Basically, the two trims were a two-row version to seat five passengers and a three-row version to seat eight. Which Trim should you buy?

Without any data on this year’s model trims, we really are in no position of suggesting you a trim. The Lexus LX 570 has always been a cramped SUV and as such a three-row version is utterly useless. If the diesel engine comes through in the new models, then the two-row diesel engine variant will be a perfect combo in terms of power, space and fuel economy.

Expected Release Date for the 2022 Lexus LX 570

The 2022 Land Cruiser has come out and equipped itself with a very impressive engine, and the Lexus LX 570 is sure to follow suit. Toyota has resorted back to employing their marvelous engineers to make smaller engines with greater power and that is what the Japanese do best. If the Lexus LX 570 catches up on the Land Cruiser platform for this year, then it shall get a twin-turbo 3.4L V-6 and 3.3L turbodiesel V6. Turbos are new to the Lexus LX 570, the likes of which have only seen naturally aspirated engines till now. These naturally aspirated engines were big V8s, which means more weight. So in conclusion, the V6 petrol and turbo-diesel will be lighter and pack in more punch. This is good for both on-road and off-road performance.

The 2021 Lexus LX 570 only got a petrol motor which made 383 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque. If the 2022 Land Cruiser engines make their way into the bay of the Lexus LX 570, then the power figures are expected to be 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque for the gasoline twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 and 304 hp and 516 pound-feet of torque for the turbo-diesel twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6. Now that’s a very good power surge and the torque figures on the diesel engine are fabulous.

The Land Cruiser is belting out a new ten-speed automatic transmission which has been completely recalibrated with new gear ratios. The enhanced gear ratios make it a very high-revving motor and as such expect the Land Cruiser and the Lexus LX50 to be very punchy and quickly accelerating cars. The Lexus being more technology-laden and employing premium materials in its build, is definitely heavier than the Land Cruiser. The engine upgrades can make the weight figures go down by almost 440 pounds as compared to the 2021 model.

With the 2022 model year release still in the pipeline, it’s better off to get an idea from the 2021 figures of the Lexus LX 570 and its competitors to get an idea of which one outperforms the competition. As it can be seen, the Lincoln Navigator has already adopted the smaller turbocharged engine trickery which the Lexus is expected to adopt this year. As such, we can expect the Lexus to match the performance of the Lincoln Navigator. The Navigator saw major refreshes for 2021 year so the 2022 model year will not be having any upgrades. 

With two new expected engines to come into play, the 2022 Lexus LX 570 might finally be able to tackle its poor fuel economy numbers. The smaller engines will definitely be more fuel-efficient and even the lighter weight will help in the same. As we don’t have the official figures of even the 2022 Land Cruiser yet, there is no scope for making estimates either. The 2021 Lexus LX 570 had a range of 12 miles and 16 miles in the city and on the highway respectively. This comes to a combined fuel economy of 14 miles to the gallon and with a 24.6-gallon fuel tank, that figure added up to a range of 345 miles which is satisfactory.

The Lincoln again pulls ahead from the pack by a sliver as it manages to offer not only the most fuel efficiency but also the most range even though it has the smallest fuel tank which is commendable. The Toyota Land Cruiser and Infiniti QX80 offer very similar numbers and as expected the Lexus comes in dead last although not by a severely huge margin.

The 2022 Lexus LX 570 has only been spied on a couple of times till now and no one has been able to get even a second-long glimpse of the interior. With major changes in the pipeline, it is quite difficult to draw conclusions from the 2021 model year as of now or even compare it to the 2022 Land Cruiser as it is the interiors and exteriors, where these two siblings gather some huge differences. The 2021 Lexus LX 570 had enough technology on offer and yet managed to have an old man’s appeal to its look, both on the inside and the outside. The interiors follow a design style which Lexus says is termed as the Shimamoku ornamentation. It means the elaborate art of alternating layers of dark and light wood veneer. We expect that appeal to be reflected in the 2022 Model as well.

In the 2021 models, the added cargo space coupled with the most spacious interior put the Lincoln in front of the pack again which seemed to be a recurring theme in this review. The Navigator somehow impressed way beyond, especially considering that it was the cheapest of the lot. How Intuitive is the Infotainment system on the Lexus LX570

It sits high atop the dash and is controlled by a joystick-like touchpad located on the center console. This could be quite a hassle while driving and is like operating a computer with a mouse, you ought to have your focus on the screen to get things done. The infotainment system gets a Mark Levinson 19-speaker, 450-watt Reference Surround Sound Audio System which is fabulous. There can be two possibilities with the exteriors, either the 2022 Lexus LX 570 gets more compact upfront owing to the smaller engine, or it can retain the same size as the 2021 model year, and make itself more spacious and comfortable, two things which the Lexus LX lacks on and is infamous for. The Lexus LX 570 was teased during a major Lexus event and a few exterior knacks were visible from under the robe. The Spindle Fibre Grille and the L'Shaped LED Drls are the only things that can be seen. As the numbers for the 2021 model years suggest, the Lexus is the most unwieldy of the lot thanks to the added weight. But when viewing it alongside the competition, the difference isn’t drastic. Expect the curb weight numbers to change drastically if the new engines come into place. Until then, let the Lincoln Navigator have the Gold medal for offering the best of all worlds. 2022 Lexus LX 570 vs the 2022 Infiniti QX80

The Infiniti QX80 doesn’t see any tweaks other than the infotainment system, so most of the facts and figures in the above comparisons with the 2021 model considered, hold the same weight for the 2022 model as well. By plain logic, the Infiniti QX80 is not as well-performing as the Lexus but is $7,000 cheaper than the Lexus. As such, it all boils down to how much you are willing to pay. The Infiniti QX80 looks equally good, but the Lexus definitely has a greater appeal. Also, you surely want to wait and see what the Lexus has in store for the 2022 model year to really make a comparison

2022 Lexus LX 570 vs the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser

The Lexus LX is always a more luxurious version of the Toyota Land Cruiser, but over the years people have always preferred the Land Cruiser to the Lexus LX as the former has a legacy to it. With no clarity on whether the 2022 Land Cruiser gets to come to America or not, we really can’t make an informed decision here. The Lexus will definitely be pricier than the Land Cruiser.

2022 Lexus LX 570 vs. the 2022 Lincoln Navigator

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator sits between a price point of $80,000 - $105,000 which is what the price tag of the Lexus is most expected to look like. For that price, the Lincoln has added a ton of innovations, like a semi-autonomous driving mode and a lane recognizing feature which definitely is ahead of its time. The Lincoln is definitely a good buy but again you’d want to wait to see what the new Lexus LX has to offer.

Without the car being released yet, the verdict is not a legitimate discussion yet. The biggest question is, will the Land Cruiser be available in America or not. If yes, then definitely the Toyota will be a better buy, but if not, then having the Lexus LX is just like having a more Luxurious Land Cruiser with the same driving dynamics and raw feel. Hence, it’s better to wait it out to get a better idea of the new Lexus LX 570 and whether it would be a good buy.
