacity. This weight reduction is due to the body panels being made of aluminum rather than the traditional steel.

Safety
7.0/10

Making a behemoth is a monumental task and takes a lot of things to make it a safe space, Ford leaves no stone unturned to make this happen and below are the safety features:

  • Advanced Multistage Front Airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Park View Rear Back-Up Camera
  • Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System
  • Speed Control
  • Supplemental Front Seat-Mounted Side Airbags
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System

The IIHSA and NHTSA have not rated the 2020 Ford F 350 yet.

Competition
8.0/10

Ford F 350 vs Dodge Ram 3500

The Ram pickup truck only outclasses the 11th gen F truck in hauling prowess but when we have look inside the Ram is the most disappointing of the four. Greeted with outdated interiors and ancient tech the Ram piques our interest but fails to grab our attention.

Ford F 350 vs Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

The better off one of the General Motors twins the Chevy Silverado gives its brethren/contemporaries a good run for the money. Edging past the 70-year-old truck in some aspects but as a whole falters for the pole position and gives it to the Henry Ford's brainchild.

Ford F 350 vs GMC Sierra 3500HD

The GMC makes up for the lackluster interiors in the Chevy twin but this is where all its advantages over the Chevy ends. Whilst being compared to the F 350 the GMC fails to surpass it but does certainly give it a tough fight for the crown.

Final Verdict
8.4/10

The F 350 is a force to be reckoned with and the added revisions of the 2017 generation change only bolstered the F series's 1st position. solidifying its supremacy and reclaiming the throne once again. The Regular Cab variant does not have rear seating capabilities but is one hell of a hauler none the less. There are better haulers but sheer hauling prowess combined with everyday drivability is only offered by Ford.
