Overview

The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe is a midsize coupe offered in 6 trims, starting off at a base MSRP of $55,400. For that price, it mainly competes with the BMW M4 Coupe, the Mercedes-Benz E-550 Coupe, and the Lexus RC F Coupe. Between 6 trims, the Corvette Stingray Coupe offers a single powertrain option. It is a 6.2L V8 engine making 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. However, there is a choice between a 7-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed automatic transmission. If more power is required, you can opt for the Z51 trims that come equipped with a performance exhaust that boosts the power output to 460 horsepower. The Corvette Stingray Coupe reaches 60 MPH from zero in 3.8 seconds with the manual transmission, which gets pumped up to 3.7 seconds with the automatic. The Corvette Stingray Coupe manages a combined fuel economy of 19 MPG. While we're on the topic of choices, the 10 striking colors the Corvette Stingray Coupe comes in really pull you towards itself.

Buying Advice

The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe is an exceptional performance bargain for the price it is offered. It is available in 6 trims and we recommend getting the mid-level 2LT trim that comes equipped with front-view parking cameras, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, interior-color console and armrest trim, heated and ventilated seats driver memory settings, and a 10-speaker Bose sound system along with other features over the base trim.

              My Dream American Sports Car

Pros - ["6.2 L engine", "Kalahari Interior", "Convertible"]

Cons - ["A little difficult for an 80 year old to get in and out of.", "Needs front camera", "Should come with all weather tires"]

Corvettes were always my dream car growing up. My Dad was a Chevrolet dealer so I was around them a lot. When I was old enough I couldn't afford the car, let alone the insurance, I didn't buy my first one until my last kid finished college, a red 1990 conertible. Since then I've had another C4, a C5, a C6 and my current C7.
