Overview

The Japanese manufacturer twinkles with a huge chrome-based grille. Toyota sends its segment to run against the S-Class, in the form of the Lexus LS 500 sedan. The snappy car goes with a twin-turbocharged V6 engine delivering better strength and torque at a lesser price than its enemies. Standing at the luxury community of the Lexus, it fetches refinement, attention to detail, and the fraction of gratification one would be searching for. The Interior is filled with properly allocated techs, but somewhere loses hope with the old-style steering wheel. The infotainment system works without any hesitation. Several standard features are offered along, points drawing the car of its wish with a mammoth list of optional upgrades. Ride quality and stability have been improved through revised suspension settings, while optional air suspension adjusts to make entry and exit easier, and shift timing has been improved to improve acceleration and driving performance.

Being a carry-over model it shows Mark Levinson's stereo system brought last year optional on the base model. It shows the reliability against the BMW 7 Series, the Genesis G90, and the Audi A8.

Buying Advice

Ahead of the features cunted by standard, the Luxury package satiates the appetite for luxury features. Standard heated and ventilated front seats, power rear sunshades, adaptive cruise control, heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, and lane-keeping system are appealing. Opting for the luxury package brings much more like four-zone climate control, power-adjustable outboard rear seats, and power side window unshades ahead of the components of the interior package by default.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The car remains unchanged for the 2023 year too. Last year the manufacturer maintained the existence of previous year updates. Being a carry-over model it shows Mark Levinson's stereo system brought last year optional on the base model. It shows the reliability against the BMW 7 Series, the Genesis G90, and the Audi A8.

Engine and Performance
7.0/10

The flagship sedan puts up its courage from a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 engine. It strengthens the LS 500 by yielding 416 horsepower and 442-pound feet of torque. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, Lexus sends an AWD system without extra cost. It runs a 0-60 mph mark in 5.6 seconds, rivals are a bit good at it. To complete a quarter-mile run, it jogs for 13.4 seconds. A filthy steering response is something that one would not comprehend. The engine feels decently powered, but others might search for other options for more stamina. It pushes mildly and sends a different model specifically for sports enthusiasts. Moving it around the city is pleasing, and no doubt it handles the odd roads with an even attitude of luxury. Taking it on the highways neither feels too rapid nor feels supremely sluggish, and one has to admit the fact it is a luxury vehicle. For the first gear, the ratio comes as 4.92:! That goes down to 1.19:1 till the sixth gear and 0.79:1 till the eighth gear. Ninth and tenth gear shifts are purely butter. It takes a lap of 5.17 seconds to go back to reverse.

Lexus is the most affordable luxury sedan available on the market. The 2023 Lexus LS 500 price truly justifies, when it emerges as the best budget-friendly luxury sedan with the highest power and torque generation. Genesis besides the most differentiating design approach runs the fastest with its the most top-speed in the table. Astronomical updates on BMW make it the most expensive luxury sedan under a $100k LS 500 top speed runs sits over that of the Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series. Audi holding hands with Genesis and Lexus are offered an all-wheel drive platform, while BMW charges extra to opt for the xDrive model.

2023 Lexus LS 500 Ride and Handling

Ride parameters greatly impress the driver and passengers. The seats are well induced with functions bringing heating and ventilation to the people, seated at the front. Being a luxury car, no one can argue it does not occupy luxury essence and a rich experience. Around the turn, the sedan feels more composed than many rivals. Helping smoothly to run over pavement, it shows a diameter of 39.6 ft. while turning. Adaptive suspensions bring enough versatility to adorn the luxurious nature of Lexus. Multi-link suspensions on all wheels bring higher lateral stiffness and wishful toe change with appropriate longitudinal and vertical adherence. It also provides better resist dive and squat under braking and acceleration. Lexus does not confuse shoppers with complex drive modes. It covers only three. The Normal drive mode is for daily driving that switches an exemplary amount of comfort and performance. The Eco spreads intention to save fuel to run the car a more longer. It reduces engine response and drives cars with the minimum strength required. The Sport is for the shoppers who tend to rev it. It sends a more rapid engine response, better throttle expression, and spirited handling. Standard 19-inch wheels go well with tires of size P245/50VR19.

2023 Lexus LS 500 Braking System

Braking impressions are easy and gentle on casual driving. Temper gets high when compared to the rivals it stands with. Besides that, the anti-lock braking system helps prevent the wheels from locking under panic or harsh barking conditions. Standard automatic emergency braking system if the car is about to collide, and automatically applies the brake when the driver does not respond to the alerts. Standard adaptive cruise control by controlling the speed maintains a necessary distance between the Lexus and the vehicle moving in front.

Audi A8 equips with the largest braking calipers and shows strength by stopping faster than the BMW 7 Series. Filled with tons of luxury features, it shows in the Lexus LS 500 curb weight. The newest 7 Series is the most lightweight luxury sedan one can make mind shop for. Genesis G90's curb weight and relatively bigger brake calipers can help it stop faster than Lexus. With time, the braking system on BMW has come to an upgrade to stop it sufficiently effectively. Taking the curb weight and rotors sizes of Lexus LS 500 into account, a knowledgeable guess advises us that it stops the latest in the comparison.

Fuel Economy
7.4/10

Being a neck-neck competitor of several luxury cars in the segment, the old-styled engine is a bit thirsty and asks for refueling multiple times in a limited period of time. One would not irritate as it saves extra thousand dollars by costing a little less than the competition. The mileage numbers are relative to the competition. It earns an estimated combined mpg of 21, fetching 17 mpg in the city drive and 27 on a highway run. When completely dipped into a fuel tank of 21.7 gallons, LS 500 manages a combined range of 455.7 miles. When cruising only in the city, it can estimate up to 368.9 miles of range, while on the highways, it achieves 585.9 miles.

The newest 7 series is the most fuel-efficient luxury sedan. The 2023 BMW 7 Series range is the highest in the segment. On the highway and combined, Lexus stands with Genesis and Audi. LS 500 and Audi propose equal fuel carrying capacity, but extra mpg on each driving condition swaps the game in favor of Audi. Genesis G90 scores extra mpg in the city, but loose the same on the highway run with Lexus.

Interior
9.9/10

Interior is what we call a luxury experience. The Lexus leaves traces to make someone look and feel rich with its offerings. Genuinely crafted interior sends comprehensive premium elements to the touch. Doors open wide enough to let in without much confinement. The seating position is on the lower side and feels more attached to the ground. Rear door panels cushioned with leather hold nice armrests, window controls, and little storage space for the newspaper. Font door panels imitate the same action but carry seat adjustment as a distinguishable factor. The seats are super comfortable and capable of holding on long distances. Long people might get asked for headroom. Front seats carry heating and ventilation by default, while to let rear passengers feel the same, the shopper needs to upgrade for the interior or luxury package.

The dashboard carries a curved behavior, where it points to a central 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen seated just next to the digital instrument block. Material suited on the dah is premium, but wood can also be trimmed there to make the car more appraising. To be fair, we did not like the design of the Lexus steering wheel. To suit the price it carries, the manufacturer does send it wrapped around leather, but the dull finish it holds rises as a degrading factor for the overall appeal of the cabin. The center console serves a promising armrest that begs the storage compartment under it. A gear selector with some controls and cup holders completes the console.

No car is even close to the amount of room the new 2023 BMW 7 Series and the newest Audi have got on to offer. The second-row seats of Audi appear with more legroom than BMW, and the highest in the segment. Genesis is a car to drive, while, the rear seats on Lexus show it is to be driven. Trunk space is found the most on BMW despite the chunk of room it offers. Lexus LS 500 trunk space beats the Audi and Genesis.

Highlights of the interior features–

  • Heated and ventilated front bucket seats
  • 8-way power driver and front passenger seat spice with 4-way lumber on both
  • Power tilt and telescopic steering wheel
  • Power rear windows
  • Heated and leather-wrapped steering
  • Front and rear cupholder
  • Proximity key for doors and push-button ignition
  • Power fuel flap locking type
  • cruise control with a steering wheel control
  • Homelink garage door transmitter

How intuitive is the 2023 Lexus LS 500 Infotainment system?

A center-framed 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen similar to the Lexus LS models offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa facilities by default. Even the Navigation and a 4G WiFi hotspot integration are also provided with the included cost of the sedan. The system also runs on basic voice commands but is not as accurate as we see on BMW or Mercedes cars. The touchpad also functions to operate the touchscreen but sometimes it forgets what it was asked to do. The 12-speaker sound system sounds pretty sound. Other physical controls dismantle the flagship character of the sedan when induced with a pale finish even with no traces of chrome around them.

Features of the infotainment system–

  • 12-speaker Lexus premium audio system
  • Remote touch interface
  • Backup Monitor
  • 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility
  • Voice activation
  • Automatic sound livelier
  • SiriusXM Satelite radio
  • Steering wheel controls
  • Radio data system

Exterior
7.0/10

Along with a spacious interior, the external approach of LS 500 sedan scores full marks. It outfits one of the most stylish personalities that other brands do not tend to offer. More than a luxury vehicle, it influences better like a sports car. The front curved hood directs its head toward the ground. Under that, it hides a twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The signature style grille of the Lexus appoints its logo at the center –fully finished in chrome. Sharp-edged front lights look aggressively sexy. The grille covering the whole front spoiler leaves some air intakes beneath the LED Headlights. The side profile is tuned with simplicity– an identity of luxury vehicles. Chrome elements surround the window and door trims to adorn the sloping roofline of LS 500. The door handles are painted black. Finished in nine outfits, we prefer gazing at our LS 500 in Matador Red Mica shade. The rear end is also an attractive structure that signifies the Lexus logo, again sharp LED tail lights parking camera mounted under the power trunk. Chrome surrounds both sides of the exhaust tips.

Safety
4.0/10

Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite has enough safety features. The standard adaptive cruise control maintains a prominent distance between the Lexus and the vehicle moving ahead of it. While pulling into traffic, the front cross-traffic alert warns you if a vehicle in front of you is about to cross your path. Optional enhanced automatic emergency braking adds active steering assistance to help swerve around obstacles. By using lane-keeping assist, the LS 500 can be guided back into its lane if it begins to drift over the line.

Salient features of the safety system on LS 500–

  • Standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Standard lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Standard adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Pre and Post-collision safety system
  • Dual front and dual rear side-mounted airbags
  • Front and rear head airbags
  • Airbag occupancy sensor
  • Stability control
  • ABS and driveline traction control

Competition
4.0/10

2023 Lexus LX 500 vs. 2023 Genesis G90

Both are the utmost flagship sedans from the respective manufacturers. Lexus brings more power and torque costing less to budget. The Interior styling of Genesis feels more expensive and stylish. Genesis is lighter with an extended wheelbase, while Lexus LS 500 is the heaviest vehicle-mounted with the shortest wheelbase. Lexus offers 19-inch wheels, while Genesis brings 20-inch wheels by default.

2023 Lexus LS 500 vs. 2023 Audi A8

The Audi A8 is more spacious and no one car argues. Lexus leaps with a brilliant gap in its strength. Lexus also sends a good balance of nicely outfitted cabins with additional cargo-carrying space. Both cars carry the same size infotainment touchscreen for entertainment purposes, but the overall structure of the dashboard on Audi delivers a subtleness suited to luxury. Lexus is suited to several driver-assistive and safety features, that often look absent on the Audi.

2023 Lexus LS 500 vs. 2023 BMW 7 Series

Though the 7 Series does not bring competent power to LS, surprisingly it is one of the fastest sedans. If its comfort, trunk space, or a highly-futuristic cabin with an optional TV mechanism are on a whole new level, Lexus will take years to reach. Lexus is affordable and attractive from the outside, while BMW behaves more like a car built for businessmen. Lexus offers all-wheel drive while BMW does not.

Final Verdict
7.7/10

If one has a lesser budget, then Lexus is the best option available. Several driver-assistive features, a meticulously crafted cabin, a gentle infotainment system, segment-leading power torque output, and a huge list of optional upgrades with a pointed less price are the lucrative offerings. Some things get to disrespect the class it belongs to, like the faded dashboard, and steering wheel. Care more about comfort, the Genesis might work for you with its highly unparalleled design. Audi A8 brings class to your standard of living, while the new 7 Series shows how the car looks in the future.
