Overview

The Honda Passport is another Mid-size SUV from the Japanese automaker which is built with the sole purpose of providing sufficient practicality and comfort. The 2021 Honda Passport is nothing short of a success story for Honda since its relaunch in 2018. With the 2021 model, Honda clearly wants to continue scaling upwards in the sales chart. In fact, at first glance, the size looks similar to the Honda Pilot as they share the same platform and underpinnings.

Buying Advice

We recommend the EX-L trim with All-wheel drive for its additional traction on the road and better handling both on normal and wet roads. The EX-L trim itself offers a plethora of modern-day features. As standard, it gets a Leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED foglights, a Home link remote system, Mirror integrated LED signal indicators, and costs you an extra $4000 which is not so expensive considering the features it comes with. If all these perks aren’t sufficient for you, you can opt for the Elite where everything gets premium and Elite as the name suggests.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

To begin with, now you do not just get an athletic design but a spacious cabin as well. The front seats are very comfy and provide solid support. Moreover, it also offers a superior fuel economy so that you don’t have to shell out a lot of money on fuel. Some of the main competitors in its class are the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Volvo XC60, and Acura RDX.

Features
6.0/10

The wide range of trims is the major selling point of cars at this price and the Honda offers 4 exciting trims to choose from starting at $32,790 and goes up to $44,180 for the top rack variant. All the trims except for the Elite trim offer both FWD and AWD. There is only one engine option across all the trims which is a strong 3.5-liter V6 engine. Even the base trim offers a handful of overwhelming and cool features that would satisfy all your basic expectations. Opting for the higher trims skyrockets the amount of luxury and safety. The top trim offers all the luxury features you would get from a premium car.

Fuel Economy
4.0/10

The fuel economy on the Honda Passport is on the downside as it delivers class average fuel efficiency. The V6 engine on the Passport guzzles a lot of fuel and it is thirsty all the time. The Honda Passport offers a fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg while cruising down the highway. It gives 22 mpg when combined which is lesser than some of its rivals by a considerable margin. On the plus side, it has a bigger tank than the most fuel-efficient car. As a result, it offers more range than some of its counterparts. The Passport manages to cover a range of 390 miles in the city, 487 miles on the highway, and 429 miles when combined before making your way to the next fuel station.

Nonetheless, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is clearly the winner of the range test and can traverse a distance of 467 miles and 639 miles in the city and highways respectively.

Interior
8.0/10

The interior is the part where things get even more engrossing. The Honda lives up to its reputation when it comes to the interior. It boasts one of the best interiors in its class. The design of the dashboard is so flamboyant and very appealing. The base trim gets cloth fabric upholstery which looks quite premium.

The Steering is thick and feels grippy. The centrally placed infotainment screen looks crisp and neat. When it comes to interior dimensions, the Honda has got it so right. It has the most spacious cabin of the competition. It offers a front headroom space and rear headroom space of 40.1 inches which is segment-leading. Moreover, it also offers the highest cargo capacity of 41.2 inches.

Exterior
5.0/10

The Honda Passport looks like a hunkered-down Honda Pilot. Most of its best bits are derived from the Pilot and get a new character of its own. The headlights look sharp and integrated with LED lights. The huge blacked-out grille and wheels give the car a sporty look. The fog lamps add to the front fascia of the car. The tail could’ve been better. It looks so small considering the size of the car.

The rear spoiler accentuates the rear looks of the SUV. Moreover, it is the largest car in the segment measuring a length of 190.5 inches, a width of 78.6 inches, and a height of 71.6 inches. Its huge size grabs a lot of attention on the road. Moreover, it hangs 7.5 inches above the ground and also occurs to be one of the lightest cars in the segment.

Competition
8.0/10

2021 Honda Passport vs 2021 Acura RDX:

The Acura RDX costs a bit more expensive than the Honda Passport and delivers lesser performance figures and Honda offers all the features you get from the Acura RDX. However, the interior of the Acura RDX looks a tad more premium. The fuel economy is also on the upside offering more fuel economy than the Honda Passport.

2021 Honda Passport vs 2021 Volvo XC60:

The Volvo XC60 is the most expensive car in its segment. The Volvo XC60 is the master in terms of Safety and boasts a bucket load of sophisticated safety features to keep the passengers safe. On the downside, the Volvo XC60 is not as powerful as the Honda Passport but offers great mileage. Thanks to its turbocharged inline 4 engine.

2021 Honda Passport vs 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a bit more powerful than Honda Passport but lacks in performance due to its heavyweight. Moreover, it costs $4000 more than the Honda Passport. It also loses to Honda Passport in terms of fuel economy only by a small margin. Nevertheless, the Honda Passport can never beat the Jeep in terms of off-roading capabilities.

Final Verdict

The new Honda Passport is a no-brainer in its segment. It has a decent performance, heaps of practicality, tremendous interior space, and comfort. There are downsides too, For instance, it offers a subpar fuel economy and the ride quality is not up to the mark and offers a bumpy ride. Moreover, the exterior styling feels a bit old school whereas its rivals look more modern in some aspects. If you are planning to buy an SUV, you must definitely check this car out for its versatility.

              Honda amazingly great

Pros - ["Reliable, Luxury and All black design", "Safety Camera and Premium Leather Seats"]

Cons - ["Gas usage and no back seats cooling", "Doesn???t have 3rd sit row"]

I love my car a lot because it has all black design, very reliable and has so many great futures like all Black seats great safety, futures, and cool design. Also, I really like that. It has a safety camera future on and it saves me a lot during travel
