In the sub-compact sedan segment, nearly all the major players have left and the very few surviving have their set of good qualities. The Hyundai Accent is a good pick that has proven to be reliable over the years. It has only reported six complaints and only one recall in this particular model year and that is extremely low. Previous model year problems like Hyundai Accent power steering problems are completely solved now and running costs are also projected to be very low because the car does not have a history of many parts failing. Starting at just $15,295, it is one of the most affordable good cars around. Competition in this category includes the Nissan Versa, the Ford Fiesta sedan, and the Mitsubishi Mirage G4. Read on about Hyundai Accent complaints in this article.

2019 Hyundai Accent User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical problems:

  • Despite raising complaints multiple times at the dealership, a car that had the check engine light coming on was not checked properly by the dealership. This led to the engine seizing at one point in the car being towed to the service center. The bizarre fact is that all this time, the car was under warranty but the dealership expected the owner to pay out of his pocket.
  • There was one complaint reported about a car that had a connecting rod failure at 65,000 miles. The owner also states that after doing sufficient research, it looks like many Hyundai engines have this problem at around the same mileage.
  • Some users have complained about the alignment of the car being done up in the wrong way. The car pulled steadily to the left despite having the alignment done. This seems to be one of the Hyundai Accent common problems.

Electrical system problems:

  • One user had problems with the electronic stability control as well as the airbag warning lights being illuminated. The cruise control also turned out to be faulty. The dealership was not able to find out the issue.

Miscellaneous problems:

  • One user has stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time to fix the car during the recall but has failed to do so.

Should you buy the 2019 Hyundai Accent?

The Hyundai Accent is a value-for-money sedan but it doesn’t have powertrains that are too refined or too efficient. In terms of reliability, its reputation is excellent but how long Hyundai engines will last is still a question that should be answered. There were a few Hyundai Accent transmission problems a while ago but they are no longer present. This is a car that offers much more than entry-level features and manages to keep an entry-level price, making it an excellent pick as a sub-compact sedan.
