Overview

Cars like the 2017 Lexus RX 450h SUV might not be able to give you the direct benefits one might expect from its hybrid powertrain. However, its use must not be overlooked. The RX 450h uses its 3.5L V6 and 3 motor hybrid system and a 1.87 kWh battery to produce 308 horsepower. This gives the RX 450h a 0-60 of 7.9 seconds. The hybrid engine here is to support the gasoline engine to boost performance and offer slightly better fuel economy than what a single gasoline engine would be capable of. That said, the 2017 RX 450h achieves a combined fuel economy of 30 MPG. As part of the midsize SUV, the RX 450h competes with the Acura MDX Hybrid and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. That said, both rivals allow more than 5 individuals inside. It offers only one trim with a base MSRP of $53,035.

Buying Advice

With the addition of several driving aids that comes under the Lexus Safety System+ safety suite, the RX 450h has raised its value. It also features several creature comforts that make the ride more pleasant. However, we do suggest the optional blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert which costs an additional $800.
