To update, Ford's own new car warranty is not accepted by most Ford dealers--including over a half-dozen that we attempted to use before the warranty was up--with the common excuse being that Ford is only paying them in "warranty dollars," which is defined as insufficient to do repairs. Even the dealer where I bought the defective Fusion refused to honor Ford's warranty, requiring that I first affirm financialRead More

So I brought this ford 9/8/22 and it had given me nothing but problems I had to get new breaks, new coils, spark plugs, battery and my coolant was continuously leaking and I took it to a mechanic they told me I had a blown head gasket and this is all within 3 months of me having this car.Read More

... as comfortable for my larger frame as is the 500, and rear seat legroom is bad when my seat is adjusted for my comfort. There is also a lag in the AWD engagement at times, causing wheelspin until it finally makes up its feeble mind to engage other tires. It also came standard with an antifreeze leak (love that smell) and window washers that hit about 7 inches up the window.Read More

Ford aims at a practical, efficient, and versatile vehicle with the Fusion range. The Ford Fusion meets its goal with a balanced drive that suits both commuting and touring. Furthermore, the sedan comes equipped with a respectable range of features. However, the car comes across a handful of user complaints and issues. The problems with the sedan range from engine misfiring to defective windshield wipers. In terms of numbers, the 2017 Fusion registers 359 complaints, 3 recalls, and a 5-star safety rating. The Ford Fusion finds its rivals in the likes of the Nissan Altima, the Toyota Camry, and the Honda Accord. Furthermore, the sedan holds a respectable 9th spot on the CarHp list of top-10 sedans for 2017. Here’s a closer look at the 2017 Ford Fusion.

Mechanical Problems

  • Powertrain - Powertrain issues persist with the Ford Fusion. Users come across issues like hesitant shifting, gear grinding, stalling, and slow acceleration. These issues increase the chances of a rear-ended collision. Powertrain issues are expensive and time-consuming to fix.
  • Brakes - Brake failures are a common issue with the sedan. Users report that the car fails to slow down or stop by applying the brakes. Few user complaints also report cases of unprompted braking. These braking issues compromise the safety of the occupants and the vehicle.
  • Engine - Engine issues with the Ford Edge are a common trouble for the users. The engine issues with the SUV range from engine misfiring to leakage of coolant. Users report that defective spark plugs lead to the misfiring of the engine. Few users also report the breakage of the engine flexplate and the cylinder walls. These engine issues are major concerns. Fixing these issues requires hefty upkeep.
  • Steering - Power steering failure is common with the car. This leads to stiffened steering wheel setup. Due to this, users face difficulties turning the car and lose control of the vehicle. This increases the chances of a crash.

Electrical Problems

  • Battery - Parasitic battery drain is a major issue with the car. Users report that the battery drains at a rapid rate with the vehicle standing still. This leads to dead starts or reduced power delivery. The fix to this requires jump-starting or replacing the vehicle battery. Sudden loss of drive power increases the chances of a rear-ended collision.
  • Windshield wipers - The windshield wipers of the Ford Fusion are prone to function ineffectively in heavy rains. Users report that the wipers fail to speed up under heavy rains and hinder visibility. Few complaints also report that the wiper blades rub against the windshield. This can damage the windshield and further reduce the driver's visibility.
  • Power windows - Users report that the ‘bounce back’ power windows are prone to malfunctions. The windows roll up when intended to roll down and vice versa. This can distract the driver under driving conditions.
  • Defoggers - User complaints report that the defogging system is prone to failure. This results in condensation on the windshield and the windows. Condensation compromises the driver’s visibility and increases the chances of a crash.
  • Vehicle fires - Vehicle

Structural Problems

  • Sunroof/moonroof - Shattering of the sunroof/moonroof with a loud bang is a common issue with the sedan. Users report that this occurs without any foreign impact or damage. This can increase the risk of injury to the occupants or distract the driver. Ford claims changes in the environmental temperature and pressure to be the cause of the issue.
  • Exterior lighting - User complaints report that the headlights of the car do not illuminate sufficiently. This compromises the visibility of the driver. This increases the chances of a crash. Users also report the failure of turning indicators. This increases the chances of a crash.
  • Trunk - The trunk of the sedan is prone to pop up under driving conditions. This can result in a road hazard or distract the driver under driving conditions. This increases the chances of a crash.
  • Wheels - The lugnuts on the wheels of the car are prone to expanding or ‘swelling up’. This results in shaky and harsh driving and compromises user comfort. Swollen lugnuts cannot be removed and hold the wheel in place. This becomes a struggle for mechanics.

Safety Problems

  • Airbags - Airbag deployment failures are a known issue with the car. Users state that the airbags fail to deploy in the event of a crash. Few complaints also report cases of unprompted airbag deployment while driving. These airbag issues compromise the safety of the occupants, increasing the risk of injury.
