Overview

The 2014 Chevrolet SS makes for an excellent contender in the midsize sedan class. With just one trim on offer, the Chevrolet SS has a base MSRP of $43,475, competing directly with the Dodge Charger SRT8 and indirectly with the more expensive German counterparts like BMW 5 Series 550i. Only a 6.2L V8 engine is offered, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Together, they produce 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. Accelerating from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, the SS maintains a combined fuel economy of 17 MPG. Chevrolet offers the SS in 5 stunning colors, with the Red hot being a particular favorite of ours.

Buying Advice

The Chevrolet SS is the right mix of comfort and performance in sedan form. It does have the driving characteristics of a Camaro, all thanks to its V8 engine that puts out relentless power and torque. Offered as a single trim option, it boasts some of the modern gizmos and performance features like high-performance tires, a sport-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated eight-way power front seats, and so forth.
