Overview

Donning the Built Tough tag, this F-250 is specially built for the tough class. The regular cab won't offer much luxury as its crew cab counterpart but the old tradition of a single bench with bed offers a lot of productivity.

Starting at a price of $33,150, there are tons of trims to consider which are curated especially according to pickup buyers. F-250 is equipped with a 6.2L V8 which can produce best-in-class power of 385hp and 430lb-ft of torque.

Buying Advice

SuperDuty trucks are mostly used for hauling and towing purposes and luxurious additions inside this truck are not very useful as the arena they are meant to play in is not very clean. We would recommend going for the XLT 4WD trim which offers basic amenities and perfect for rough and tough tasks.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

Ford's rivals in this category are GMC and Chevy which are too quite experienced in the truck-making industry. GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado are almost similar and Ford Provides the pickup buyers with a different taste in pickups palette.

Engine and Performance
7.9/10

Thanks to its stout engine and chassis, the F-250 is capable of taking on just about anything.-Edmunds

Engine & Transmission

The F-250 is equipped with a refined engine combined with a good set of performance numbers. The century-old tradition of Ford's truck-building abilities are very clearly reflected on this truck, the 6.2L V8 echoes to its abilities very smoothly. The engine noise very rarely passes through the cabin and keeps the cabin noise in check.

Ride & Handling

F-250 might be equipped with a light body and heavy-duty ladder frame but this setup hampers the truck's handling. This SuperDuty is cursed with a significant amount of body roll which makes cornering a bit risky. Equipped like Iron Man with features, this truck is also equipped with trailer sway control which helps you cruise without any worries even with a trailer attached to its back.

Handling is not accurate but even for a truck, F-250 is very agile. A little bit of torsional flex is experienced while cornering which makes this truck a bit unstable. The FX4 package armors this truck from the trails away from the tarmac. The rear-locking differential provides this truck with superior off-road capabilities.

Braking

The braking grounds are guarded by 4 big disk brakes which makes this truck more reliable. The diesel variant is even equipped with exhaust braking which can provide the disk a little bit of relief even when a heavy load is attached to the rear-hook. Apart from big brakes, this SuperDuty is equipped with ABS and ESP to make this truck more stable.

Maximum Towing Capacity

Ford's F-250 SuperDuty was specially built to tow a heavy amount of load and to meet these needs Ford has fitted this truck with a big engine. The updated F-250 now provides best-in-class towing capacity and stays true to its Built tough tag.

SYNC3 is Ford's voice-activated system which is quick and responsive. The B&O stereo system is now replaced with SONY's stereo which will keep your cravings for a crispier sound satisfied.

Dimensions & Weight

This mean workhorse is designed to please even the layman eyes and this is one reason which makes the F-series truck the best-selling pickup trucks of America. The double-stacked headlamps combined with SuperDuty tattooed on hood wraps this truck in the pure American spirit.

It might look big and it might sound mighty but what Ford did was provide all this in a light-weight body which paved way for upgraded frame and axles. These upgrades did not make the F-250 heavy and kept it agile.

Bed Dimensions

Ford's SuperDuty F-250 is gifted with best-in-class dimensions and this is made possible without compromising in cabin space. The best-in-class wheelbase can be attributed to its bed dimensions.

Safety
8.0/10

The 2017 Ford F-250 Superduty Regular cab got 5* Overall Crash Test Score from the Government and Ford wants to iterate the same results with the 2018 edition as well. Hence Ford has equipped the 2018 F-250 SuperDuty Regular cab with some great safety features. Those include

  • 6 Airbags as Standard with Passenger side Deactivation and Side Curtain
  • Inflatable Rear Seat Outboard Safety Belts
  • Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System
  • SecuriLock passive anti-theft system
  • SOS Post Crash Alert System

The IIHS has not rated the 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty Regular cab yet but the NHTSA has rated the same.

Competition

Ford F-250 SuperDuty Regular cab vs Ram 2500 Tradesman Regular cab

The three-quarter-ton trucks with Regular cabs are meant to suffice both the family and work needs. Ram can perform both the roles pretty efficiently but Ford takes the ticket for bigger and much meaner truck. If off-roading is what drives you, the Power Wagon by Ram will suffice your every off-tarmac needs. With front and rear differential locks, the Power Wagon can take any terrain and fills the Ford Raptor some serious worries.

Ford F-250 SuperDuty Regular cab vs Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Regular cab

There is no doubt that Ford has already set a benchmark which is not easy to achieve. This market is dominated by American manufacturers such as GMC, Chevy, and Ram. To challenge F-250, Chevy came up with its Sierra 2500HD. With muscular looks and tough frame, this heavy-duty truck can challenge F-250 in every arena. Chevy has a history of being the longest-running trucks in America, if you feel like owning a truck for the rest of your life, Silverado is for you.

Ford F-250 SuperDuty Regular cab vs GMC Sierra 2500HD Regular cab

Chevy Silverado's closest cousin, Sierra is not very different. GMC has tried to provide this truck with some minor facelifts but it still looks like the Silverado. With best-in-class ground clearance, Sierra is already taking off-road trails like a caterpillar. A limited edition TerrainX version to Sierra is made to tackle the extreme trails.

Final Verdict

The 2020 Ford F-250 SuperDuty Regular cab is one of the best-selling three-quarter ton truck with some serious performance numbers under its hood. Ford's F-series was black-eyed by its frame bending issues in its SuperDuty lineup, this is now rectified and these heavy trucks are now as rigid as Goldberg's spear.

If towing and hauling is the reason you want to buy a heavy duty truck, Ford might not be a better option. If a truck which can fulfill all of your family duties with some work-related duties as well, Ford's F-250 is the truck that youd want to have.
